Day Twenty
Who: Legolas and Aragorn
When: Day 20, evening
What: The conversation that they didn't have after the kidnapping
Where: Aragorn's room
Rating: I'd give it a G, maybe a PG but probably not
Status: Complete

It had been a lot of fun, meeting with the woman Rose in the vineyards. He'd almost distracted himself from the fact that he had yet to talk to Aragorn. Almost, of course, being the operative word there. Really, it had been weighing on him, and he knew that he did need to track the Ranger down. They needed to have this out.

After the kidnapping would have been the best time for that, of course, but there had been no time. And, to be honest, Legolas had just been so happy to have the Ranger back that he'd let it slide, and just enjoyed the human's presence. Besides, despite his words, it was still complicated. They still were separated by race, and that was no small thing to an elf who could expect to live forever.

In the end, though, none of that mattered. It hadn't mattered to Luthien with her Beren, and he was willing to bet it hadn't mattered to Arwen with Aragorn. Something about certain humans drew elves, and though it was a union that many frowned on, once it was made, there was nothing for the elf to do about it. Without love, what's the point of living forever?

So, after waiting much longer than he should have, he made his way out of the vineyard and toward his dormitory building. Again, the butterflies started flying around his stomach, making him feel slightly ill as he made his way to Aragorn's door. Still, he looked quite calm as he raised his hand and knocked.

Just like in the forest when he'd come to rescue Aragorn and Giselle, alongside Katara, he was hesitating. Then, he'd told himself that the second he saw Aragorn, it would be over. They would talk then and there. They hadn't. They'd both said the words that confessed that they loved each other, and then they had stopped there. Odd, really... and the same thing was happening here.

"Yes, typically that is the way one does things..." His eyes kept moving, settling on the fire, a painting on the wall, basically anyplace but the face of his friend. He bit his lower lip and rose to his feet suddenly. What was wrong with him? Aragorn was giving him this chance to speak on a silver platter, and he didn't think his words would be offensive to the Ranger and yet...

In the flickering flames of the fire, he saw another face for a second as he stared and lost himself there. Silvery eyes, dark skin... by the Valar, what was wrong with him? He sighed and turned away finally. "I find I... have other things... my apologies." He bowed to his friend, which was something he hadn't done in a very, very long time, and turned to leave. Soon, he was out the door and away.
