Day Twenty
Who: Legolas and Aragorn
When: Day 20, evening
What: The conversation that they didn't have after the kidnapping
Where: Aragorn's room
Rating: I'd give it a G, maybe a PG but probably not
Status: Complete

It had been a lot of fun, meeting with the woman Rose in the vineyards. He'd almost distracted himself from the fact that he had yet to talk to Aragorn. Almost, of course, being the operative word there. Really, it had been weighing on him, and he knew that he did need to track the Ranger down. They needed to have this out.

After the kidnapping would have been the best time for that, of course, but there had been no time. And, to be honest, Legolas had just been so happy to have the Ranger back that he'd let it slide, and just enjoyed the human's presence. Besides, despite his words, it was still complicated. They still were separated by race, and that was no small thing to an elf who could expect to live forever.

In the end, though, none of that mattered. It hadn't mattered to Luthien with her Beren, and he was willing to bet it hadn't mattered to Arwen with Aragorn. Something about certain humans drew elves, and though it was a union that many frowned on, once it was made, there was nothing for the elf to do about it. Without love, what's the point of living forever?

So, after waiting much longer than he should have, he made his way out of the vineyard and toward his dormitory building. Again, the butterflies started flying around his stomach, making him feel slightly ill as he made his way to Aragorn's door. Still, he looked quite calm as he raised his hand and knocked.

Recovery, basically by rest was what the Ranger had been doing since being rescued by the Elf and the beautiful brunette. The talk he should have had with Legolas never came. Neither eemed to be in a hurry to have this talk despite it being needed.

His feelings however had not changed. He was madly in love with Legolas despite it being complicated and frowned upon in their world. Which.. some exceptions were made clearly. But regardless, his love would not go away or change. At least here it was less complicated then they were making it.

Aragorn was in his room, sitting infront of a fire, his room now looking like woods, trees surrounded him, it was night time and it was quiet adn peaceful. When the knock coming he was on guard until he relaxed and realized he knew who it was without needing to open the door. And he didn't need to protect himself.

"It's open, Legolas." Aragorn spoke in Elvish form, falling back into it so quickly. He didn't move or stand or even look when Legolas came in. He was too scared though he would never admit it.

He had hoped, in some way, that the Ranger wouldn't be there. That he could leave, having given it an effort. This was a talk that he was very nervous to have. Never would he have imagined that he would fall in love with a human, and that fact alone outweighed the fact that Aragorn was also a male. Elves do not have quite as much of a hang up with same sex relationships as humans do, though it's still not as common as heterosexuality. He did, however, wonder how the human viewed it.

Soon, though, he wasn't able to think about any of that. Actually, all thoughts went out of his head completely as the voice that was so familiar to him called out, said his name. For a second, he wondered how Aragorn had known it was him. Of course, it didn't take him long to realize that he knew exactly how the Ranger knew. Apart from the fact that Legolas had made no noise approaching, and a human would have, but it was more than that. It had to do with a strange sort of bond that love can give between two beings.

He opened the door, knowing that he was going past the point of no return. Of course, hadn't he really done that when he'd told the ranger exactly how he felt about him? And if not then, surely when he'd knocked on the door and been recognized? But now it was definitely past any point where he could back out, and he knew that as soon as he saw the firelight playing over the human's features. He was beautiful, and Legolas couldn't drag himself away.

The very odd thing was that Aragorn wasn't at all elven, not delicate at all, and therefore wasn't the sort of being that Legolas would normally find attractive. But here he was, unable to look away. It was more than his physical features, which were attractive in their own right. The beauty was within, and completely captivating.

On silent feet, the elf approached and settled down, cross legged and graceful, beside his king. For awhile, he just sat and enjoyed the night by the campfire, which brought back so many memories. Finally... "We should be singing epic elven ballads, or so it feels. Does it remind you of the days when we travelled together, as well?"

Peace was what he was hoping for,but peace seemed to not completely want to come.Aragorn remained focused on the fire, his eyes following the dancing flames. It reminded him of so many a nights sitting by the fires, regrouping after a days travels. And after battles with Orcs along the way.

After the long ordeal with the man called Logan and his Beast alter ego, Wolverine, Aragorn found himself weary, tired and very much longing for what was. Their time alone talking, tracking, the Hobbits and Gimli. Just all of it.

His mind also would not leave what had happened when Legolas helped rescue him. Not even close. he.. Legolas loved him and he loved Legolas. But they had not discussed it since.

"That it does... I miss those days." he said softly as he finally tilted his head to look up at the beautiful Elf. "I'm glad you came by. We have a lot too talk about and I know it's just not been the right time...."

The blond prince had fully intended to just come here and blurt out the truth. He loved Aragorn, he wished to be with him, he would give up his immortal life just to be with him, only now that he was here, he wasn't so sure what to say. It was a big thing for an elf to do, which is why it was so rare. So he sat for a long time just thinking. When he finally spoke, it wasn't at all the words he had orginally planned.

"They were good days... the Dwarf behaving quite foolishly, boasting that he could outfight me, outswim me... why, to hear him tell it, he was nothing but a very short elf!" He laughed softly, and then turned his eyes to the fire. They were dark, thoughtful, despite his laughter. Why was he here? As he started into the fire, he suddenly saw a completely different face, and remembered... but he pushed that out of his mind.

"Indeed, my King. It is time, and well past time, that we have this conversation." He found he had the urge to stand up, pace around the room. He didn't want to be here. It was a thought that he didn't know where it came from, he didn't know how he could entertain such a thing. But while he still felt something for Aragorn, he wasn't so sure he wanted to... no. Of course he did. So he just sat very still, controlled his restless twitching, and nodded. "Time and past time."

Now that it was here. The time to talk of the things the Ranger knew they must, it was odd that he felt hesitant. He had already said it, but things like this needed to be discussed. They had to work it out. He just felt odd. He was sure it was still recovering from everything.

Laughing softly at the memories that flooded his mind when Legolas spoke of old times, Aragorn let out a soft sigh. He missed those times. Missed having certain ones around. His mind kept flashing back to small moments, large moments of a time that was rough and hard but filled with companionship.

He was also getting a feeling from Legolas and it was making him more hesitant. He couldn't even look at him. He kept his eyes on the fire, focusing. He sounded distracted when he finally forced himself to talk. It was odd. He had no clue as to why."Yes so I suppose just picking a starting point would be a good place.... " Spit it out, he scolded himself mentally. "Right so about the other day..."

Just like in the forest when he'd come to rescue Aragorn and Giselle, alongside Katara, he was hesitating. Then, he'd told himself that the second he saw Aragorn, it would be over. They would talk then and there. They hadn't. They'd both said the words that confessed that they loved each other, and then they had stopped there. Odd, really... and the same thing was happening here.

"Yes, typically that is the way one does things..." His eyes kept moving, settling on the fire, a painting on the wall, basically anyplace but the face of his friend. He bit his lower lip and rose to his feet suddenly. What was wrong with him? Aragorn was giving him this chance to speak on a silver platter, and he didn't think his words would be offensive to the Ranger and yet...

In the flickering flames of the fire, he saw another face for a second as he stared and lost himself there. Silvery eyes, dark skin... by the Valar, what was wrong with him? He sighed and turned away finally. "I find I... have other things... my apologies." He bowed to his friend, which was something he hadn't done in a very, very long time, and turned to leave. Soon, he was out the door and away.
