Michiru hadn't come home last night. She never stayed out all night. Haruka hadn't worried when she was later than anticipated the evening before; perhaps she'd run into Legolas and they'd decided to chat. As the sun set and the stars had come out, she'd started to wonder just how late her partner was going to be. Haruka didn't like sleeping alone, and as the hours passed, began to grow worried.
She'd finally fallen asleep on the armchair near their bookcase sometime after midnight. When she'd awoken in the morning, the bed was still as crisply made as Michiru had left it the previous morning, before they'd gone out. Her mirror and communicator were still set out on the bedside table. Haruka had scowled at the communicator. Why hadn't they thought to keep them on at this strange place? Clearly, something had happened, and there was no way to know exactly what because they couldn't talk to one another.
Haruka showered and dressed quickly, and grabbed an apple from the small bowl of fruit they kept in the room to snack on during the day. She rooted around in her closet until she found an old satchel that was large enough to hold the deep aqua mirror comfortably, then slipped said mirror inside. With the bag slung over her shoulder, and her henshin wand tucked into her pocket, she stepped out into the corridor and headed toward the door.
As she stepped outside, an unusually chill wind blew past her. She frowned and narrowed her eyes. Something was definitely amiss today. She could sense it. Were Michiru here, she'd say that the sea was troubled. Haruka looked left, then right, trying to decide which way to go to begin her search. She wished she could just ask Michiru's mirror, but it wouldn't respond to her. It would have made things so much simpler, though.
She chose a direction at random and started walking, scanning the area for any sign of her lover. There were surprisingly few people around outside today, and it was a lovely day. This too bothered her. Something was definitely not right. At last, Haruka did see a person, a male she didn't recognize. "Excuse me," she said, jogging up to him, "you haven't seen a girl with green hair, have you?"
