It wasn't really nighttime yet, but Vaako had found himself waiting all day for the sun to set. He'd woken up in Riddick's arms still, and that's how he wanted to go to sleep. Free, free from his wife, forever. The Lord Marshal had said so. On top of that, the previous night had been the first time he hadn't had nightmares since he came to Mirage. Maybe it was that his hand stayed on the glowing print all night long.

He'd gone out, as usual, but found himself wandering aimlessly. He'd found all he could find in the library, he sensed that. There was nothing more books could tell him. They were on uncharted territory. Anyway, the sense of impending doom that he was feeling would have made it impossible to focus on reading. So, instead, he'd wandered through the warm sunshine, and this time, he didn't wear any armor. For the very first time, probably, since becoming a Necromonger, he went out without even one piece of the heavy plate armor. It felt different, walking around without it.

Finally, the sun had set, and Vaako had hurried back to his room... their room. He found himself going immediately to Riddick's bed, where the Furyan was still lying, and immediately joining him. It wasn't time to sleep, of course, but Vaako just wanted to hold him again. He was shocked and amazed that Riddick had allowed it last night. Sighing softly, he held on tight and whispered into the other man's ear.

"I think it's coming for me... I feel it."

Lestat laughed, “You deny being lovers, but lovers you are…”, his eyes narrowed, “…it means more than just the physical act of fornication…at least it did in my day”.

This Lord Vaako was even more than Lestat had dared hope for…he couldn’t keep the smile from spreading across his face as he read the man’s thoughts. Necromongers…interesting theology…and this one is still very much brainwashed. I do so love a religious fanatic.

Leveling his glowing eyes to look directly into those of Lord Vaako’s, the vampire Lestat spoke in a smooth, silky voice, “I’m afraid that the choice of going with me is not yours, mon chere. You will be going with me. As for killing me, I am already dead”, he stood proudly and arched an eyebrow, “You should be on the floor kissing my feet, Necromonger, not speaking to me disrespectfully. I am the living embodiment of all you long for…of all your scripture holds to be holy! I am the living undead. I do not breath, I do not eat, my heart does not beat…and yet, I live…and I am stronger than man and my senses are finer…”, he snarled, for effect, “…blasphemer!”, he pointed at Vaako, “…for this filthy breeder you make your entire life a lie and you risk your eternal soul!”.

Riddick’s blades cut him as the man was reminded of how he’d been taken.
Ugh, shut up Riddick, you’re stepping on my performance. Turning to Riddick, Lestat licked his lips and sneered, “Wasn’t wanted? Please, you all but begged me to make you my bitch, Richard”. He looked the man up and down, wondering if there was time to give him some more, “Insane? Now that’s a bit harsh, but it is true…you can’t fight me”.

When the blades pressed into him again, Lestat laughed and tore them from the man’s grip, “You got blood on my shirt, asshole! I told you not to get blood on my shirt, didn’t I?”. Like lifting a ragdoll, the vampire picked Riddick up over his head and threw him about 20 feet down the hall and into the wall. Then he turned to Lord Vaako and tilted his head, “Don’t be a moron”, he sighed, ripping the axe from his hand and breaking the handle free from the head, “I am your new Master”, he growled, just before backhanding him hard enough to knock him unconscious.

Tossing the limp, armored form of Lord Vaako over his shoulder, the vampire Lestat leisurely made his way back out into the sun, sending his mind out to find the unusual woman that was next on his list.
