It wasn't really nighttime yet, but Vaako had found himself waiting all day for the sun to set. He'd woken up in Riddick's arms still, and that's how he wanted to go to sleep. Free, free from his wife, forever. The Lord Marshal had said so. On top of that, the previous night had been the first time he hadn't had nightmares since he came to Mirage. Maybe it was that his hand stayed on the glowing print all night long.

He'd gone out, as usual, but found himself wandering aimlessly. He'd found all he could find in the library, he sensed that. There was nothing more books could tell him. They were on uncharted territory. Anyway, the sense of impending doom that he was feeling would have made it impossible to focus on reading. So, instead, he'd wandered through the warm sunshine, and this time, he didn't wear any armor. For the very first time, probably, since becoming a Necromonger, he went out without even one piece of the heavy plate armor. It felt different, walking around without it.

Finally, the sun had set, and Vaako had hurried back to his room... their room. He found himself going immediately to Riddick's bed, where the Furyan was still lying, and immediately joining him. It wasn't time to sleep, of course, but Vaako just wanted to hold him again. He was shocked and amazed that Riddick had allowed it last night. Sighing softly, he held on tight and whispered into the other man's ear.

"I think it's coming for me... I feel it."

Lestat could understand now why Armand was so excited when he hurried off from the forest clearing earlier; although the brat prince was more powerful than just about any other vampire walking the Earth, this Dahak had somehow increased that power even more…he could feel it coursing through his body and he longed to release some of it.

They were on the other side of the door…he smiled, it was, as the saying goes, the smile of the crocodile. The vampire thought back to the announcement he had given his brethren, Come out, come out, wherever you are! He so wanted to whisper it through the door, but he didn’t want to scare them into not coming out. If they remained inside, he’d have to try to go in and then he’d be taking on the planet…and he wasn’t grandiose enough yet to believe he could do that. Ahhhh…the door opens…

He could hear their thoughts…they were frightened, but being brave…good…it was no fun to play with whimpering idiots. As the door came completely open, he smiled widely and bowed…

“Bonjour, Richard, you’re looking well…”, his eyes drifted to the blades in the Furyan’s hands, “…ahhhh, for me? How thoughtful…and I didn’t bring you anything. He opened his shirt, exposing a smooth, muscular chest, “If you are going to do any stabbing, have your fun, but be careful of the shirt, I purchased it in Milan and I shall be very cross with you if you ruin it, Richard”.

Lestat was enjoying himself…this was the Lestat that Louis couldn’t stand to be around, the ‘cat with a mouse’ Lestat; he loved to play, to torment…he couldn’t help himself.

“Hello Cylus!”, the vampire greeted loudly and abruptly, “No need to hide behind your…lover…why Richard, you sly dog…”, he shifted his glowing eyes to Vaako’s, “When I was fucking him, you would have thought it was his first time with a man…”, he shrugged, “Well, maybe with an immortal”, he smiled and puffed his chest out.

With a dramatic sigh, the vampire Lestat, pulled open his shirt and offered his bared torso, “Let’s get this over with, Richard. Stab me or stand aside. I’m here for the lovely Lord Vaako”. Looking over to Vaako he winked, “You’ll be glad I took you. I’ve seen you two together. Richard has no imagination”.
