He had been promised by Dahak, but it still was no easy thing to sit quietly outside as the sun rose. It was pretty much impossible that vivid memories of the last time he'd done this not rise in his head. He kept flinching back as the sky lightened, and he wanted more than anything to just go back to the room he shared with Lestat and climb into safety there. He was all alone. Who could he ask to sit with him as he potentially tried to commit suicide again? His skin had lightened quite a bit since he'd last gone into the sun, but it was still just slightly tanned. It didn't hurt much anymore, not after Marcus and the packets of blood the Planet kept Armand equipped with.

The sun rose, and though Armand braced himself for pain, there was none. Long past the point where his body should have began to smoke and burn, and had last time he'd done this, he just sat, waiting for it to hurt. Sitting cross-legged on the grass, the golden light touched his skin. And it didn't burn him, not even for a second. The colors of the sunrise spread through the sky, and Armand looked at them. He couldn't remember the last time he'd really watched a sunrise. And the combination of the sunlight and the vampire's keen senses made it quite an experience indeed.

When it became fully apparent that he wasn't going to be burned, he jumped to his feet. Dahak had kept his word. Armand, well, he would do the same. Anyway, it sounded like a lot of fun. He walked briskly through the early morning air, breathing deeply just for the sheer pleasure of it. He didn't really need to breathe, of course, only to talk, but it felt nice. He stretched his arms up to the sky as it lightened and turned blue. The little wispy clouds delighted him to no end.

Jumping easily onto the roof of the main building, he used it as a vantage point to survey the surroundings. Of course, he needed to find the two he'd been shown, but there was no reason he shouldn't hunt first. No one else really seemed to be up yet, though... wait. There was someone. He smiled to himself as he jumped down and approached him. Swiftly, silently, he stalked up on his intended victim. He didn't yet have any idea it was one of the ones he was to take.

Max awoke early this morning, after a good night’s sleep, and felt invigorated. He decided that he’d grab a quick breakfast and maybe go out for an early morning run. He could use the exercise to keep girls off of his mind. As he brushed his teeth he thought back…there was Giselle first and Katara…then he met Ginny at the hot springs…his makeout session with her had gone further than he ever had with any girl…and if he continued to think about it, he’d never get ready to leave here early. Then he met Ayla at the party, she was so innocent and so beautiful. So many hot girls here…Max stepped into the shower to take a quick shower before his run…he would take a longer one when he got back. As he lathered himself and then washed his hair, the sixteen year old alien boy couldn’t get the images of all the incredibly beautiful girls he’d met out of his mind…Giselle, Katara, Ginny, Ayla… “Oh my God, I’m so horny”, Max sighed out loud, as he reached over and turned off the hot water… “ahhh ahhhh ahhhhh ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”, he turned off the water, “Okay, a little better”.

Max dressed in a pair of wine-colored sweatpants, a white wifebeater and white running shoes. Making sure his thick, dark hair was presentable, he stuck his key in his pocket and headed down to the restaurant.

There were surprisingly few people up and around at this time of the morning…being provided for makes one a bit lazy. Max found himself a table by a window and made quick work of his raisin, date and nut oatmeal and orange juice. On his way out, he stopped to chat with Maxxie, whom he hadn’t seen since they were in dance class together…he laughed so hard at that, Maxxie was a dancer…Max was not. Excusing himself, Max finally made it outside and took in a good deep breath, “ahhhhh, NICE!”, he exclaimed.

Before starting his run, Max did some stretching exercises, bending his legs, stretching them…stretching his back, his arms…it felt so good. This is exactly what he needed. He was in such good shape naturally, he didn’t push himself often, but from now on he would…he would run or hit the gym every day…maybe it would keep his mind and body occupied.

Idly, almost lazily, he stretched out his thoughts to intersect those of the boy he presumed was a human. Lovely, gorgeous little boy... their minds met, Armand slipping into something he'd never experienced before. Something, for lack of a better word, completely alien. The vampire staggered, almost fell off the roof in his surprise. He'd never had anything like this happen to him before. He'd lost count of the number of minds he'd slipped into so easily, why was this one...

Gradually, the confusion cleared, or mostly. It still made Armand a little dizzy to be in the boys mind like he was, but he could handle it. He probably wasn't going to fall off the roof, though it had been a very near thing. Ironically, what helped was that this boy was thinking of girls. Very vivid images in his head, actually, and the vampire was amused. Ah, hormones. Apparently not that different in aliens as in humans.

And then, he realized something. This was wonderful. He really was having the most lucky day. He'd gotten to see a sunrise, and already, he'd found one of the victims he was supposed to take. As he went through the alien boys mind, he realized that this wasn't going to be easy, or rather, if he gave Max a chance, it could be difficult. Nice for him, he had no intention of doing anything of the sort. The boy couldn't use his powers if he was surprised...

With a sort of inherent grace, the vampire leapt down off the top of the building where he'd been perching. He landed without a sound, and just as silently, he stalked up to his chosen victim. Oh, this was going to be fun, he'd never had the opportunity to have alien blood before. After 500 years with little in the ways of truly new experiences, well, Mirage was sure offering that, wasn't it? If nothing else could be said for the Planet, that certainly could.

His cold, slender fingers closed on the shoulder of the boy. The key here was to not let him react, not let him use his powers. It was a challenge, but then, what on this world wasn't? Still, it was powerfully exciting. And before the boy could do anything more than gasp, the vampire had his arms around him and his teeth in his neck.
