Aragorn had an interesting night to be honest. He had not been able to sleep. Not even close. His conversation with Vaako played in his mind as well as just everything he was feeling with and for Legolas.

The dark haired Ranger had not left his room since returning to it.He had not planned to. He spent his time alone, thinking. He had taken a meditating position upon the center of his floor that now resembled that of a forest instead of rooms found back in Rivendale.

There was a fire burning in front of him warming him and opening him up.And he allowed himself to slip into deep thought. His heart no longer belonged to the beautiful Arwen. In truth it hadn't belonged to her in quite a while. Somehow a friendship grew so deeply between him and Legolas though neither would gush about it so to speak. But somehow along the way it had turned to something more. Something much deeper, scarier and complicated.

It hit him right as he opened his eyes that while the subject had been brought up they had hardly touched on him and Arwen and now it was time, Aragorn decided. It was time for him to be completely honest. It was time to tell Legolas that he had fallen in love with him. Standing and only grabbing the sword of which he would never part, Aragorn gathered his courage and strength and slipped from his room going the short distance to the room beside of him.Hesitating only one moment he knocked on the door hoping the Elf was in his room.He also made a note to speak to him of the matter of Vaako should the warrior start trouble.

Slowly, knowing he had to do it, he climbed off Aragorn's lap. But he settled down beside him, and he took his hand in his. It was an effort, but he kept his touch light, affectionately friendly and nothing more. He rested his head lightly on the human's shoulder, offering comfort and accepting it, too. After all, love hadn't replaced the friendship he felt for the human, it had just added to it. There was no reason why they couldn't spend this time together as friends.

His reply was, at first, in elven. "That, you will always be. Have no fear on that account." He switched back to common. "I do not sense that it is coming tonight. We still have these last hours. Perhaps all will yet work out just fine." His voice didn't have a lot of hope to it.

Silently, they sat on the couch, as hour after hour of the long night passed. Sometimes, they talked. More often, they just sat in silence, hand in hand, the elf with his head on the human's shoulder. Just like in the old days, really, around the campfire. Only much more comfortable.
