Day Fifteen
Who: Armand and Marcus
What: Hunting the Ranger
When: After dark
Where: Outside, roaming the grounds
Rating: I'm gonna give this one a big old R right off the bat for, you know, vampire-y things. Unwilling blood donating, stalking, all that jazz.
Status: Complete

Alright, so the Planet had done as Lestat had said it would, and given him blood. So he wasn't technically starving anymore. That didn't matter. The point was, there was nothing quite like hunting, tracking down his prey and drinking. It would make him feel more at home, though he knew he did have to be careful. He wasn't in New York, London, Paris... not a large city. There were few places to hide. But he wanted a challenge tonight, he didn't want the blood that the golems gave him. There was no sport in that.

As he dressed himself all in black, he smiled softly. He would hunt, and he would drink, but he wouldn't fall back on his old habits. Many times, he'd simply stood outside a house, calling silently with the power of his mind, until someone came out. He'd gotten quite good at this, good enough that he didn't even hold them as he drank. They clung, instead, to him. But that wasn't what he wanted, not tonight. He wanted a fighting victim. As long as he remembered not to kill, he'd be okay.

It didn't take him long to get ready. His skin was still slightly darkened, bronzed almost. He looked more human like this, and he appreciated why some of the older vampires had gone out into the sun on purpose, just to darken their skin. Not that he thought it was worth it. And he was eager to find the blood that would make his skin as it should be, pale and faintly luminescent. But, for now, all he had to do was find a person. Someone strong. Someone who would be a challenge.

He prowled around in the dark, cool air. The resort had changed. That didn't much matter to him, for all he knew it did that every day. It was just another thing to explore, on another night. Tonight, the child-vampire hunted.

Marcus's brow became knitted as he listened to the vampire's words and felt his fingers on his skin. His touch felt good, and the things he was saying sounded good, but Marcus wasn't sure. He had only stepped forward to hear him better. He was relieved to hear the vampire say that it wasn't going to hurt, but letting a vampire do things to his actual flesh seemed to be going to far. Suddenly, he pulled back.

"No! No, sorry. I can't do that."

Extending his pike once again, he backed away from Armand. Once he had a certain amount of distance, he turned and bolted for the resort. He had never fought a real vampire, and was not sure of his capabilities. How strong was he? How quick? It was already clear that he was persuasive. Marcus had no interest in sticking around to be talked into anything else.

He was shocked. There was no other way to put it. He'd counted Marcus already won, had been eagerly anticipating his blood, and here the human was pulling away. For just a split second, he was furious. His lips pulled back and he snarled animalistically. What was it with the humans around here, anyway? First his fascination with Toph, and now this?

In one of his sudden mood changes, he was amused. And then, delighted. Lord, when had he last had a real challenge? Actually, as far as mortals went, he never had. They all fell to him. Well, Marcus was going to, too. And this meant he could hunt. He wanted this. Even if he hadn't consciously known it before this point.

Too fast for thought, and certainly too fast to be tracked by the Ranger's eyes even if he'd been looking at him, he moved in front of Marcus so the human bumped into him. He looked up at him, deceptively wide-eyed and innocent looking, with a slight smile on his full lips.

"Not this way, beautiful creature."

Marcus was stunned when Armand appeared in front of him. How had he moved so quickly? What kind of creature was he dealing with? Clearly, being a vampire involved more than being a seductive telepath with a taste for human blood. He'd suspected as much, but the superhuman speed had been unexpected.

Obviously running away wasn't going to solve this problem. He'd hoped to be able to make it as far as the main building, but it was clear Armand was not going to let him. There was only one other option. Suddenly pivoting on nimble feet, Marcus swung his pike around, aimed directly at Armand's face. Hopefully the strike was swift enough. With superspeed the vampire could get out of the way easily if he suspected anything was coming.

"We'll see about that, demon!"

A look of almost childlike hurt appeared over the vampire's beautiful face. It was very similar to the look a very small child would give to an adult who had taken away a toy for no reason that the child could understand.

"I'm not a demon, I'm a vampire! If anything, I'm an angel, a dark angel!"

The strange weapon came flying at his face, but he wasn't even remotely near the spot it was aiming for, not anymore. Instead, he launched himself into the air, grabbed Marcus with one arm placed around his waist, and held him against him. His free hand came up, pushed the Ranger's hair off his neck, and forcefully tilted his head to the side. It was all done with a sort of implacable gentleness. The vampire was very cold, and very hard.

"Now I will know your thoughts... you can't hide them from me, mortal. They're in your blood."

With that, he rose up on his tiptoes, his fangs exposed and ready. It was a stretch, but he managed to get them to the Ranger's neck. They plunged through the skin, breaking it easily, and the blood flowing into his mouth, filling him, was pure and complete esctasy.

Marcus's swing with his pike went uselessly wild, and his breath was taken by his sudden seizure by the strong grip of the vampire. Helplessly, he felt himself held firmly and bent back. Straining with all his strength, he was kept immobile by that of Armand, as the vampire reached his fangs up towards the Ranger's exposed flesh.

Marcus had never felt more vulnerable in his life. The most similar thing he had ever endured was being bound in prison, unable to protect himself from the violent whims of his captors. But here things were different. Here he wasn't just a prisoner; he was prey.

As Armand's teeth sank into the Ranger's neck, though, Marcus started to feel something else, something other than the sting of the wounds and the despair of predation. It was a more subtle feeling and it was coming, he could tell, from the vampire himself. While most of him strove futilely to escape the monster's clutches, a distinct part was giving in to the siren call, seduced by the intimate promise of the embrace.

It wasn't a whole lot of fun, really, stretching up like this to get at the tall Ranger's throat. He couldn't fully concentrate on the experience. Really rather annoying, actually. So he firmly moved them both so that Marcus was sitting on the ground, and the boy vampire was sitting in his lap, teeth still firmly fastened into the dark-haired man's flesh. Much more comfortable. He wrapped his arms around his prey, his entire body alive with the esctasy of the blood flowing through his veins, drawn through the twin wounds in Marcus' neck.

Now, he could start to know things about him. It was always this way, with him anyway. He saw things about his victim, at least if he was remotely open to it. In this case, he certainly was. He couldn't get into his thoughts any other way, right? Meanwhile, as the sense of intimacy stole over him, made him its captive, he worked his fingers up into the long, dark hair of the Ranger and sent the most lovely, soft feelings of peace and happiness. Why fight this? The voice in Marcus' head argued, It feels so good, my strong, dark warrior.

He didn't know what Marcus would read in his mind. He'd heard that humans had visions, too, but he rarely left them alive afterwards. This time, he had no choice. Which faintly irritated him. What he could do, what he did do, was sent waves of pleasure rolling through the Ranger's limbs and echoing through his head. Even for someone experienced in the arts of the bedchamber, this would be overwhelming.

Marcus allowed himself to be dragged down to the ground. His resistance to the experience was fading as the pleasure of it grew. As the boyish monster cosied up to him, the most incredible feeling of pleasure and relaxation flowed into his limbs. It was nothing like anything he had ever experienced before. He found it impossible to object to his treatment when it felt this good. His mind began to wonder what it was he thought he was supposed to be objecting to.

Along with the incredibly ecstatic sensations that crept through his body and began to suffuse his mind, there came visions. At first they were visions of other feedings, Marcus's pleasure mixing with that of the vampire. Marcus felt the vampire's feelings of hunger, of satiation. It was complete and open. He gave himself to them. Why not? It was so beautifully intimate, just like their physical embrace. Slowly the visions changed, offering him more glimpses of the predatory creature's unlife.

It was just like always, the pleasure of the victim mixing with that of the vampire until it became very hard for Armand to tell which was which. Some vampires didn't bother with creating this delerium, this pleasure, in their victims, but that had always seemed foolish to Armand. It only increased his own pleasure in the act.

In a vague, dream-like way, the Ranger's memories started marching through his head. There was no rhyme or reason to any of it, of course. One second, it was a memory of childhood, and the next, a training mission for the Rangers. Armand simply let it sweep over him, though later, he would disect it. How was it that this man had memories of travelling through space? That intruiged him, or would, once he had the time to think about it.

His fingers continued to stroke the human's hair affectionately, and despite his pleasure, he kept a firm grip on himself. He couldn't kill Marcus. He listened carefully to the Ranger's heart, waiting for the moment when it started slowing down.

Marcus's body slowly relaxed as he sat on the hard ground, his arms wrapped around Armand's smaller frame, his neck seized in the puncturing embrace of the vampire's bite. As his life flowed out through his wounds, his raptor's essence flowed in, filling his mind with images and impressions. He saw so many other victims caught in the vampire's web, lulled to their eternal sleep by his intimate feeding. He saw Armand's isolation, his companionship with other vampires, his secret yearnings. Every part of the Ranger's enemy's psyche was exposed to him, and as he lolled in his depleted stupor, he absorbed it as a beach soaks in the tide.

Marcus's anesthetized soul, distracted by the spectacle of Armand's centuries of undead existence, paid no attention as his body's energies faded. His mouth hung open, his numbing hands fell to the ground, and his pike fell with a thump on the short grass as he turned inward, giving himself up to the psychic intermingling of the vampire's embrace, abandoning his physical form.

So much in here was strange to the vampire. He'd never been on a space station, never seen an alien. Minbari missions flowed through him, as well as a world where Marcus was a child. He had a brother... and somehow it had something to do with why he was a Ranger. One image was replaced by another, giving him no time to fully savor anything. That would come later, he supposed.

Marcus was dying. The vampire could hear the beating of his heart slowing down. Soon, it would stop. Breaking the rules already... he couldn't do it, though. Lestat's cautionary words about the sun echoed in his brain, and he had no desire to be teleported into the middle of the burning sun, perhaps to live there forever in horrible pain.

With this, he managed to detach himself before the last minute, before the time when Marcus would be drained too far. His skin was far paler now, and he could feel the blood working in him. He bent, bit his tongue, and let a couple of dark red drops fall on the wounds on Marcus' neck. They instantly healed.

"Gorgeous, better than I had thought."

He looked down at the human, slipping out of his mind now. It was safe, he figured, because he really doubted that even the Ranger could summon the strength to do anything to him just at the moment.

"Now, what to do with you, hmm? If I leave you to die, will I be spanked like a bad child by the angry Planet? I suppose I'd better not risk it."

As Armand detached himself and withdrew from Marcus, the images and sensations of his life faded and withdrew from the Ranger's mind. Marcus was left faded and drained, his thoughts slowly becoming his own again. His body was still suffused with the warm relaxation and comfort that he had been granted by the vampire, but he began to recognize his overall feeling not as perfect bliss, but as loss of blood.

Despite the slow onset of that realization, Marcus was still much too weak to do anything but sit there, almost helpless. He wasn't angry yet at the bloodthirsty creature in his lap, and he wasn't anxious yet about his medical condition. Should he try to speak?

"No... Can't kill... Must sleep."

Moving with deliberate motions, the vampire climbed off the Ranger's lap. He felt glorious, really, deliciously sated and content. Rather like a cat, actually, who has just had a whole bowl of warm cream. The last of the damage from the sun was fading, and he was returning to his brilliant white self once more.

"Really, I suppose you're right. I don't want to be teleported into the sun when I've just healed from being burned by it in the first place. If I let you die, I'll probably be punished."

Showing extraordinary strength, especially considering his small frame, he bent down and picked the human up. Slinging him easily over his shoulder, he headed off. He knew where Marcus' room was, he'd picked that tidbit out of the Ranger's mind. "You know, you're lucky that I have a list of people to see to, or else that witch you love would be mine as well."

He wasn't sure how much Marcus could understand, but he was just cruel enough to make the jab anyway, just in case. He smiled to himself as he carried the full-grown man towards the 'E' dormitory.

Marcus was not able to either resist or really understand when Armand hoisted the Ranger's larger body onto his shoulder. He was a little disoriented, but was having trouble putting two thoughts of any type together. Who was holding him again? What was going on? Wow, he felt pretty nice...

Irrespective of his inability to think, his awareness of his lack of blood slowly crossed paths with his aural experience of the vampire's words. "Thank you... Cafeteria..." Having been trained in field medicine by the Rangers, Marcus knew enough about how to recover from voluminous blood loss that it was on the tip of his cerebellum even in a state such as the one he was in.

Marcus lapsed in and out of lucidity as Armand carried him towards E-Block. He was not really aware of where they were going, and he didn't really hear the last thing the vampire said. "Lovely witch..." Marcus smiled.

Armand rolled his eyes. He really hadn't spent a whole lot of time around someone that he'd drained this far. Usually, if he was going to this point, he would have killed them outright. The delerious rambling was new to him.

Of course, he had no intention of doing what Marcus ordered. He was just going to bring him to his room, and then the golems or whatever could take care of them from there. He didn't care all that much. As long as Marcus was healed up soon.

"Yes, lovely witch from what Lestat tells me..." He smirked a little at Marcus' ramblings. "But you love her, you know." It was said in a very calm tone, and Armand didn't much care if Marcus heard him or not. He simply dropped the man on the floor by the door to his room.

"Last stop. Take care of yourself. I'm going to be coming for you again."

With that, he turned and walked off. Let the self-reliant, capable Ranger deal with this on his own.
