Day Fifteen
Who: Armand and Marcus
What: Hunting the Ranger
When: After dark
Where: Outside, roaming the grounds
Rating: I'm gonna give this one a big old R right off the bat for, you know, vampire-y things. Unwilling blood donating, stalking, all that jazz.
Status: Complete

Alright, so the Planet had done as Lestat had said it would, and given him blood. So he wasn't technically starving anymore. That didn't matter. The point was, there was nothing quite like hunting, tracking down his prey and drinking. It would make him feel more at home, though he knew he did have to be careful. He wasn't in New York, London, Paris... not a large city. There were few places to hide. But he wanted a challenge tonight, he didn't want the blood that the golems gave him. There was no sport in that.

As he dressed himself all in black, he smiled softly. He would hunt, and he would drink, but he wouldn't fall back on his old habits. Many times, he'd simply stood outside a house, calling silently with the power of his mind, until someone came out. He'd gotten quite good at this, good enough that he didn't even hold them as he drank. They clung, instead, to him. But that wasn't what he wanted, not tonight. He wanted a fighting victim. As long as he remembered not to kill, he'd be okay.

It didn't take him long to get ready. His skin was still slightly darkened, bronzed almost. He looked more human like this, and he appreciated why some of the older vampires had gone out into the sun on purpose, just to darken their skin. Not that he thought it was worth it. And he was eager to find the blood that would make his skin as it should be, pale and faintly luminescent. But, for now, all he had to do was find a person. Someone strong. Someone who would be a challenge.

He prowled around in the dark, cool air. The resort had changed. That didn't much matter to him, for all he knew it did that every day. It was just another thing to explore, on another night. Tonight, the child-vampire hunted.

As Armand detached himself and withdrew from Marcus, the images and sensations of his life faded and withdrew from the Ranger's mind. Marcus was left faded and drained, his thoughts slowly becoming his own again. His body was still suffused with the warm relaxation and comfort that he had been granted by the vampire, but he began to recognize his overall feeling not as perfect bliss, but as loss of blood.

Despite the slow onset of that realization, Marcus was still much too weak to do anything but sit there, almost helpless. He wasn't angry yet at the bloodthirsty creature in his lap, and he wasn't anxious yet about his medical condition. Should he try to speak?

"No... Can't kill... Must sleep."

Moving with deliberate motions, the vampire climbed off the Ranger's lap. He felt glorious, really, deliciously sated and content. Rather like a cat, actually, who has just had a whole bowl of warm cream. The last of the damage from the sun was fading, and he was returning to his brilliant white self once more.

"Really, I suppose you're right. I don't want to be teleported into the sun when I've just healed from being burned by it in the first place. If I let you die, I'll probably be punished."

Showing extraordinary strength, especially considering his small frame, he bent down and picked the human up. Slinging him easily over his shoulder, he headed off. He knew where Marcus' room was, he'd picked that tidbit out of the Ranger's mind. "You know, you're lucky that I have a list of people to see to, or else that witch you love would be mine as well."

He wasn't sure how much Marcus could understand, but he was just cruel enough to make the jab anyway, just in case. He smiled to himself as he carried the full-grown man towards the 'E' dormitory.

Marcus was not able to either resist or really understand when Armand hoisted the Ranger's larger body onto his shoulder. He was a little disoriented, but was having trouble putting two thoughts of any type together. Who was holding him again? What was going on? Wow, he felt pretty nice...

Irrespective of his inability to think, his awareness of his lack of blood slowly crossed paths with his aural experience of the vampire's words. "Thank you... Cafeteria..." Having been trained in field medicine by the Rangers, Marcus knew enough about how to recover from voluminous blood loss that it was on the tip of his cerebellum even in a state such as the one he was in.

Marcus lapsed in and out of lucidity as Armand carried him towards E-Block. He was not really aware of where they were going, and he didn't really hear the last thing the vampire said. "Lovely witch..." Marcus smiled.

Armand rolled his eyes. He really hadn't spent a whole lot of time around someone that he'd drained this far. Usually, if he was going to this point, he would have killed them outright. The delerious rambling was new to him.

Of course, he had no intention of doing what Marcus ordered. He was just going to bring him to his room, and then the golems or whatever could take care of them from there. He didn't care all that much. As long as Marcus was healed up soon.

"Yes, lovely witch from what Lestat tells me..." He smirked a little at Marcus' ramblings. "But you love her, you know." It was said in a very calm tone, and Armand didn't much care if Marcus heard him or not. He simply dropped the man on the floor by the door to his room.

"Last stop. Take care of yourself. I'm going to be coming for you again."

With that, he turned and walked off. Let the self-reliant, capable Ranger deal with this on his own.
