It was late now. The sun had gone down hours ago. He'd met with the girl Toph, and she had all too easy to read. For some reason, almost getting killed tends to make vampires stronger. It had been the same with him. All his gifts were there, and stronger than ever. He could hear the constant drone in the back of his head that were the thoughts of mortals. Of course, he didn't focus on it. It would drive him quite insane to do that. He just let it be, and as always, scanned only for those who might mean him harm.

Over the course of the night, he'd gotten his key, and directions to his room. His room. How arrogant was this Planet that it would think to kidnap him, to take him away from his very death, and place him in a room. Like he was a child again for real, instead of just in appearance, and the Planet was a firm parent who was telling him what was best to him. If he thought about it much more, he might slam the walls with his fists. This might make him feel better, but really, what would it accomplish?

He wandered through the halls, searching for this room. He had no idea what to expect. How humiliating to be assigned to a room like this. But he didn't have a whole let else to do, and finding this room before sunrise was better than trying to dig into the dirt to escape the sun. He'd had enough of being burned. His body was still recovering from the last time he'd done it. The blackness was mostly gone, but he was dark still. Like he was a mortal with a dark suntan.

Instinctively, he shielded his thoughts. It wasn't something he thought about anymore. Even one of the Ancient Ones would have a hard time reading his thoughts when he didn't want them to. Only when he was surprised, or if someone was very strong, could he be read without his permission. So, silently, he walked down the hallway. The first indication that he was there, the first small sounds he made, were when he inserted the key into the lock and started to turn it. He wondered what his room, the room he'd been sent to, like a child, would look like.

Lestat’s eyes grew wide as he released a haughty chuckle, “Mon petit chaton, I do believe the sun has fricasseed your poor little brain”, he kissed Armand on the top of his head and continued, “Did you actually say I could try?”, he laughed dramatically and moved to pick up his violin, “…and that there would possibly be some risk?”. After a heavy and overly dramatic sigh, Lestat played a few wild notes on his fiddle…for a fiddle it was, a violin should never sound like that… “Who makes the threats now, Armand, as empty as they may be?”.

He replaced his violin on the stand and once again retrieved a few blood packets for Armand and returned to the Chaise, “Here, you will need much more if you are to challenge me”, the corner of his mouth curled, “Be a good little vampire and drink all of your blood”, he teased now as he stroked Armand’s hair. Lestat could go from angry to loving at the drop of a hat and only he knew the reasons why.

Armand’s words of challenge, if that’s what they actually were, didn’t really anger Lestat…it woke him. He realized that he had been complacent too long. Lazy, untried…away from his own kind and missing them far, far more than he ever realized he would. He looked down at Armand and smiled…he was a gem, he was, in ways, the best and the worst of Louis, Marius and himself all rolled up into one pretty package.

Rubbing Armand’s shoulders, he promised, “We will hunt, mon chere. We have a whole new world to play in and a food supply that really has nowhere to run”.

“Now, tell me, do you still miss your dear ol Lestat?”

If Lestat was thinking thoughts about being challenged, and having been complacent, Armand was having a similar thought process. Ever since Lestat had come into his life and, with a few casual words, destroyed his previous coven, the blond vampire had caused him all sorts of problems. Of course, to be fair, he'd provided countless opportunities as well. When Lestat had left, a source of total annoyance had left, too. Surprisingly, he had missed it.

"A good little vampire? You know I've never been anything like that before, why should I start now?"

Still, despite his words, he accepted the blood and opened another one, savoring it this time. Still, it wasn't long before it was drained, as well, and another and another. He raised a hand and surveyed it, laughing in satisfaction when he saw he had lightened further. His head rested back comfortably on Lestat's stomach. If he was unnerved by the change from vague threats to affection, he didn't show it. Anyway, wasn't he doing the same thing?

"I don't think we've ever done that... hunted together. Have we?"

Idly, he raised a small hand to rest on the well-muscled stomach of the other vampire, close to his own head. His fingers moved idly as he basically thought out loud.

"No, I didn't miss you. None of us did. We enjoyed the peace and quiet." The words were cruel, but the tone light and sweetly mocking. Of course, he'd missed Lestat, his tone said. How could he not? "But enough of this. I don't want to talk about that anymore. Instead, tell me of those you've met here. I can sense you've been here for awhile, is this right?"
