Day Thirteen
Who: Katara and Vincent Valentine
What: Food Consumption and Dancing
Where: The Restaurant to start
When: Day 13 ; Evening
Rating: PG-13
Status: Complete

After a morning of self training with a staff, and an uncomfortable afternoon with a man who gave her the creeps, Katara was finally able to relax… a bit. Her nerves were still buzzing uncomfortably around her lithe figure, making her nervous, whenever she thought of Vincent.

As evening drew closer, Katara decided she wanted to dress nicer than usual. She didn’t expect her evening to consist of anything pressing. That was probably why Katara chose to dress in robes rather than her usual Water Tribe attire. She hadn’t really been thinking about what she was going to wear, but she figured she wouldn’t be doing anything that required a lot of mobility. Therefore, the waterbender figured she could wear something that wouldn’t aid in movement. After a quick bath to wash away that day’s dirt and dust and sweat, she dressed.

First she wrapped a simple, light red robe around her person. Then she slipped her arms through the quarter length sleeves of the outer robe that billowed out only by a couple of inches, and wrapped the light fabric around herself. It extended to the floor, though it barely dragged against it. There were slits up the sides to her mid-thigh that revealed the under robe. Upon her feet she wore a pair of sandals that looked nice with the deep red of the fabric and the lighter red of the trim. Around trim, flowing designs were embroidered in black. About her throat she wore a golden chain. Her hair was styled half up into a bun, clasping it with a red and golden clip, while two loops of hair were attached to that, and the rest of her hair flowed over her shoulders and down her back.

Once the sun had set she sought out a golem to direct her to wherever Vincent might be. They moved silently, unspeaking over the grounds. Katara was led through the trees at a quicker rate than her eyes could adjust to the sudden shadows, and she had to hold her robe up to keep from slipping on it. The moonlight shone through the trees to light the way, but the deeper into the forest they went, the thicker the trees became, and the shadows darkened. The golem moved at a swift pace, never really allowing for a moment’s pause so she could adjust to the dim lighting. Somehow, though, Katara felt herself grow more anxious, as if she knew they were near to Vincent.

Eventually, the trees began to thin again so she could finally see a bit. As soon as Katara caught sight of Vincent, the golem departed. She knew he saw her, too. The trees were thinner here, but, for what reason, had yet to be discernable. All she knew was that the moonlight filtered through the trees, casting eerie shadows over them both, but she wasn’t afraid. There was nothing to fear while he was around. Except your reactions… The waterbender thought. She swallowed. She did feel a bit nervous, and her belly filled with dragonflies that flew around, knocking uncomfortably against her organs. She walked toward him until she was only a few feet away, and his crimson eyes were visible to her silver optics.

“Ha-have you eaten at all today?” Katara asked, her brows creased in question. As far as she knew, he rarely ate anything, and she’d never seen him eat- even when she’d cooked for him. A not-wholly-unpleasant shiver wound its way up her spine at the thought of what actually had happened that night, but she stuffed it down. He would deteriorate away into nothing if he didn’t eat, and she’d promised him that first night they’d met that she wouldn’t allow that to happen. “Come eat something with me. The food here is really good.” She extended her hand toward him, motioning for him to go with her. It sounded like an offer, but she didn’t intend to take ‘no’ for an answer.

Slowly he turned, and forced himself not to frown, but it shone in his eyes, the sadness was there, as strong as ever. He didn't know his eyes betrayed him, and if he had he would have closed them, for it would not have surprised him to know the Water Bender could read him by his eyes alone. But as he turned he did frown, seeing the way that she limped, and he slowly began to move towards her, instantly picking up on it. It might have been hard to tell for someone else, but Vincent knew how she moved, how she walked. He'd stared at her while she'd been visiting with him, and like one obsessed over a story knew the way her body moved down to it's subtleties.

As she collided with him he took a light step back as well, so he could catch her without her slamming into him, worried more about her than himself. She was panting, and he could feel her heart racing. For a moment, he was back in the night when he'd held her under the moon and had sworn to protect her. How odd that after his plea to the spirits they would return to this moment. Perhaps it was a way of trying to get Vincent to renew his promise. But there was no need, he would protect Katara as long as he was able, and fight to protect her still after that.

"Katara, you're hurt-" Vincent tried to say but she cut him off, and Vincent blinked, as it seemed that she was trying to tell him something very important but couldn't quite get the words out of her mouth. A frown of confusion creased his brow until he realized that she'd just hurried here to tell him that he shouldn't feel bad. It was sweet, in a way, and Vincent had just barely parted his lips to tell her she didn't have to worry about it...

When her lips suddenly pressed up towards his own. Vincent's eyes flew open wide, paralyzed in the moment that seemed to come from nowhere, as far as he knew. Questions began to form in his head like brewing thunder clouds on the horizon. But as he inhaled, smelled her, felt her, all of that seemed to fade away, along with all thought.

Slowly his hands slid up her back and into her hair, and Vincent kissed her truly for the first time, not a matter of just brushing his lips against hers, but of letting flood from his body into hers all of what he felt about her.

And for that one moment, regardless of the prison they were in, the world seemed perfect... two lovers in each other's arms, bathing in the moonlight.
