Back in solitary.
Miguel didn't know how much worse his life could get at this moment as he collapsed on the hard cot attached to one of the walls. It was the same room he had spent most of his time at Oz inside of and the familiarity of those four walls were closing in on him, making the convict feel like throwing up. In fact, he could feel the bile rising in his throat and turned to the toilet where he dry heaved for a few minutes. Christ, he couldn't believe he was back in here again, trapped once more in the metal cell. "Fucking moron", Miguel swore at himself. "El burro sabe mas que tu". How could he have been so stupid to lose his temper at the parole meeting and actually attack one of the parole board members?
"I'm never going to see the outside of this place", he sighed as he laid back down on the bed. For a long while Miguel let that sad fact sink into his brain before he drifted off, still fully clothed on the prison bed. The criminal never felt the planet call out to him nor did he feel it pull him from his cell and dump him into the gardens of the dude ranch. There he slept for about a half and hour until the hard ground and bright sunlight finally forced Miguel awake. It seemed like a beautiful dream to Alvarez when he opened his eyes and saw the beautiful lush garden, the rustic buildings and the far off mountains. Not exactly a place Miguel would ever dream himself to but he was thankful for any respite from his cold prison cell. After about a ten minutes of simply staring at his surroundings, it dawned upon Miguel that this was no dream.
"No dream is this real", he spoke out loud, staring up at the sky in wonderment. How long had it been since he had seen the sky? Probably since his escape last year. His suspicious were confirmed when Miguel tripped up on a tree root and hit the ground face first. It hurt but the pain simply caused him to laugh. This was real! He could feel the grass beneath his body and Miguel kissed the ground with joy. "I'm free", he laughed, climbing to his feet before crying out, "I'm free!"
That was when Miguel realized he wasn’t alone.
