Day Seven
Who: Tyler and Jack H.
When: Mid-afternoon on day seven.
Where: Outdoor pool
Why: Swimming time!

Another day in paradise or another day hell, depending on how you wanted to look at it. Tyler awoke in his usual grumpy fashion since it was early and he couldn't get back to sleep. He lazed about in his bed for a good hour before admitting defeat and climbing out. After a quick shower the blond man threw on some clothes and headed down to the restaurant. There was no way he was cooking breakfast for himself when he could get someone else to do it for free. The young man indulged a little by getting bacon and eggs along with a nice strong cup of coffee. After breakfast was done he kind of just lazed around, idly checking out the arcade and sitting room.

Eventually he got sick of being indoors, especially with the bright sunny day looking so inviting outside the window so Tyler headed back to his room to grab a pair of dark blue swimming trunks and towel before heading down to the outside pool. He had kinda been feeling a bit down that morning but once Tyler was outside his mood began to improve. The air smelled sweet and floral, making Tyler's mind drift to memories of the girls from the clinic as he reached the pool. They were not unpleasant thoughts since Tyler was more than friendly with the girls at the clinic. Maybe there's some girls down by the pool, he silently hoped.

Sadly, Tyler didn't get his wish and instead found the pool empty but that wasn't so bad either. The bright, jewel colored water looked very inviting as Tyler slung his towel over a lounge seat and headed for the ladder. Cool water soon enveloped his body, a pleasant sensation that caused Tyler to sigh deeply.

Maybe being stuck on this planet isn't so bad.

Jack was amused at the young man's initial reaction. He was used to being stared at, appreciated and given the proverbial once over. He liked it and usually took advantage of it. He'd done that less often in recent years and even less so since Ianto had come into his life but that didn't mean he didn't flirt.

The young man swum over and Jack let his gaze drift over what he could see of the man. He was certainly attractive enough and he was in good shape as his swimming trunks revealed quite easily. It was the expression on his face that got Jack's attention soon enough though. That initial appreciation was still there but it had been joined by something that almost looked like confusion. Jack carefully refrained from laughing. He'd gotten that sort of reaction before, especially during the 20th and 21st centuries. He certainly didn't assume it was caused by anything other than himself. Humans in that time were so repressed and felt the need to put labels on everything, including labels of wrong and right. It made little sense to Jack. Attraction didn't care about gender and certainly sex didn't. Hell, the human race had eventually discovered that even species didn't matter all that much.

He crouched down beside the edge of the pool, his coat pooling around him as he did. "Captain Jack Harkness. Call me Jack."

"Jack", Tyler repeated, liking the sound of the name before adding, "It's nice to meet you. Um...you're a captain?" he questioned. Tyler had to say something to cover his staring but eventually he remembered himself and calmed down a little. Enough that he was no longer turning red. If Tyler didn't even get like that with girls he liked then he sure as hell wasn't going to be acting like a fool in front of Jack.

Before this moment Tyler had never really looked at a man but now he couldn't stop himself from picturing the captain naked. Jesus christ, what is wrong with me? part of his mind demanded but another part was wondering if Jack would join him for a swim. Before Tyler could stop himself, he opened his mouth.

"You should join me. The water is great". Oh crap! Why did I do that? I sound like a dork, Tyler silently lamented but he still gave the man a hopeful look.

"Mmhmm," Jack said with a smile. He didn't offer any further information. It was a bit hard to explain bnoth about the Time Agency and his stint in the RAF in the 1940s to a complete stranger. He was amused at the way the young man kept staring at him. He hadn't had a reaction like this since... well, since about two weeks ago but he'd been distracted from that by Ianto... and the large weevil that had decided to crash the party.

He raised an eyebrow at the invitation then chuckled and trailed his hand in the water. "Mmm, it does feel good," he said with a quick grin and some very deliberate innuendo. "But I don't have a bathing suit." A naughty look grew in his eyes as the possibility of a bit of skinny dipping grew in his mind.

That's okay! Tyler nearly blurted out loud but he had to bite his tongue to stop himself. "Ow", he silently murmured when he stopped biting himself. It was a stupid mistake on Tyler behalf because once he stopped trying to stop himself from talking it seemed like the blond just couldn't shut up.

"That...that doesn't bother me. I mean, you know we're both guys so it's not like you've got something I haven't seen before. Not that I look at naked guys regularly or nearly guys, I mean we're all just the same when you get down to it. So it doesn't bother me", Tyler repeated as silently ordered himself to shut the fuck up. Already his cheeks were starting to turn. To cover his embarrassment, Tyler swam a little bit away from Jack but that didn't stop Tyler from talking.

"It's a really nice pool. Great for laps", he said, feeling like a dork for talking about the pool. It if was a girl he was attracted to Tyler would have been more confident and a helluva lot smoother but unfortunately for him it wasn't a girl. It was a guy he wanted and Tyler didn't have a clue how to handle that.

Jack frowned slightly when Tyler muttered something softly but quickly dismissed it and grinned when he continued on to babble on. He actually wasn't sure whether Tyler was interested or not, he was definitely sending some mixed signals. Still there was no harm in having a little fun.

"Fair enough," Jack said as he stood up. He walked over to the nearest lounge seat and pulled off his coat, draping it over the back. He then proceeded to systematically strip off his clothes - not slowly but enough to give Tyler a bit of a show. He'd often joked with Ianto that he could go from clothed to naked in zero point six seconds but there was also a time and place for a bit of a strip tease.

Once he was naked, he turned around and walked back over to the edge of the pool. "Let's see how good it really feels," he said with another of those naughty grins then he dived into the water and swam underwater for a short distance before surfacing. He slicked his wet hair back and laughed. "You're right. This does feel good."

What the hell have I gotten myself into? Tyler wondered as Jack started undressing but he found himself unable to look away. How was it possible that Tyler had never noticed how attractive a man could be before now? Finally he forced his eyes away and tried very, very hard to think about something else. A splash was heard and Tyler felt the water move as Jack dove into the water. Tyler glanced at the brunette man just as he broke the surface of the water and gave Tyler a grin. The blond felt a lump form his throat and got that nervous butterfly feeling in his stomach. Part of him felt like throwing up due to nervousness and the other....well, Tyler had trouble admitting such urges even in his mind.

Denial, as always, seemed like the safest route to take. Tyler simply ignored his internal struggle and tried to focus on the present. They were just two guys going for a swim, it was perfectly innocent. Perfectly innocent? a sly voice in his mind laughed. Please, you’re thoughts are nowhere near innocent right now Tyler. Out loud, Tyler tried to continue with some normal conversation to distract himself from the very attractive, very naked man in the pool with him.

“Uh, yeah. The water’s great. So Jack, where are you from originally before the planet nabbed you?” he asked before idly swimming closer to the man. It was an unconscious action on Tyler’s behalf and he tried to hide his own surprise when he realized what he was doing. “Um…this is some place, isn’t it? Freaky how it kinda just grabbed ass…I mean, grabbed us all”.

Jack watched with amusement as Tyler swam closer. Oh yeah, his signals were all over the place. It almost seemed as if subconsciously he wanted one thing... Jack... but consciously he was trying to resist. Jack felt like he'd never understand the 21st century. Why deny something that you wanted?

He chuckled and stayed where he was, allowing Tyler to close the distance between them. "That's almost two different question," he said with a grin. "Originally is a very long story but I was in Cardiff when the planet grabbed me."

"Yes, it is," Jack said, trying not to laugh at the young man's slip of the tongue. It wasn't a bad one as those things went. "I like it but frankly I'd like to get back home even more."

He paused for a moment, weighing things up in his mind then he gave a mental shrug. His eyes lit up with mischief and he pushed off the bottom, sliding around Tyler and letting one hand brush over the young man's arse before swimming off towards the other end of the pool.

"I don't know," he called back over his shoulder, laughter in his voice. "That's a prety good arse to grab."

Cardiff? Tyler had never heard of the place or at least he didn’t recognize it. “Where’s Cardiff to?” the blond asked outloud, trying to keep his eyes above Jack’s neck. “Yeah, I wouldn’t mind getting home either”, Tyler added. “I’m sure I’ve probably been fired now due to all the work I’ve missed thanks to this planet”. Jack was giving Tyler a mischievous look then, a look that Tyler’s heart beat a little faster. The next thing the young man knew, Jack had touched his ass!

His mouth fell open with shock but that wasn’t the only sensation that went through Tyler. For a moment he simply floated there, unsure how to react when he suddenly started laughing. A red flush crept over his cheeks once more. “Thanks Jack. Glad you noticed”. Tyler wasn’t about to let Jack get away with that and soon started swimming after him. It took a moment to catch up since Jack appeared to be a strong swimmer but Tyler was a pretty good swimmer himself. Once he was along side of Jack, he gave the man a brilliant grin.

“You know, there’s a price to paid for touching my ass Jack”, he said with a flirtatious air about him.

"Wales, United Kingdom," Jack said then he grimaced. "I've kind of been hoping that whatever's going on here means that no time has passed back home."

He pushed those thoughts aside and grinned when Tyler finally reacted to his move. Interesting. He'd wondered whether he might get punched. It wouldn't be the first time though it hadn't happened all that often. But Tyler seemed fine with it, which offered all sorts of interesting possibilities.

His grin became decidedly wicked. "Is there?" he said with mock-innocence, letting himself drift closer until they were almost touching. "And what might that be?"

“Nothing too big”, Tyler assured him when Jack’s body drifted closer. “Just this”. With those words Tyler leaned in an quickly planted a kiss on Jack, no doubt surprising the captain but it certainly surprised Tyler. Thanks to Tyler’s surprise, it wasn’t a very long kiss as he pulled away shortly after yet he was further shocked when he realized he actually liked it.

It wasn’t any different from kissing a girl, he silently noted but the blond felt a little awkward now after being so forward. To apologize would have pointless since it was obvious Tyler meant to do it and Jack hadn’t objected but he felt like he had to say something.

“That’s the first time I’ve ever kissed a man”, he blurted. Oh brilliant! The young man silently mocked himself while saying to Jack, “But you probably already figured that out”. Their bodies drifted there, not touching but Tyler had an nearly overwhelming urge to reach out to Jack. To run his finger along that wet collar bone, to touch that chest with his hands, to…Okay! Eyes above the water there Tyler!

Tyler jerked his head and glued his eyes to Jack’s face. If it was a chick who caught him doing that Tyler probably would have been slapped.

Jack was surprised when Tyler kissed him but only because the young man had been giving off such conflicting signals. It was bad as such things went. A little short and oddly inexperienced but not too bad at all.

“Nice,” he said with a smile then he chuckled. “I had kind of figured.” He watched as Tyler’s eyes drifted down before he yanked them back up. “Nothing wrong with that. Kind of flattered you chose me.”

He grinned when Tyler looked back up at him. “It’s okay, you know. I’m not offended. It’s not the first time I’ve kissed a man. I’ve got a bit of experience at that sort of thing.” He reached out and caught Tyler’s hand, bringing it up to rest against his chest. “You can touch me, if you want. Or not. Whatever you like.”

He gave a brief thought to Ianto but... the younger man wasn’t here and Ianto knew him better than most. It wasn’t like this meant anything or was even going to go anywhere. It was just a bit of fun. He wouldn’t be surprised if Tyler backed off. He was even ready for Tyler to take a swing at him. It had happened before and he’d always been careful to restrain but no hurt those ones. Not their fault they came from such a repressed century.
