Who? The Doctor & Rose
Where? The TARDIS, then hiking and hot-springs.
When? Day five, late afternoon.
What? Just chilling and chatting.
Rating: PG-13 to be safe. Nakedness within.
Status: Complete, threaded.

Stressed didn't quite cover it. The TARDIS was stuck, it was undeniable now... and not only was she stuck, but with every day that passed the Doctor was convinced she was losing a little of her glow. Sometimes, when he let pessimism take over, the Doctor was almost prepared to accept that she might be dying on him. He couldn't let that happen, not like this, not because of some stupid planet that got bored.

He'd been fiddling about with the circuits for a good couple of hours, and still he had next to nothing to report. Sliding the floor panel back into place he moved somberly to the control panel, his face feeling a little naked without its trademark cheshire cat grin and his hearts feeling heavy in his chest. He ran his hand affectionately along the top of the panel, sighing softly before he started to start up yet another systems test. "Come on, love. I only want you to move forward five minutes in time, and five metres to the south," he practically whispered to the unusually unresponsive ship. The engines purred, seemingly trying to soothe his anguish and assure him that she was trying her best. "I know, love," he said, as if he were really talking to a close companion, which in many ways he was.

The central column light up, the familiar whirring sound of the engines groaning into action. "That's it, beautiful... come on!" he encouraged. "Yes! Almost there! Come on!" he yelled with a little more enthusiasm, yanking levers with a certain amount of eagerness. "I'll settle for one metre! Please! You're so close!" he insisted, gripping the side of the console in suspense, that grin slipping onto his face just for a second. It quickly faded as the lights dimmed, and he glanced over to check the time on the scanner. "Never mind, love. We'll get there," he insisted, leaning to press a wet kiss against the metal surface.

He grinned widely, nodding along as she struggled to explain herself. He couldn't help but laugh again as she finally got the right explanation out.

"Good! I liked it, too," he agreed, feeling a little giddy about it. He leaned back again, smiling contentedly at the resolution, despite the slight anxiety in his stomach. And yet, he knew that he had no need to feel anxious. It was Rose... everything would be fine, how could it not be?

"Oh. Good." Rose smiled and leaned over for one more kiss and then leaned back. She didn't need to ask anymore questions about this..whatever. She was content to let it unfold as it would. And hey? She liked getting to kiss him if she wanted to. "So where else do you think we should go? Oh! We never did get to Barcelona!"

He gave a soft sigh, feeling quite at ease with the new situation. Somewhere at the back of his mind he knew that there would be complications, leading to long, serious discussions, and probably a lot of painful times down the road he seemed to be choosing. But it all seemed worth it, and for the time being he was content to let the thoughts remain at the back of his mind. Not forgotten exactly, but rather acknowledged and dismissed. It would be worth it, he felt strangely sure of that.

"Oh, good point! Definitely pop Barcelona on the list, it'd be a right shame to miss that one out! No noses!" he reminded her, like an excited child. "Mm, and then there's the Eye of Orion, that's one of the most peaceful..." he trailed off, suddenly remembering the reason he hadn't taken her there. The war memorial. He dismissed it quickly. "Well, maybe not, but definitely Gotta Floco. Fun to say and to see! Diamond coral reefs... amazing."

"I wouldn't know," she said with a laugh. "Seeing as the last time we tried to go we ended up back at home instead of Barcelona." She grinned. "It all sounds fantastic. But you know I'll like just about anywhere you take me."

She smiled at his obvious enthusiasm- she always did love that. It made things so much more fun, after all! "Are the coral reefs really made out of diamonds?"

"Aww, but we got to have Christmas with your mum!" he pointed out. "That's got to be more unusual than Barcelona! Well, for me at least. Proper Christmas dinner with hats and everything!" It was strange the things that he did with Rose; he'd never really had anything so close to a family celebration before. It was nice, as much as he hated to admit it.

"Well, if you'd like anywhere, then we might as well go to Clom!" he teased. "Yeah, really. It's wonderful, because on a lot of planets you'd just get people mining it and selling it all off, but it's protected there. Just there to admire in its natural beauty."

"That we did," she said, smiling a little as she thought about her mum. She sighed softly and rested her head on his shoulder again-- she did actually miss Jackie, and she wished she could call her to let her know that she was okay, but even her phone wasn't working here. "And it might be more unusual for you, but it wasn't so different for me!"

She scrunched up her nose at the mention of Clom. Then again... "You know. Is it really as bad as everybody seems to think it is? I bet we could make an adventure of it!"

"Well, at least there was a bit of excitement with the Sycorax. Plus, your mum seemed to appreciate it. Sort of. Except for the whole killer tree thing, that was... not good," he pointed out.

"No idea! Never been," he admitted. He knew as little about Clom as Rose did. Perhaps he had been too quick to judge. "Hey, only one way to find out!" he grinned; dear god, was he actually suggesting a trip to Clom? Maybe it would surprise him.

"We should head back before it gets dark," he pointed out, watching the sun start to dip toward the horizon. Still, he didn't make any move right away.

"There was that. And...no, that wasn't very good. But we got it cleaned up! And you saved the day! I was so proud of you." She'd been afraid, admittedly, and still a little nervous about that new him-- but hey, she'd never seen a regeneration before! She hadn't known what to expect. "But yes. We could go sometimes!"

"Hmm. Probably," she agreed, though she didn't make any move to leave, either. She looked up to the sky, smiling as it turned a slight pink and then she sighed. "Alright, we'll go. Just as soon as I find the energy- or motivation- to leave."

He giggled slightly as she told him she had been proud of him. "Oh, you were pretty impressive yourself!" he told her. Well, she had thrown him a sword, nursed him back to health, and managed to stay somewhat calm despite the fact he'd just changed every cell in his body with very little warning for her. "Right. Florana, Gotta Floco, and Clom. Oh, and Barcelona, must stop skipping over Barcelona!"

He sighed softly, moving to wrap an arm around her shoulders, pulling her to him as he placed another gentle kiss on top of her head. He hadn't imagined the day would end watching the sunset with her while naked in a hot pool. "Well, we can always use the path this time," he pointed out, equally reluctant to budge.

"Barcelona first," she said with a laugh. "Then Florana, Gotta Floco, and Clom, yes. And wherever else the TARDIS decides to drop us off at on the way. Home might be nice. You know, to check in with mum and all. If you don't mind?"

She smiled as his arm went around her shoulders, and it struck her then that maybe this should be a little more awkward than it was, but she was quite comfortable with him like this, after the initial awkwardness. "Yeah, but that wouldn't be nearly as fun, would it?"

"Yeah, we'd better go to Barcelona first or we'll never end up getting there!" he laughed; it was good to plan, but their trips rarely went according to plan. At least Clom was at the bottom of the list - with any luck, they'd forget all about it. "Yeah, maybe we can aim for another holiday. Easter with your mum!" he said, only half-joking. "Or halloween. That might be more amusing. I have a good costume section in that wardrobe, you might have noticed!" he laughed. He wasn't sure that Jackie would appreciate them turning up shouting 'trick or treat!' at her.

"Nah, you've got a point. We can use the sonic for light if it gets too tricky, I suppose," he pointed out, relaxing into silence as they watched the sunset. He smiled over at her affectionately as it grew darker, and eventually gave her a little nudge. "Come on then, I don't fancy carrying you back when you twist your ankle. And I certainly don't fancy it the other way around!" he teased.

"No, that wouldn't be fun. You'd have to sit still for at least tonight, and you'd drive us both mad." She grinned and nudged him back, then turned to quickly kiss him before she untangled herself from him and turned to get out of the water, making her way to where they left their clothes.

"Do you think we can stop off at the TARDIS to change?"

"Okay, maybe we should avoid holidays. Bad things happen at Christmas!" he reminded her. "Killer Easter Bunnies would not be appealing. And at halloween... we're just asking for trouble. Too many masks!" he pointed out, although his tone seemed to suggest that it wouldn't necessarily be too bad a thing. In fact, he secretly thought that a halloween based adventure would be quite fantastic.

Despite having become quite relaxed in the hot spring itself, the strange feeling of anxiety returned to him as they made their way back to their clothes. At least the dusk was slightly better than the harsh light of day. "Yeah, that's probably a good idea," he agreed, quickly starting to redress, paying a great deal of attention to his own trousers so as to avoid looking in her direction. "I know the room gives us a wardrobe, but it's just not quite the same!"

"Killer Easter Bunnies?" Rose lifted an eyebrow, then giggled, shaking her head. "You're very right. We wouldn't know if we're chasing aliens or very convincing children!"

Rose tried not to let it get uncomfortable as they made their way back to their clothes. She glanced once to him before she moved to pick hers up and quickly pulled them back on, scrunching up her nose as they stuck to her wet skin. "It really isn't. It's tried to replicate most of my wardrobe from back home but something about it just doesn't seem right. I think it's the smell or something-- I'm not really sure."

"Hey, you never know with us! They might have razor teeth and... and... baskets of grenade-eggs?" he suggested, before giving into his laughter. Really, it probably wouldn't surprise him, but it sounded so ridiculous. "Oh, I can picture some very disgruntled parents!" he agreed.

He pulled his shirt on, shrugging his shoulders in discomfort as the thin fabric clung to his skin, going almost see-through instantly. They were going to freeze on the way back. "Yeah, I think the replicas will just be emergency clothing," he agreed, deciding to use his socks to dry his feet before shoving them into his pockets. It would be easier to have bare feet in trainers than wet feet in socks.

"Sounds rather Monty Python, if you ask me," she said with a laugh, pulling a face at her clothing.

"I like the sound of that," she said, crouching down to tug on her shoes and then straightening, reaching for his hand. "Come on, Doctor. We'll change and then figure out what we'll do from there."

"I love Monty Python," he grinned, rather pleased about the comparison. "Always look on the bright side of life!" he quoted, laughing softly. That seemed to sum them up quite well these days.

He reached out to pick up his coat, folding it over one arm since there was no point in putting it on top of his soaked shirt. He reached for her hand, unable to wipe the smile off his face as they headed back the way they had came, excited for what the rest of the evening had to offer them.
