Entry tags:complete, day 5, rose tyler, the doctor

Who? The Doctor & Rose
Where? The TARDIS, then hiking and hot-springs.
When? Day five, late afternoon.
What? Just chilling and chatting.
Rating: PG-13 to be safe. Nakedness within.
Status: Complete, threaded.

Stressed didn't quite cover it. The TARDIS was stuck, it was undeniable now... and not only was she stuck, but with every day that passed the Doctor was convinced she was losing a little of her glow. Sometimes, when he let pessimism take over, the Doctor was almost prepared to accept that she might be dying on him. He couldn't let that happen, not like this, not because of some stupid planet that got bored.

He'd been fiddling about with the circuits for a good couple of hours, and still he had next to nothing to report. Sliding the floor panel back into place he moved somberly to the control panel, his face feeling a little naked without its trademark cheshire cat grin and his hearts feeling heavy in his chest. He ran his hand affectionately along the top of the panel, sighing softly before he started to start up yet another systems test. "Come on, love. I only want you to move forward five minutes in time, and five metres to the south," he practically whispered to the unusually unresponsive ship. The engines purred, seemingly trying to soothe his anguish and assure him that she was trying her best. "I know, love," he said, as if he were really talking to a close companion, which in many ways he was.

The central column light up, the familiar whirring sound of the engines groaning into action. "That's it, beautiful... come on!" he encouraged. "Yes! Almost there! Come on!" he yelled with a little more enthusiasm, yanking levers with a certain amount of eagerness. "I'll settle for one metre! Please! You're so close!" he insisted, gripping the side of the console in suspense, that grin slipping onto his face just for a second. It quickly faded as the lights dimmed, and he glanced over to check the time on the scanner. "Never mind, love. We'll get there," he insisted, leaning to press a wet kiss against the metal surface.

"Definitely," Rose said. "It does. Like you've plucked zombie bits and dropped them into a cauldron and made a potion of some sort."

She burst into laughter as he sped up, and she began to jog along beside him. "What's up here?" she asked, knowing he probably didn't know any more than she did, and she slowed as they reached the clearing. "Oh, wow..."

"We've found... something!" he exclaimed, not entirely sure what it was that they had found. He breathed deeply, the air suddenly feeling a lot thicker, hints of a variety of mineral lingering in the air. "Huh, smells like radium," he said, as if that was the sort of smell everyone was meant to detect with a vague sniff of the air.

He moved with absolute no regard for personal safety, hopping over rocks and uneven ground. "Oh. That's weird!" he commented, finally drawing close enough to spot the hot spings.
