Day Five
Who: Ginny and Tonks
When: Day Five, around 11 AM
Where: Outside the Resort
What: Ginny arrives!
Rating: PG-13, because Ms. Weasley is not a happy camper.
Status: Complete

Strange things rarely happened to Ginevra Molly Weasley, if she could be perfectly honest with herself. There was that thing with the diary in her first year, but that was basically it. Trouble and oddities didn't follow her--at least not like they did Harry.

Harry. Her mouth tightened into a thin line as she staggered to her feet from where she'd fallen so roughly into the sand. Good Merlin but that boy was a daft idiot sometimes. Telling her he didn't want her playing Quidditch when she'd just made first-string Chaser! The git hadn't even proposed to her, just assumed the two were going to be getting married and going on about how no wife of his was going to be playing Quidditch around raising a family. He wanted her to stay at home and be just like her Mum. She couldn't believe his nerve, and if this... whatever this was... was his idea of an apology, then he had another think coming! Gwenog was going to be furious that he'd... done whatever he did... portkey, perhaps... and right in the middle of the opening game at that. FURIOUS. And Ginny was going to bear the entire brunt of that fury too.

She looked around her warily, noting sand that seemed to stretch in all directions. Just what was Harry playing at? She noticed something shadowy off in the distance--mountains or forest, perhaps, but then her attention was drawn to a tiny dot on the horizon that seemed to be getting closer. She bent to retrieve her broom from the ground, thankful her beloved Firebolt wasn't broken, and gripped her wand tightly in her left hand. When she next saw Harry she was going to give him the hexing of a lifetime, starting with her infamous Bat-Bogey Hex.

The dot was getting larger as it got closer. She bet it was Harry.

"HARRY JAMES POTTER! I've never in my life been so furious at you! What's the meaning of this?" she shouted, jaw set firmly and foot tapping impatiently. But the figure wasn't Harry. In fact, the figure was someone different, someone she shouldn't have been seeing. Unless...

"Tonks?!" she blurted out. "But y..you...you're dead! You've been dead!" Her eyes widened as a thought came to her. "Am I dead too?"

She was kind of hoping that she didn't have to meet anyone today. Not that she ever had to, of course, but whenever she saw the blinking key she couldn't quite make herself stay put. Simply put, the 'saving people' thing that Harry had, was sort of a trait of all Aurors. They wouldn't be called to that sort of job, otherwise. She had it in spades, and helping someone adjust to this strange new place was a way she could do that.

So, when in the lobby she saw a blinking key, she laughed softly to herself, and rolled her eyes just a little. Every day, it seemed, she'd been meeting some other poor sod the planet had dragged away. Today was to be no different. Still, part of her enjoyed it, she could admit. Anyways, it helped her figure out who was interested in getting away from here. The more resources she had with that, the better.

She headed out, having no clue where the new arrival was. It was a warm day, and she was glad she'd chosen practical clothes. Still, she was sure she'd find whoever it was fairly quickly. She knew the Ranch pretty well by now. A quick sweep of the grounds revealed nothing, so she headed off into the desert.

Nothing could have prepared her for who she found. It started when she heard the scream of a very familiar voice, yelling a very familiar name in a very annoyed tone. She stopped, and then laughed out loud in pure delight. She wasn't alone anymore. She ran over to the young witch, for she'd always been friendly with all the Weasley family, and exuberantly wrapped her arms around her in a tight hug.

"Wotcher, Ginny? Merlin, I'm glad to see you, you have no idea. You can help us get out of here, I know it. No, you aren't dead. You've been taken, just like I was a few days ago."

"Days?" Ginny laughed mirthlessly. She was absolutely sure she was dead now. Still, she hugged the older woman back. There had been so much destruction, so many dead.

"Everyone knows you've been missing for years, since shortly after V..Voldemort's second acknowledged rise. Nothing ever found of you, so you must be dead."

Tonks stepped back a step, and gave the young woman a strange look. Nothing she had just said made any sense to her. Well, except for the thing about Voldemort. That was a pretty big thing, actually.

"I was taken then, Gin, but that was only... I think about five days ago. Not that long, and I'm not dead. I'm here."

She tilted her head to the side and frowned thoughtfully. She wondered idly if the trip had somehow addled the young woman's mind... but then she'd never seen that happen with all the people she'd greeted.

"Tonks... I'm twenty... you've been missing over four years. Well more than five days." Ginny looked around warily. "So this is the afterlife, huh? Kinda... sandy. Surely there's more to this place or you'd feel like you've been missing more than five days."

Tonks rolled her eyes. She knew better than to argue with the redhead for very long about anything. Besides, she'd see for herself.

"Alright, then, Gin. You can be dead if you want, but I'm not. Follow me."

She stopped before she turned back to face her. Pulling the key out of her pocket, she tossed it to her.

"Catch. It's your room key."

With that being said, she turned back around and started walking, well, really more tripping, over to the main buildings. If she still knew the younger witch at all, she would follow.

Keys and rooms in the afterlife? What a strange concept. Gin caught said key unconsciously and gave the older girl a half-hearted glare before following her.

"Well, if I'm not dead... then what is this place, and how in Merlin's name did I get here? How did you get here, for that matter?"

"This is Mirage."

She cast a glance over her shoulder before pushing open the door to the main building with the plaque in it. It should explain better than she should.

"It's a planet, we were brought here. Hold on, read this and if you have more questions, you can ask then."

She waited patiently, leaning against a wall as the younger witch read the plaque.

She read the plaque disbelievingly, then read it again.

"Oooo....kay, so we're on some crazy planet that decided to kidnap us for fun?" She scowled. "I was starting for my first bloody Quidditch match with the Harpies!!!"

Tonks tilted her head to the side and frowned thoughtfully.

"Yeah, that's about the size of it. We're stuck here. Marcus and I, he's a friend I made here, we're trying to get off Mirage and go back home, but..."

She shrugged, to indicate they had had no luck.

"Anyways, you're going to need some time alone, I think. I'll show you your room, and then leave you to think."

"Yeah.. maybe." She looked at the key number for a minute, her voice small as she continued. "...Tonks? I'm sorry for freaking out. This is just... upsetting. I'm glad you aren't dead."

Tonks smiled at the girl, who had been one of her dear friends while she was still on Earth. Of course, Ginny had been much younger then, but now they were closer in age, it was all the more reason for them to be friends.

"It's alright, Gin. I didn't react very well myself, but trust me, the time alone to think helps."

She linked her arm through the younger girls and started leading her towards her room. She'd glanced at the key, and remembered the number. B 146, so she led her friend towards the B Dormitory.

Gin followed her hesitantly, taking in her surroundings with wide eyes. "This is... really luxurious."

They stopped in front of her door and she slid the key into the lock. Turning, she wrapped her arms around Tonks in a loose hug. "Thank you."

Tonks grinned and hugged the other woman back before stepping away.

"No problem, oh! The room looks however you want, just concentrate and it changes."

She smiled and turned to go, calling over her shoulder.

"If you need me, come get me, okay? I'm around all the time, of course. W'ell talk again when you've settled in."

"Sounds great," she replied as she stepped into the room. She shut the door softly behind her, biting her lip in concentration as she focused on how she wanted the room to look.
