Premonition
Who: River, Laura, and Andy
What: Premonition and probably some fighting somwhere in there...
When: Day 34
Rating: TBD
Status: Active

River was walking barefoot along the shoreline in the early afternoon. It was her third day at Mirage and she was starting to adjust a bit to her surroundings. She had been fortunete enough to find people in this place that were similar to her; people who understood her. She was starting to consider that the planet was trying to bring people from other worlds together. Although she did not want to go as far as considering it was anything good.

Halfway along, River was able to spot Laura. She awkwardly waved at the woman. She was surprised to find her out in during the day. Then again, Laura did say she only prefered the night. River smiled a little and started to go in the woman's direction when she noticed another figure nearby.

When River was attempting to identify who the man was when something hit her and she fell back onto the sand, the wind knocked out of her. She started to shiver and shake. River knew what it was but she tried to fight it. She wished she didn't have to go through it every time her brain wanted to show her something. Flashes of large green figures flew across her eyes. River shook her head from side to side a bit. She tried to shake it away. But the figures persisted. River screamed out in pain as the one of the green figures ran after her. It scratched at her and everything went black for a moment. River was able to pull herself out and stared straight into the sky. she screamed again and focused on Laura and...Andy's faces. "They're coming!" She forced out. She heard some questions being thrown at her and was able to respond "Lizards!"

Notorious for hating daylight because it made her look positively inhuman, she had, against her better judgment, wandered out. She was tired of only seeing people at night, tired of always being locked up during the day. She couldn't pester L all the time, couldn't be constantly crawling up his rear end. She liked to keep an eye on him, but she wasn't going to be a bother. She needed to go out on her own. The day before she'd taken it upon herself to go out, in the daylight, and talk to that other man from L's home world. She'd given him something to think about, that was the least.

She had decided upon the lake today because she had assumed that it would be deserted. It was quickly coming to her attention that she was wrong. Laura had felt Andy long before she'd seen him; familiar soul were a lot easier to keep track of. She had turned around, looking for his physical form to appear, and that was when she saw River. It annoyed her that she could not find River with her abilities because River was not human in the traditional sense. It seemed it only worked on people that she knew from Earth Proper, the place that she knew and loved. Two familiar faces? What were the odds of that when she was trying to be alone? The world had a really funny way about it; it liked to deal her a steaming pile of irony every few days or so.

Her hand absently lifted to give Andy a wave, and that's when she noticed the unsteadiness in River. Though she hated to, Laura used her superhuman speed. She was at River's side in time to catch the girl an inch or so before she hit the ground. "Seizure?" she asked, using her strength to hold the girl's head still so she wouldn't hurt herself. Those dark, dead eyes stared down at River. "Come back. Come back to us in the here and now? Who's coming?" Lizards. "Lizards?" That caught her off guard. Luckily, her voice was always that strange, blunt force, so it sounded more like the echoing of a fact.

Looking up at Andy, Laura gave a lopsided smile. She hadn't seen him in person for a while. And that wtf?! face was absolutely priceless. Lifting River with little effort, she set her on her feet, dusting her off. "Need to be careful. That was quite the fall, River."

River leaned a bit on Laura as she tried to focus back on the present. She still shook from the aftereffects of the premonition. Turning around herself trying to see where they were coming, she caught Andy's wtf look, sitting on the ground. She tilted her head and shot him a get real it's just a premonition look to him. "Who are you?" she said trying to understand who this person was.

River was hit again by the green image and looked in the direction of the woods. "There." she said, pointing at the trees. "They're coming from over there." River started to absent-mindedly walk back in the direction of the resort. "Pain. Kidnapping..." she let herself trail off as she slipped into fight mode.

Andy stood again. Laura looked like she had it handled well enough. He gave her a small, sheepish smile back, missing River's returned glance entirely.

"Andy," he replied. "I'm Andy." He'd heard Laura call the girl by name; River. He'd talked to her. "The guy with the mind...control...thing..." he offered awkwardly.

She was talking about the lizards and pointing at the trees. His eyes followed her finger. There was nothing there. "Okay, look, listen...it's just a hallucination," he assured River. "Everybody's having them. It's just the Planet messing with you. Try and relax, okay? It'll stop," he said gently, but confidently. He was sure it was bullshit.

Andy looked over at Laura. "You got this? If everybody's gonna be trippin' out, I'd rather do it on my terms," he said, reaching a hand into his pocket and pulling out a bag of weed before shoving it back into his pocket again. "But I'm heading back inside. You guys gonna be okay? You should go back to your rooms, there's nothing to worry about. Sam would've gotten a premonition; he would've said. He gets premonitions for really dangerous stuff but only that stuff, you know? So it's okay," he said. He was, himself, convinced, but he wanted for the women to be, as well, before he took his leave.

"Yes," she replied, looking up at him. The smile...that was nice. At least he wasn't so afraid of her that he couldn't smile. She nodded. "I've got it. Don't worry."

Her dark eyes glazed over for a moment. Lizards. Danger. L! "River, get up." She grabbed the girl's arm and, using her superhuman strength, all but yanked her to her feet. "River, snap out of it." Her voice was dead and flat as she turned to look the girl in the eyes. A pause. "You seem fine. I must go now. I have to find someone. I promised to protect him and this is most inconvenient.

Impulse carrying her, she turned and raced past Andy at top speed. She tried to focus on all of the lights that humans gave off, but it seemed that River had been right. Anarchy and chaos had broken out inside, and she was too worried to focus properly. Running for the resort, she bit her lower lip. Hopefully she'd find him in time, even if she didn't know where she was going.
