Rating: PG-ish

Although he'd lived for more years than humans had even existed for, he'd never had a day like the one he'd had yesterday. It seemed there were a lot of 'nevers' going on in his life recently, actually. He'd never been kidnapped before, only now Mirage had changed that. He'd never been bowling before... and he chose not to think much about that, But above all, he'd never had coffee with his nemesis, and had never expected to. Even kings who had been alive for thousands of years don't know everything, apparently.

Though no one would have known it simply by looking at him, he was still hashing the whole thing over in his mind. What had happened, and why? In the end, though, he'd been able to come to only one conclusion. He wasn't exactly sure the why and how of it all, but he was sure of one thing. He hadn't hated anything that had happened, no matter how awkward it had been. Perhaps that was enough.

He'd gone back to his room after the odd chat with Sarah, and been there ever since, thinking it through. Now, however, it was time to get out of there. So he left the room that was the spitting image of his throne room in the Castle at the center of the Labyrinth, after dressing in his more typcial Fae style. Jeremy, it would seem, was not an everyday sort of thing here. And he was much more comfortable in the outlandish, romantic clothing he favored. Mortal clothing was so strange.

The king didn't have any particular plans, he just didn't want to spend any more time in his room. So, thinking he would perhaps take a walk (and just happen to stroll past Sarah's room), he turned the doorknob and stepped out his door into the hallway beyond it.

Sarah wrinkled her nose prettily in disgust. "Rats? That does not sound very appetizing at all, even if they do say 'It tastes like chicken.' I guess it I was desperate enough I might eat it though. Hm." She could imagine being that desperate anymore, for which she was grateful. At least here she would always have what she needed.

She felt the loss as he let her arm go but she simply smiled as he held the door for her. "Thank you, she said and because they weren't there to have a private conversation, she slid into a seat at the first available table which happened to be near a large window from which she could almost see the river.

She had indeed read a lot. For a time, before the labyrinth, she had read everything she could find on Roman, Greek and Norse mythology. Her repertoire was a little rusty but she did remember some things, like the pomegranates.

"I guess I'd have to say I'm very partial to sushi these days. Do you like sushi?" She didn't bother asking if he'd tried it. If he'd had coffee, he must have been on Earth at some point and had the opportunity to try sushi. "There's nothing I wouldn't do for a good plate of sake, unagi and maybe a spicy shrimp roll."

"Rats? Like chicken?" He shook his head, glancing over at her once more as they moved into the restaurant. "I don't think so. And I should think I would need to be very desperate indeed... but the Goblins like the rats." There was no accounting for taste.

He nodded and stepped into the restaurant behind her, going to the table and settling himself down at it. It was pretty bland, similar to a normal restaurant that one could find pretty much anywhere on earth. But the view was quite lovely, and he approved of the choice to sit by the window.

"Yes, I like sushi. Though it's odd, isn't it? We'll eat seaweed but not rats." He shrugged slightly and waved the waiter over. "California roll, kappa maki, and green tea, please." Obviously, he had done this before. "Oh, and miso soup." He added, and then waited as the creature turned to Sarah, waiting for her order.

"Mm, well I wouldn't know about rats tasting like anything so I'll take your word for it," she replied and her tone was slightly teasing, her nose wrinkled again as she said the word "rats."

It was nice that he liked sushi. It was something they had in common. When had she ever thought she'd see that day? She and Jareth having anything in common. Still, it felt subdued between them and so the knowledge that he could order sushi expertly because he enjoyed it too was more like something small she cherished in her own heart rather than became openly excited about.

She favored the waiter with a genuinely pleasant smile and ordered. "I'd like unagi nigiri, sake nigiri and a spicy shrimp roll, please. Oh and maybe some of those little shumai?" She was famished and it make her cheeks turn pink to realize how much she'd just ordered as the waiter left them to themselves.

Distractedly she glanced out the window at the view, partially hugging herself out of habit. "So what do you think the rest of this day will hold?" she asked without looking at him.

"Rats... we're talking about rats, of all things, Sarah..." He clearly found this amusing. Of all the conversational subjects that could come up, it would have to be about rodents. But hey, at least they were talking, not flinging accusations at each other. It seemed to him that the unspoken truce was holding.

He waited patiently, without even a trace of surprise or even a reaction to what she ordered, and watched a little shamelessly as she glanced out the window. She wasn't paying much attention to him, as far as he could tell, so it gave him a chance to study her without being watched in return. If some of his feelings showed in his eyes, it wouldn't be as big a deal as if she were watching back.

"Oh, what does any day ever hold?" But there had been no notes ordering him someplace, so he assumed that meant he was free to do what he wished today. "Obviously, I'm to show you around, and after that..." He shrugged, and then glanced up as their food arrived. Apparently, the Planet had thought of everything because it even brought chopsticks, soy sauce, and little trays of bright green wasabi. It all looked wonderful.

It had been awhile since he'd used chopsticks, but it came back to him. Deftly, he prepared some wasabi in the soy sauce, mixing it with the sticks until it was the right consistency. All the whole, he was sort of surrepititiously studying the girl, looking at her profile as she looked out the window. "And you, Sarah? Plans?"

It was actually funny that they were discussing the edibility of rats. That they should discuss anything so distasteful was amusing and she sort of wished they could happen upon a topic that inspired them to get to know more about each other than they already did. Or at least for her to get to know him without having to ask prying questions. He knew a lot about her already so she couldn't imagine he was curious about anything where she was concerned.

She turned to answer him and felt more than saw how he was looking at her. Her lashes flickered downward in a feint, hoping he hadn't seen her see him. How silly! And for heaven's sake why was she always blushing at the worst moments?

The food's arrival made her feel as though she'd been saved and she ignored the soy and wasabi to pick up her chopsticks and begin eating. She nibbled the soft, oily flesh of the eel and watched his preparations with interest. His hands were graceful even while doing something as menial as getting ready to eat sushi.

"Plans? No... um. Well I hadn't really thought through what would happen today. I guess you could say, I'm all yours..."

In reality, he was probably taking slightly more time with the food than he needed to. But it gave his hands something to do, and in his mind, made it less obvious that he was staring at her. He had no idea he'd been found out, though he did wonder why the color rose in her cheeks. For just a second there, he'd almost thought she'd seen... but she didn't seem to have, or at least, he wasn't sure.

"All mine, are you?" He flashed her an amused look, perhaps slightly more longing than was strictly appropriate, and then finally lowered his eyes to his food. It was incredible, as was everything that he'd tried here. The surroundings might be strictly bland, but the food was amazing. "Well, how about that."

Of course, he had no idea what to do. In his own realm, he'd been a king, and had kept busy that way. Here, he was just another of the denizens of this strange place, and he had none of the tasks to do. He had occupied a significant portion of the last couple of days with exploring, but the resort simply wasn't that big. Well, at least he could show her around. That could take days, really. There were worse prospects, than to spend days with this girl.

"I had not made plans either, so it would seem I am all yours, as well." There was a bit of an extra depth to that statement, but he didn't call attention to it.
