🌸

🌸 PROMPTS

ONE | LOCKED OUT
It seems as if someone hasn't been paying their rent to keep staying in their home. As a result, when you go home after a long day, you find that you're locked out. There's a notice on the door of how much you owe in rent. Oops. Maybe you got greedy about what's in your jar, or perhaps there's nothing in your jar at all. What are you going to do now?

TWO | INTO THE MINES
You've gone deeper into the mines than you ever have before - perhaps you were exploring or perhaps you were hoping to mine those little gem clovers. Regardless, now you're facing down some of the monsters that lurk deep beneath the mountain. Are you ready to fight? Or are you ready to run, instead?

THREE | REVERSE YOUR FORTUNE
It's been a rough few days, and your jar reflects it. The dark konpeito doesn't shine the way the colorful konpeito does. It seems to suck in the light, instead, and with it your own mood. You won't be able to keep going on like this... you know you have to do something to get more colorful konpeito back. But how are you going to do that and can you break out of the mood that seems to radiate off your jar?

FOUR | WILDCARD
What's going on with you today?

Chise Hatori | Ancient Magnus' Bride

1.
[She stares at her front door for a long moment, slightly taken aback by the sudden locking out. She's used to being able to come and go as she needs to. She looks down at her jar, full of an equal measure of dark and light konpeito. She used to have more light konpeito, when she first arrived, but without a job she's just been steadily working through it for payment.]

I guess... I am running low. [She considers this for a moment, and considers her options. Maybe she should get a job or at least... something.]

[For now, though, she's looking a little pathetic and lost, just a lone teenager sitting at the front of her dome, leaning against the door and looking up at the sky. She seems lost in thought, not quite at peace but... like this was just another thing that was, in the end, inevitable.]

Even here, I'm...

2.
[Normally she wouldn't find herself down here, but she's doing a favor and -- it seemed like the right thing to do. She knows it's so when she spots one of the underground dragons, flinching away from the light of her lantern.]

Oh--

[Approaching, quietly.] It's alright... I won't hurt you.

[Do you trust her here or are you turning the corner and spotting a girl being terrifyingly close to a dragon. Maybe she needs help?]

[Thanks to a misscalculation on her part (thanks to things she wouldn't think are rude turning out to be rude- humans were so hard to understand sometimes) she's also locked out of her house. While looking for another way in, she runs into Chise who's going through the same problem.]

This is a terrible system.

[Looks up at her, considering this with a soft 'hmmm'...] [...]

Do you think so? I guess it stands to reason that if you don't pay, you'll be kicked out.

One thing is not having enough to pay. This system based on an arbitrary set of rules that meassure our actions as "good" or "bad"? It has even less sense than the colored papers Steven uses back home.

[Well, that much is true... especially for those who aren't human - which, of course, Pearl isn't.]

Is it... so difficult to be able to tell what's good and what's bad? [Rolling her jar absently in her hands so her candies rattle around.]

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]beyourrock
2017-12-27 01:04 am UTC (link)
Perception of good and bad can be different for humans, I assume. Their feelings are more... delicate, and sometimes saying something they do not like is counted as a bad action.

[She's trying to get better though but she still slips.]

[Shakes her head absently.]

If you're only "good" because you think you have to, not because you want to, isn't that... just selfish?

[Maybe she isn't sure. The more she thinks about these things, the more confused she becomes. Not just in regards to Elias, but herself, too.]

[Considers it for a moment... That's a good question, actually.]

Then clearly this place should revaluate their rewards system, because this gives an incentive to be good to get something out of it.

I wondered the same, when I first came here. If you're only "good" in order to receive money... then is that really doing the right thing?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]beyourrock
2017-12-27 01:23 am UTC (link)
That would make good actions turn out to be bad, don't you think? It certainly is complicated.

[info]belovedchild

Maybe it's just another way to say that... sometimes, people -- humans... sometimes we're selfish, even when we pretend we aren't. Even if someone is doing something for someone else, maybe they're only doing it for herself. [Certainly she feels that way about herself. She's... so selfish, in the end.]

[Rattles her jar again, shrugging.] Maybe that's why sometimes this place will take any of the candy as payment.

[There's the sound of Legolas' elvishly light steps approaching, before he speaks softly from the opening of the glade in what's very much a greeting:]

The moon shines with a gentler light, does he not, on nights weighted by thoughts?

["Hi, what's up, can't you sleep?"]

[blink blink...] [Oh. Hi there.]

[Looks up at the moon curiously, frowning thoughtfully up at it.]

It'd be strange if that could be true. Would that mean that a really bright moon is a thoughtless night?

Would most not sleep on a thoughtless night? And so, on such a night the moon might be dark, or he might hide and the sun instead show her face, for all you would know.

[He's joking, of course.]

[ELVES :>~*~*~*~

He laughs lightly, like the old, wise, mysterious and dignfied creature he is.]

What I meant to say - poorly, I see - is that nights like these are well suited for contemplation, are they not? It seemed to me you were in deep thought.

[And naturally he thought to intrude on that, because who doesn't want company when they're stargazing? That, or he suspects she might be locked out, and he wants to check on her.]

[Ah--] [She smiles a little, once she gets it. You're checking on her...?]

Oh. Yeah... I guess I was thinking. Nothing important, though.

Just... it looks like I've been neglecting paying for a place to stay. I'm not used to it.

Not used to paying for lodgings? In that, you are not alone.

[He smiles softly at her in turn. He's probably not as alarmed as most would be upon learning a child doesn't have an indoor place to sleep-- not because he in any way approves of throwing a child out on her own, but because...]

When I first set foot in this land, I confess I felt ill at ease staying between walls.

Really? I guess that isn't surprising. I don't know much about elves, but... [you seem pretty similar to the fae, and they certainly don't have traditional houses.]

Is it easier for you to be outside like this, then?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]sunseeker

To make one's bed in a tree is easier - and quicker! - than to build oneself a house for the night, [he says lightly. Which is to say something like "I don't mind houses per se (especially if the house in question isn't provided by a kidnapping magical world), but I'm completely comfortable sleeping in trees, too".]

But Men, I have learned, seldom share Elves' thoughts on ease and comfort. You are used to having a proper bed always?
