Another mini-event to get you through the weekend...
Oh deary dear. Mother nature should not inspire me. She truly is a fickle bitch.
Raise your hand if you have a character on the eastern seaboard! Come on. I know you do. You can't hide from me! Tsk. Poseidon. What did you do? And just exactly WHO is Irene?
Whilst in the real world Hurricane Irene is taking a chunk out of the Carolinas instead of the projected path up to slam into New Jersey and New York City, your lovely and wonderful PBM has decided that this is not what is happening in our merry little world. To us, and therefore to your characters, Hurricane Irene kicked it up to a CAT 4 just before slamming into the coast of New Jersey and New York City. (She probably had a little help from your friend and mine Corruption.) Evacuation was deemed a recommendation, not mandatory as all projections had it doing what she currently is doing in the real world, but by Friday afternoon she took an abrupt change in direction. It will make landfall in NYC late Friday night/Saturday morning.
People haven't quite reached panic levels yet as of now/Friday evening but forcasters have noticed it picking up force and heading in the direction of NYC. All ways out of the city are jammed. Trains aren't running. Airports are shut down. Buses? Fergettaboutit! Tunnels are clogged. Highways are packed and at a stand still. (I've seen this happen!) The mayor is telling people that if they can't get to high ground then get into a high rise. He is telling business buildings to remain unlocked to provide shelter on the upper floors. The Red Cross, Coast Guard, city police and fire departments are clearing the streets as much as possible, but a lot of focus is being put into the subway systems to clean it out of homeless.
What to expect? Looting. Muggings. Killings. Arson. Zombies. Just kidding. No arson. HAHAHA! Really, no zombies. Damn it! Cell phone use will cease. Power outages will be city wide. A lot of buildings have generators so that's good. Flooding in the streets. And one more thing. Oddly enough, godlings active in game do not lose access to the godling net. You can post from a computer, laptop, Blackberry, smart phone, etc.
Somewhere around 4AM Saturday morning reports will be filtering around the systems that a young woman with flame red hair is seen standing on the docks by the Hudson with her arms outstretched and shouting into the storm.
Questions? Hate mail? Bribes?
mwahahaha
