The other side of the bed wasn't exactly cold when she woke up but it was noticeably empty. Natasha frowned as she rolled over to stare at it but the oddly upset or disappointed feeling that came with the idea that her partner for the night had managed to ditch her disappeared once she heard the sound of a shower running.

She slipped out of bed, grabbing a robe to cover herself, as she walked from her bedroom to the bathroom. "I thought you managed to slip out without waking me." She said as she stepped into the bathroom. She wasn't as surprised as she was making it seem. Given his former line of work he'd probably be one of the few to sneak past her.

Slipping off the robe, she pulled back the shower curtain and stepped inside. "Hope you don't mind if I do a little water conservation."

The bed had been just too comfortable and soft for his liking, which was why he gave up on trying to sleep. Showering had seemed like a smart idea, a good second best. It gave him some time to mull things over, too.

Her voice broke through just as Steve was debating the oddities of the relationship he held with Natasha. "That'd be rude. I would never." He hope he never did that anyways.

When she stepped in to join him, Steve stepped back to make room and allow her access to he water's spray. "I hear global warming is bad. We all gotta do our part." The words felt oddly familiar to say and it had Steve pulling a face, cringing outwardly.

"Some men do." She said, shrugging at the words as if she'd never been disappointed to wake up in bed alone. Just because her line of work had taught her the importance of distance didn't mean no one had ever gotten close. No person was an island. Steve didn't seem like the type who would sneak out (or attempt to) the next morning but this was a different Steve.

This Steve's story was closer to the Bucky Barnes of her world. Which, in turn, made it a little easier for her to understand him and where he was now. "I was just impressed or, maybe, disappointed with myself that you hadn't managed to wake me sooner."

Moving past him she shot him an amused look as he backed away. Considering the night before, there was no need for either of them to be shy. She still stepped into the spray of the water and tried not to laugh as he said something that reminded her too much of her world's Steve. "And the water bills are ridiculous so come closer. I'm not going to bite." The corners of her mouth lifted up into a smirk but she passed on turning her words into something more suggestive.
