Good Ending/Bad Ending meme
Do you get a happily ever after? Or a 'Rocks fall, everyone dies'? Why not both?

* Post your characters and set up two scenes. One with an ideal setting (They got what they always wanted, hit it big, became rich and famous, etc.) and one with a bad twist of events (They're homeless, everyone hates them, maybe they're even dying!).
* Others respond to one of the two settings (Or both in different comments, if they want!)
* Respond.
* ???
* Profit!!!

Just remember: no ending is set in stone, good endings can turn sour, and bad endings can be made better. Just see where it takes you and enjoy the ride!

"And if I decide that it doesn't matter. What then, Erik? What will you do then?" More like 'What will you do to me then' but he doesn't say that. He could be on both sides if he wanted to be. That was his decision.

"I believe I already said you were dismissed." Which was answer enough, especially in that tone.

"You'd throw me away just like that after everything we've been through?" It's quiet and he's ignoring that tone.

His jaw was tight, "You're the one who said I didn't matter, Charles, not me."

"I said you didn't matter to THEM," he grounds out. "I never said you didn't matter to ME, Erik. There is a damn difference!" It's snapped even when he wasn't meaning it to be.

He regarded the telepath coolly, "Perhaps you should say what you mean, Charles."

"I've said what I mean. You just keep throwing it at me and taking it the wrong way," he grounds out. "You have always mattered to me, Erik. But what we're doing here doesn't mean a damn thing to me and never will."

"Then that's what you should have said in the first place, instead of making sweeping generalizations that I could take the wrong way." His tone hadn't warmed much, if at all, but he'd started lowering the mental walls he'd just put up anyway.

"I didn't say anything that you could take the wrong way. You just decided to take it the wrong way when you shouldn't of," he says shaking his head before moving back to the window staring out it. "You've been doing that a lot lately."

"Have you always been this critical?" It was an honest question, if a little sharp, "And I've just never noticed it before?"

Charles, needless to say, ignores the question. He can't believe that Erik just asked him something like that. Has he always been this critical... what the hell... So he's just going to keep to the window. Until Erik forces him not to anyway. Or something else happens.

Erik just shook his head, finishing off his drink and setting the glass on the edge of his new desk, "What's the next step?"

He sighed at that, shaking his head, arms folded, leaning back against the desk, he quite liked the desk, as well as the view, it was why he'd chosen the office and the building he'd chosen, "Just because I'm spearheading this operation doesn't mean I won't listen to suggestions."

That gets an almost pained laugh out of Charles. "Are you really trying to say that you listen to suggestions, Erik? You don't listen to them much less from me. My views go against yours therefore you ignore my suggestions. So why don't you tell me since you've been the one running this stupid show."

"You knew what the plan was from the beginning, Charles." His tone had dipped again, "If you didn't agree, even in part, why did you come along in the first place?" He'd made it a point never to question the motives of anyone joining the Brotherhood, and he'd held to that even with Charles, but now seemed as good a time as any to ask.

"I knew what you were planning, yes," he says still staring out the window. "How can you even ask that, Erik? You know why I came." Because of him. He wasn't about ready to lose the one man that had been the constant in his life. Even through all of this stupidity. "I wasn't going to lose you."

"So you stand at my side this whole time, and now that we're more or less secure, you're doing your best to push me away. Interesting strategy." He replied, studying the telepath intently, really just trying to figure out what his angle in all this was.

"Not you, Erik. Never you. The situation, yes, but never you." If he was trying to push anything away it was the situation that they were in not the metal bender. The other man just tended to stand in the way of the situation.

"No, Erik, it isn't the same thing. This mission isn't even a mission. It's nothing. Just because I push the stupidity of it away doesn't mean I'm pushing you away too. If anything if I am pushing you away it's because you're allowing it."

He scoffed, shaking his head, "Stupidity. Making the world a safer place for our kind is 'stupidity' now, is it?" He shook his head, "Maybe you should just go, if you're that against it."

"We're not making the world a safer place, Erik," he snaps. "So yes it is stupidity at the moment. Because we're not helping other mutants. We're killing them. So I'm not going anywhere. Neither of us are. But I won't let this continue either."

"We don't kill our own kind, Charles." That was the Brotherhood's strictest rule, "So I'd like to know where you get the idea that we are."

"I'd like to know where you get the idea that we aren't. Everything we do to the humans puts our kind in more danger than before." It's simple and to the point because it was true. Everything they did to the humans put their kind in so much danger. Erik was just too blind to see it.
