[Hikaru is missing Kaoru like crazy. That's not unusual since his brother is his entire life, and it feels like he hasn't seen him in a very long time. Not having him here always felt terrible, despite making friends and always meeting new people.

Will you help me with a personal survey? It's just some things I've been thinking about.

Some of you may remember Kaoru, my brother, when he was here for some time. We're used to people assuming they know what being twins is like, but most of the time, they're wrong. So here's where the survey part comes in:

What do you think twins are? More specifically, identical twins.
What kinds of things do you think when you see twins?
Do you ever assume they are the same, just because they have the same face? Be honest.

I want to know what you think. People really can't be as clueless and as dumb as they have been in my life. I hope you prove me wrong.

Twins are... brothers or sisters who were born at the same time, who share the same genes. They're really close to each other, but not the same person.

I've seen little twins wearing the same outfits before, and I thought it was cute; some designers have used twins as models and the symmetry is really good-looking, aesthetically speaking. I also think of those cute little twin star characters.

[ A heavy pause... That last question seems like a trick. ]
But I haven't met very many twins - only you. I don't know what you mean by "the same" - they're obviously not the same person. I would assume they like a lot of the same things and have similar tastes, but I wouldn't assume they shared the same views on everything. I guess I'd just assume they're like normal brothers and sisters, but closer and- different.

	Mom did that with us -- put us in the same outfits and we played her models. She put us in dresses, too. [That put a smile on his face. Memories are a wonderful thing.] You'd be surprised. 	That depends on who you consider to be twins in the first place. [Technically, he had a twin. But, that was only because they shared the same DNA sequence. Twins are offspring that are produced in the same pregnancy, and identical twins are from the same egg. Though simply because of that doesn't mean they're the same because they're two different people. I'll admit that I think they're going to be very much so alike, but they're still two different people therefore they are going to have two separate personalities. I wouldn't ever think they were the same simply because they look alike.

[She's never met a set of twins, but that's her opinion on it, especially from books she has read and information she's read up on them.]

If they don't know what twins are, then just summarizing was probably the way to go. They probably didn't know other things as well, so making it easier to understand would be best.]

Most of the time, when a woman is having a baby, she has one baby. But every once in a while, there will be two instead of one. Two babies are twins.

Twins, in the end, are still siblings. I don't know what it would be like to have a twin. But I imagine I wouldn't love them more or less than... than having a sibling of another age.

But sharing a similar face - or even the same face - that... I don't think it matters, much. No two people are ever alike. That's what I think, anyway.

I guess the more proper question is to ask twins if they have any other siblings and what the difference is between their twin and their other siblings. (Reply to this)
