[Action]
[It's been a long few days. Otoha needed to work out his arm. He could tell that it was a little weaker, the muscles not pulling quite right around the wound. He still needed to stay in shape… that's why he was here in the dojo.]

[Even with the wooden sword he was using for practice, the dummies he was attacking were still getting pretty battered. One of them had their head knocked off already.]

[Later]

[All that training had left him hungry. He can now be found in the shelter cafeteria, eating some chicken teriyaki.]

[He's sitting by himself, so he's easily botherable if you feel like it.]

[That's... actually a good question.]

They gain a lot of power. There's a chance that the city will help heal their physical body - it did for me, at least. And they also help to stop the sorrow and suffering in the hearts of those in the city - and a true Karas needs to understand those feelings to be effective.

It's also a second chance. If you did wrong in your life, you have the power now to fix things or to prevent those things from happening to others.

[The exact thing she was willing to become a guardian for. But can this revived existence he speaks of that does not allow one to "redo" things, but only make amends after the fact really be called another chance? Failures-- her failure-- can't be corrected by such an incomplete method]

[Quiet] ...That is incorrect. If you cannot redo an event-- if you cannot save those who were lost, it is not another chance but a continued experience you may use to save others.

As I thought, this arrangement is certainly similar to one with the world, albeit on a smaller scale. Thus... it is naturally a lesser gain as well.

A lesser gain? Maybe. Thining on the past isn't really something I like to do. My old life had me killing indiscriminately. A lot of those I killed were what most people would call 'evil', though I don't doubt they'd call me the same thing. I don't regret what I did, only the fact that I didn't think of what would be for the greater good.

[He pauses for a second.]

... Not that I was supposed to, but I don't have to listen to him anymore.
