A Ghostly Event Appears!
With so many hacker geniuses around, it was only a matter of time before someone stuck their sticky fingers where they don't belong. Naughty naughty inmates… of course, every transgression comes with a suitable punishment and this time it's a little more widespread than usual.

You see, hacking into the database is not a walk in the park. Not only is the programming completely alien, it's also riddled with failsafes and booby-traps — just in case someone is careless enough to go traipsing where they don't belong. This time, the transgression results in a dome-wide blackout at the end of Day 190 (Friday). Seeing as MarinaNova is located at the bottom of the sea, this means complete, absolute, pitch-black darkness. No streetlights, no emergency lights, no nothing. Hopefully you've got some candles or flashlights around.

The hacking also causes the weather system to glitch out, resulting in a heavy downpour and a thunderstorm that lasts throughout the night. Come morning, the rain continues steadily but that's not the only thing that remains from the glitch…

The only question is: who're you gonna call?

Starting on the morning of DAY 191, inmates may start to notice that something strange is going on. Although the power is back on the Kiosk remains unavailable and most importantly, the dome is haunted. That's right. Haunted. This will be noticeable in a few different ways:

• I SEE DEAD PEOPLE — phantasms, specters and mirages of Marina past are walking the dome. This includes both characters that have been in the game previously but are no longer, and those that were never here in the first place. Other characters will not be able to talk or otherwise interact with them and the ghosts will range from barely visible to deceptively real. They're also unable to interact with solid objects and will look like they're doing every-day things, sometimes glitching in and out of focus.

• MISTER CELLOPHANE — Some people may find themselves intangible and rather see-through — or completely invisible! Just like ghosts! They won't be able to physically interact with solid objects or other characters, but the communicator will still work like normal assuming they had it on them when the glitch happened! The ghost state does not need to last all day and can disappear on its own, should you want to.

• THE EXORCIST — A good old-fashioned possession. Suddenly, your character's body is inhabited by a different personality. This can be anyone you would normally be able to app, as well as other characters already in the game (with permission!) The possession does not need to last all day and can either be broken by someone else, or disappear on its own.

What if my character knows how to perform an exorcism/can't be possessed?

Since this is caused by a dimensional stabilizer glitch, these ghosts aren't your typical ectoplasmic spirits and as such they exploit every loophole there is when it comes to traditional exorcism. This means that your character is still free to be possessed/turned into a ghost for the day, even if they're normally immune! If you want to help someone snap out of it you're of course free to, but normal means of doing so wouldn't really work. Get creative!

What if I don't want to participate?

That's cool too! The ghosts aren't everywhere and you could easily say that your characters got lucky and missed out if you don't want them involved.

Other questions? Ask them here

All ic punishments, both new and old will be postponed to the next dayweek. If your character was in the middle of fulfilling a punishment when the blackout hit they will not be forced to continue, but depending on the punishment any progress they made may be lost.

The bots themselves will be quiet during the event. They'll still be around and the protective shields are still functional, but for the most part they'll be dormant.

Continuing this question... which punishments would lose progress? Like, Tieria's serving community service time in the pet cafe for getting hurt during the 4th Wall. He had 60 hours, so I was doing ten days of six hour shifts for him.

Any hours he logged are still logged unless he tried doing some during the blackout itself. It doesn't mean he has to start from the beginning. He'd just have to redo that specific time. Really, it's very much at your discretion.

LOL, considering he's going to be possessed by Regene, I doubt any work will be done by him that day, so it's all good. Thanks!
