The pay off was fine. [The money would've been nice but in the end, knowing she had a chance? Well.]

Ride was shit, though. Could've gone better.

Ya don't say, [Remy drew that last word out, giving an amused look in James' direction.] Ya just the king of understatements, ain't ya?

[Before a pause, taking a moment to gauge the other man up and consider if it was even worth asking the next question, or if it would just get thrown back in his face.] Ya a little more than just a limo driver, ain't ya?

Lived a long life. Did a lot of other things too. [A lot of other things.]

A few you might have in common with me, Gambit.

[...Remy didn't like that tone, or the use of his codename, it just implied more than that statement said.] I donno, can't say 've driven too many limos, tend more to be in the back of them. [Yep, doesn't appreciate that at all, just going to joke it away.

...although, it does nothing to help his curiosity.]
Not a name 've really thrown 'round here. [Even if the photos that had shown up did show him in uniform and with his previous 'team'.]

Is that so? Could'a sworn I'd picked it up somewhere.

[He snorts, well aware of timelines and universes but all the same - he knows that smug face of yours in one rendition or another.] Or maybe the family photo of X-Men gave it away.

[There was a long, leveled gaze that stayed steady on James, as if Remy was trying to peel away a layer or two and see what else was hiding under that gruff exterior of the man.] Was a bit of a surprise to find that m'self. [He admitted.]

Goin' to 'ssume ya well aware of mutants then, [Dancing around the bush still? Ok, maybe a little. Remy could be more direct, a lot more direct, but whether it was just the fun in playing the game, not expecting to get any real answers, or maybe not wanting them, he kept up the more distant questions.] Considerin' ya know that team.

Yeah, I'm a little aware of 'em. [What they were, who they were. How they all died - how he, by some sick twist of fate, was the last of the X-Men.

How Laura and her friends, the next generation, are facing a shitshow world that no longer cares for them. Yeah, he's far too aware of mutants and what it was like to live as one for far too fucking long.

His fingers flex, knuckles taut before his claws slowly extend a few inches as he holds them up. Hurts like a bitch, though, and he looks at them with disdain before retracting them.]
Know me now, bub?

[Normally Remy was very well practiced in keeping a mask up, hiding his real emotions away behind a pleasant hint of a smile, much like his joker cards he liked so much. Yet this time, he didn't bother with it, an array of feelings appearing and vanishing as quickly as they showed, confusion, shock, caution, curiosity, amusement, before it he reined them in.

Wolverine. Logan. Wow, just... wow. Focusing on him now Remy could pick out some similar characteristics and features, how the man talked and acted. It really explained a lot. Though the real question was how to deal with this all. He may had been forced to work with Wolverine in the past, but they were hardly 'friendly' with each other. Hell, he was the man's 'enemy' while Remy had been on Magneto's team, and he didn't doubt for a second the man would try and tear his throat out, especially after his kidnapping of Rogue. But this Wolverine, he seemed like a pretty decent guy... and clearly knew Remy to some extent, though that photo of his future did clear that up a little. Seriously... X-Men, what a joke.

In the end, Remy went with what he did best; being an ass.]
So ya name is James?

Yeah, it is. [In a 'got a problem with it?' tone, complete with brow quirk.

He could go by Logan here, like he did before, but he prefers the anonymity. He'd rather it last as long as it can.]
That's what you get to call me.

[Holding his hands up in a 'I give' fashion, Remy let them drop again after a long moment, showing he meant no harm.] Works for me, mon ami, works for me. Ya ain't quite like the Wolverine I know 'nyways, so this works out well.

'nd 'm guessin' Remy still works, 'less ya angry then I 'ssume 'Gambit' goin' to be comin' up more often.

Remy still works. [He's curious what you mean about him not being the Wolverine you knew, but at the same time - he's far from the man he used to be.

He's washed up, at this age. So he doesn't press it.]
So how do you know them? The X-Men.

Ahhh, [Remy took a moment to consider how to answer that, if it really was a risk to tell the truth considering he knew those claws were now within arm reach of him. He thinks he would be quick enough to get away, but it was still preferable to not anger Wolverine.

Then again, what was the fun of life without risk?]
Normally from across the battlefield, not that we really had a lot of run ins with them, only once or twice. Merde, ended up workin' together on a few things even, the whole enemy of m' enemy kinda thing.

[Despite a steely looking face and the way Logan looks Remy over, he's actually not surprised at all because:] Sounds like you.

But you're a smart kid. You'll keep your nose clean around these parts, I'm sure.
