Hello, people of Marina. I hope this finds you well, assuming this is a recording and not a live communication channel. I guess I'll find out in a second or two if anyone is watching.

[He's defaulting to a slightly more professional way of composing his speech, trying to be as clear as possible as he would in any board meaning or in front of his students back in the 50s. Just going for efficiency. Plus it helps mask his panic.]

I'm Ray. Ray Palmer. And I'm looking for my friends. Sara, Nate, Mick, Amaya, Martin and Jackson. Has anyone seen them? Heard those names? I mean of course I am leaving out specific details such as appearance, surnames, distinguishing characteristics, I'm assuming if they're here they'd receive this message and find me.

Otherwise I think I'm going to need more information about this place. Hopefully I can assist with an escape plan? There's one of those, right?

[His lips turn up into a genuine smile, but it fades almost immediately, seeming crestfallen. He turns the feed off with that.]

Ray stays in Sector one for a while, processing everything that had happened. He'd been here almost immediately after he and the Legends crash landed in L.A. due to a time storm. Sure enough that was listed as one of his crimes. Others remarked on his using underhanded tactics to acquire Queen Consolidated, and his being regarded as a criminal by the Time Masters. Even the time he nearly blew up the chem lab in his undergrad, it was all stacked against him as supposed crimes. Alien law, he supposed, was maybe a little less nuanced than even the flawed justice system of western society. At east there you were innocent until proven guilty.

Here he didn't even get a trial.

He moved on to sector two, finding a clothing store and opting to change before continuing on to explore the city.

[He actually recoils once he sees Jack on the other line. There's momentary shock, because that's the face of Malcolm Merlyn, he's pretty sure.]

I don't mean to alarm you but I'm actually doubting you are who you say you are considering how you look like one of the most dangerous men I've ever met.

[Also he definitely recognizes that name. It must be a coincidence because the very fictional character he knows looks nothing like Malcolm.]

[Well, that's a response he doesn't get every day, and it definitely piques his interest, especially because, both as a time-traveller and immortal who doesn't age that much, there's even the possibility that the man Ray's talking about could even be himself in the future.

He tilts his head, looking interested rather than shocked.]

	Malcolm Merlyn. It's either that or you are a remarkable likeness which means a doppleganger is actually more likely. It's bound to happen. Earlier this year I met someone who looks a lot like my cousin, yet was an alien from another planet.

What's also fascinating is that they're completely human in every way except for the fact that they have super powers.

But that's a relief. I don't think I've seen Malcolm smile even once since I met him. Well, not in a non sinister grin sort of way.

Yeah, I've seen things like that here. [He gives a bit of a wry grin.] I'm currently dating someone who looks a hell of a lot like my ex, despite having been born several centuries earlier and having no offspring, and being a vampire too!

And I do my best not to smile sinister grins, so your Malcolm probably isn't me, even in my future. Which... I'm immortal, and I also occasionally time-travel. There's literally a possibility that I could turn up anywhere, anywhen!

Not off hand. [He didn't quite fall into the grasp of Joss Whedon's magnum opus given he was just climbing free from the shackles of high school to the call of early college. His vampire fiction references were sorely lacking other than the fact he was aware of both Interview with a Vampire and how notably bad Twilight was supposedly.]

That I will have to do. And yeah, me and my team are basically tasked with protecting the timeline. I can't say much to that, as far as the vampire to time traveler ratio.
