[He didn't think that breaking time was in the penal code, but then considering what the Dominator's had come to earth for he's not exactly surprised to find himself here. The more pressing question was the absence of the rest of the legends. If he was going to make contact with the other inmates, he might as well get that out of the way.]

Hello, people of Marina. I hope this finds you well, assuming this is a recording and not a live communication channel. I guess I'll find out in a second or two if anyone is watching.

[He's defaulting to a slightly more professional way of composing his speech, trying to be as clear as possible as he would in any board meaning or in front of his students back in the 50s. Just going for efficiency. Plus it helps mask his panic.]

I'm Ray. Ray Palmer. And I'm looking for my friends. Sara, Nate, Mick, Amaya, Martin and Jackson. Has anyone seen them? Heard those names? I mean of course I am leaving out specific details such as appearance, surnames, distinguishing characteristics, I'm assuming if they're here they'd receive this message and find me.

Otherwise I think I'm going to need more information about this place. Hopefully I can assist with an escape plan? There's one of those, right?

[His lips turn up into a genuine smile, but it fades almost immediately, seeming crestfallen. He turns the feed off with that.]

[Action]

Ray stays in Sector one for a while, processing everything that had happened. He'd been here almost immediately after he and the Legends crash landed in L.A. due to a time storm. Sure enough that was listed as one of his crimes. Others remarked on his using underhanded tactics to acquire Queen Consolidated, and his being regarded as a criminal by the Time Masters. Even the time he nearly blew up the chem lab in his undergrad, it was all stacked against him as supposed crimes. Alien law, he supposed, was maybe a little less nuanced than even the flawed justice system of western society. At east there you were innocent until proven guilty.

Here he didn't even get a trial.

He moved on to sector two, finding a clothing store and opting to change before continuing on to explore the city.

	I'll be there as soon as I can. Which is soon. It's not like I'm busy. [Or preoccupied woth thoughts or worries or anything. He signs off amd heads over. Once he sees her he jogs to close the distance. But yeah hes feeling sort of extra awkward.] It probably doesn't help to know that I've been time travelling for a little over a year and a half. [Before they even started talking she managed to find something suitable to wear. A nice dress and a good steady pair of high heels that were lovingly accentuated by her monitor. While waiting she's already started twisting a piece of paper into a tiny twirl of anxiety. 2017. That's three years of difference between what she knows and he knows; and by the sound of it a lot has happened. A lot always happens. Usually someone tries to destroy Starling City at least once a year, so that's three years of attempts.

Not to mention Ray not being her boss anymore. Did she quit? Did he fire her? Both scenarios seem unlikely since he was talking to her on friendly terms. Besides, Ray didn't exactly seem like the bridge burning get lost type. He was more like Barry then Oliver. More forgiving and kind. More understanding and empathetic. No, he definitely hadn't fired her. Actually she wasn't really sure Ray could fire anyone ... Not if he could help it at least.

By the time Ray arrived at the bench the piece of paper in her hand was more like a tiny ball of rips and twists. Too tiny to really be useful anymore; something she could actually relate to after the sudden realization that Ray dumped on her. She'd just really started to get to know him; to maybe like him even and now he was three years ahead of him. Maybe they'd had some sort of friendship that she didn't know about. Maybe she'd done something or Oliver had done something that had hurt him and he was hiding it. She wouldn't know.

As soon as he starts talking she looks up startled. No, she hadn't noticed him coming toward her at all. Her teeth press firmer into her lower lip as she listens. Ok, time traveling. That ... That explains nothing actually. Just really confuses her more. At least it's a start though.]

That ... Seems fun.

[She's not really sure what else to say to that. It's something at least and she appreciates him telling her.]

I, um, just saw you.

[Hello again little ball of paper. She's absently twisting it as she keeps her eyes on Ray.]

Cyber attack on Starling City ... sorta my fault.

[She doesn't sound proud about it. In fact just mentioning it brings back memories that, while they remind her how strong and amazing her mother really is, aren't ones she'd want to be bouncing around in her head right now. Especially when they're part of why she's here in this prison.]

I remember. Also it occura to me now that you probably stopped that. [Oh. Uh. She doesnt even know he knows, because back then he didn't know. Which again falls firmly in the category of difficult to talk about. He sits down woth her and thinks about what needs to be said.]

I think its probably in our best interest for us not to go into detail regarding the three year difference between us. I mean there's alot to say and no telling what could effect the time line if we were to escape and get home.

Which would be extra awkward incase we both end up in your time.

But I should tell you, I know about Oliver. About...really everyone. Barry is the Flash, Oliver is the Green Arrow...or just the Arrow.

We're all good friends. Actually you have an advantage over me. You can tell me any thing and I can barely tell you what I had for brrakfast yesterday.

Oh.

[There's more twisting of the little ball of paper. So ... He knows about her nighttime activities. It's actually oddly relieving, having him know all about it. It wasn't that she owed him anything or even that she felt any sort of obligation to him to tell the truth. It was just that with how familiar he was being it felt wrong to keep that kind of secret from him. Besides, now she could talk freely about her mad hacking skills and how she could use them to maybe get them out of here ... With enough time.

The fact that they were all apparently friends was also reassuring. Knowing that things apparently worked out between everyone was, well, it was good.

She turns her body to look at him. Still frowning even though most of what he's told her so far is good news.]

Except you know me and I don't know you. I mean I know you, but I don't know you the way you do me. I'm just starting to get to know you. That's a serious advantage in your favor.

Right, so ... The only thing between us is the ton of secrets that you're keeping. Which, by the way I'm totally going to pry out of you, And the fact that we're stuck in a literal form of The Matrix while our bodies potentially float around in non-healing bacta tanks.

[She frowns, taking a moment to think about it.]

Pretty much. And maybe my resolve will fail and I'll end up telling you anyway. But I'm standing firm on the whole time travel rule right now.

[Her references make him smile a bit, because he appreciates both of them.] I can think of a dozen different B-movie and science fiction alternatives that could be worse.

By the way, do you know Dr Who? Of course you know Dr. Who. I'm just asking because I just met Captain Jack Harkness.

And actually I should warn you. He looks like Malcolm Merlyn.

[She looks at him like he should already know she's a huge fan of Doctor Who. She's pretty sure that if they're any sort of friends he has to know that she is a huge fan of the show.]

First, I could almost kiss you for knowing that show and second, that's creepy.

	All 35 seasons. Pretty easy to get television on a ship from the future. [She can't help smiling and looking down at his stiffled laugh. Ray has a good smile. It's kind of infectious. She wouldn't really have expected that from him. Not the smiling but how infectious it was.

She tilts her head to the side to look at him, smirk still on her face.]

You're at least going to spoil that for me right?

[To be fair she now has a goal. Get freaking Doctor Who episodes in this place. It might be a crazy virtual prison but they couldn't be savages and deprive her of her shows. At least they couldn't if they knew what was good for them.]

That would be easy. It's been way too long since I could actually just geek out about something. You don't exactly get to go to comic con when you're the CEO of a multi billion dollar tech firm. Also equally depressing was not having any peers to play Settlers of Catan with

Then again I've been busier than I was as a CEO lately so that would be why.

[And yet he still can't get anyone to pay Catan with on the ship except for Nate.]

To be fair you get to go to CeBIT, which is arguably better then Comic Con.

[Seriously, Felicity would give her right arm to be able to walk around among all that tech. It would be like a kid in a candy store, only worse because you didn't eat tech - unless it was edible tech. Ohh! Tech you could eat to enhance your own abilities. That would be seriously cool.]

And I don't think I've played Settlers since I started working with Oliver. I mean Roy, toooootally would be into it. Oliver, I see him more of a RISK man. Laural on the other hand, totally Pathfinder. Dude, if I ever get back I should make everyone play Pathfinder.

[There's a pause as she turns her whole body at Ray and points.]

Did you know Oliver actually knows who Voldamort is?

[This is geeking Ray Palmer. This is Felicity geekifying her friends and knowing it'll never work. But it totally work out ... in her head.]

Oh don't even get me started about CeBIT. The last time I've gone I got the idea for the nano tech--- which spoilers actually saved my life once. Actually you did, with it. Actually that hasn't happened yet. Crap.

[He then paused at the mention of Roy and his expression faded from awkward faux pas to rather morose. He wasn't sure on how to address matters of Roy.]

Oliver liking Harry Potter isn't a surprise since he's a kid of the nineties. That actually begs the question of the other pop culture secrets he's hiding. And if I ever see him again I'm probably going to ask about it. Incidentally I feel like I need to know what his favorite pokemon is.

[Dude everyone played Pokemon, and Ray took the cartridge and reprogrammed the entire game.]

Well... Barry isn't the only one who likes nerdy things. But then I guess he's your age so the cultural awareness is basically equal. But I think the crown of pop culture king goes to Cisco.

[See, Felicity? They can talk about all their friends. Also please ignore his breaking face at the sound of a name.]

Much, probably, to Ray's chagrin she does notice that face and it worries her. Everything else sort of doesn't matter when that face comes into play. She bites her bottom lip tight with worry, eyes searching his face.]

I think we discussed the fact that I can't divulge that sort of information. [He pauses, because now there's a little pain there. He wants to tell her everything. He would too.]

Maybe I need to figure out how to do this. I mean I haven't actually been in a situation where that sort of information needed to be kept secret.

[With a few exceptions. It wasn't like this with Amaya. Why isn't this as easy? It's probably because it's Felicity.]

Listen. You trust me enough to know I wouldn't hold anything back from you maliciously, right? Well. Even if you don't, that's the fact of the matter.

I can't tell you what happened in Star City. Everything we do here is probably going to change things anyway. [Have you ever seen Ray so serious?]

[Yeah, this is ... difficult. She can almost feel a wall go up between them and it doesn't feel right at all. Her eyes cast downward as she listens to his explanation.

Honestly, she doesn't trust him. Not yet at least. From the way he talks to her and what he's saying now it seems like somewhere in the years between them he becomes someone she cares for deeply - she just doesn't know how deep that goes or any of the math in between and it suddenly makes all of this so much harder then it was a few minutes ago.

And there's that paper again, twisting and turning in her hands where it was just a stagnant ball moments before.]

I don't ... know you Ray.

[She frowns even more as the words come out. They don't seem right, but they're true. She doesn't know him and no amount of talking about geeky stuff is going to change that. Sure, now she knows he likes Settlers and Pathfinder and basically everyone in her life; but that doesn't mean she knows him. She just knows stuff about him.]

I've already got enough people in my life deciding things for me. I don't want you to be one of them.

[Twisting, twisting before she finally looks at him.]

And if we're gonna be friends; real friends. There can't be secrets. I know from experience that they only make things worse ...

[She looks away, staring at the simulated tree a few feet away.]

And hurt people.

[The last words are quiet. Almost like she isn't even aware she's saying them. In the past three years she's learned a lot from Oliver and Diggle; the most important thing is that there's no real trust with secrets involved.]

[That is a little... Ow. He's twisted up inside, at least that's how it feels. He turns his eyes down because from his perspective they are friends. Maybe more than just friends but just short of being together. And after the Dominators his feelings for her were... Conflicted. So conflicted.]

I'm not actually deciding anything. I mean, aside from asking for leniency, time and patience. I just arrived, just found out about you being here. It's not easy.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you.

[A pause, frowning a bit.]

I don't know how to tell you about what happens and even if, when I tell you I'd like to do it in a way that won't hurt as badly.

[Maybe if he gives her an allowance of some kind. A place to start.]

Maybe that's where we need to start. Getting to know each other. For now, I'll tell you anything you want to know about the time travel. Fair?

[Her eyes flick over his face. Searching for more without trying to search for it. After everything that they've been through there's only one reason Roy would have for leaving. It's either Thea or Oliver. With the way things have been going; probably Oliver.]

Yeah, I, I think I get it.

[She offers a small, weak smile to him for telling her. Sure it's not the worst news in the world, but it's not the best either. It's just, news. Roy had to leave Starling City and wasn't going to be back. It sounded like he'd had to cut ties with everyone to do it too. That, sucked. Especially with everything he'd been through. If he were here now she would be hugging him.]

And you, know this, because you were there?

And for being honest.

[There's a small, hollow laugh that isn't really a laugh. It's an expression of exasperation really.]

I'm sure you know there's a lot of ... The opposite of that in my life right now. The last person was Barry, then he got struck by lightning and was in a coma and then 'Bam' superspeed and ... yeah.

[She pushes her hair back, that sad smile coming back over her face. The truth is that she's a lot more upset about Roy then she's trying to lead on. She's just ... not hiding it well enough.]
