I think we could all use a distraction.

[Or maybe that's just her thinking about how it's been awhile since the wardens have launched something at them. The kites barely seem to count. Is something big coming? are they just counting down the days until 400? Another anniversary festival or something...worth waiting for? In probably all the wrong ways.]

So, let's play a game. It's called I Never. It's usually a drinking game, but I'll leave the type of beverage up to you. All ages. [As if anyone stops the kids from drinking booze here anyway.]

I'll say "I never went to prison." If you have gone to prison—and spoiler alert, you have—then you drink. If you're not using video then figure something else out or stop being so difficult. The objective is to find things out about each other while not getting too drunk or hydrated yourself, so normally you'd pick a true statement for yourself so you don't have to drink. But that's really up to you. [She might drink a lot just because she's done a lot of things.]

I'll start us off, I never shoplifted...from a store that hadn't already been abandoned.

(OOC: It's not a mingle, but you can feel free to threadjack others!)

[Not long after the video goes up there's a knock at his door. On the other side is Kitty, looking a more put together than usual and carrying a couple of bags. One has liquor. The other has food. What do?]

It really only applies to one. I didn't even particularly like Jack when we started sleeping together.

[Oh that gets a drink alright.] I never think first dates are the worse, or wish I could skip right over them and just get the the good part.

[For her it could be Reid and maybe Jack? Maybe Pavel. She's not sure. She doesn't always sit around ranking friends. Just kissing them.]

I don't know if it's a date. Or if it's the first. I think I usually skip them for the good part and I wonder if that's why things end up falling apart. Maybe just luck?

And that was a game question not a discussion point, wasn't it? [Okay, she's not sure if she needs to drink or not, but it's water so she does.]

I never make out with a friend's boyfriend when my inhibitions are down in other prisons. [Drink. Glance.]

Or maybe it's not going to fall apart and you're just convincing yourself it will? [God knows he's guilty of skipping over first dates, with Jack and Spike.]

Sort of a discussion question and a game question all in one. [They'd be having the same conversation without the game anyway. It just makes things more entertaining.

He makes a sound of dry amusement and drinks just to be safe.] I'm not really sure. I think I need a boyfriend and cheating flowchart for myself at this point. I never did it because I thought it would lead to a real relationship or anything more than just sex, how about that?

Maybe just preparing for the worst.

I don't think I was thinking past the moment in any direction. [That feels more honest than drinking or not.] I never did anything with the intent to hurt a fried...or even Spike. [Still no drinking.]

[He's not sure if he should drink to any of that or not. God knows he hurt people back home, Jack included. Sometimes it was deliberate. And maybe hurting Spike wasn't the goal with restoring his soul but they knew what they were doing. They knew there would be consequences. He gives up on his coffee. There's too much moral ambiguity in his life for this game, particularly when it comes to relationships.]

So why are you so nervous about this thing with Chekov? It's not something you're doing to hurt anyone and you care about him, you've said it before. Why just assume this will be a bad thing or that it's destined to end badly?

Just...things Reid has said I guess. Things about me moving too fast and I don't know. [She's in her head about it and Reid did say some things. Some in anger, probably meant to sting, and some less so. But there's also what he said and how she's remembering it, applying her own fears and insecurities to what ammunition he provided.]

And because...everything has always ended badly.

It's hard not to move fast here, I think. You never know what's going to happen next or how long you'll both even be here. What if you took your time and regretted it later when the person you cared about vanished?

Maybe. If we're completely honest I not only give myself terrible advice about relationships but also actively follow said advice. But is it really worth waiting? If you actually do care about him enough not to want to wait to begin with?

No, but he did tell me about that. Frankly after the whole sex with Spike in a bar booth thing I think I'm not really in a position to judge anyone for making out. And even if that hadn't happened I wouldn't have particularly minded. But you're free to pretend I deduced it all on my own if it makes me appear more impressive.

All appropriate points have been deposited into your account of impressibility. [She feels like she should feel worse for it. She kind of...doesn't and it does feel like it has something to do with their more open than a couple relationship now. But she's not going to beat herself up for not beating herself up.]

Yeah, I wasn't sure if he'd mentioned it. [She's glad he did. Feels better that it wasn't a secret anyway.]

[She shouldn't feel guilt. Part of it absolutely is their unusual relationship, part of it is being used to Jack doing this sort of thing, part of it is what he mentioned about not being someone who can really judge anyone for this anymore.]

I think after what happened with me and Spike he's particularly paranoid about this sort of thing now.

Honesty. [Maybe not what she was expecting to hear, although she is allowed to ask more questions for the purpose of her note taking. She's one of the very few people here he doesn't mind discussing details of his love and sex lives with.] We'be never been the best at communicating, back home or here. And we're only just now starting to realize that may not be a good thing.
