I think we could all use a distraction.

[Or maybe that's just her thinking about how it's been awhile since the wardens have launched something at them. The kites barely seem to count. Is something big coming? are they just counting down the days until 400? Another anniversary festival or something...worth waiting for? In probably all the wrong ways.]

So, let's play a game. It's called I Never. It's usually a drinking game, but I'll leave the type of beverage up to you. All ages. [As if anyone stops the kids from drinking booze here anyway.]

I'll say "I never went to prison." If you have gone to prison—and spoiler alert, you have—then you drink. If you're not using video then figure something else out or stop being so difficult. The objective is to find things out about each other while not getting too drunk or hydrated yourself, so normally you'd pick a true statement for yourself so you don't have to drink. But that's really up to you. [She might drink a lot just because she's done a lot of things.]

I'll start us off, I never shoplifted...from a store that hadn't already been abandoned.

I'm Kitty. [Not her first time being forgotten. It's...interesting (hard, confusing, worrisome) having someone here again from that world. Allen's world. Tyki's world. Will they come back? Is she ready for that?]

[She takes a drink.] If only I played this a few weeks ago. [She still would have had to drink because of her hamster, Peter, from way back when.]

Oh. [Soft, but steady. Because yes, that is more than direct.] ...Well, then, I would have to pass. Nothing I could do would ever accomplish that.

[She's grateful enough that she can keep people alive but actually killing a Noah? Oh Lord in Heaven, that would be impossible for her.]

I should have expected that. [Miranda is smiling because it's awkward but at least they are making light of it. She lifts her own drink, which is just a very tall cup of coffee, and takes a deep swallow.]

Still, I would think it's not unusual for people to have that happen to them. [It seemed normal where she came from, at least.] And I have never um...played this game before now.

...Is that allowed?

[Miranda starts to drink but pauses when Kitty asks that question, since she probably would have choked on her coffee had she not stopped.]

Allen? He was um...as well as anyone could be expected at the time. We were all trying to survive the beasts trying to eat us. The lights were getting weaker. [She believes that they would have been all right. Allen was much stronger than her.]

No...it was during an experiment. [And she can't help that nervous tick she's gained of reading up to adjust the strap of her eyepatch, as if it's itching the skin under her ear.]

I've been in two other places similar to um...this before I came here. Back...home...Allen was away. [Because the Order thought he'd become a Noah and had turned on them. But even stranger using "home" to describe the Order when she hasn't considered that "home" in a very long time. Home is Alpha Omega.]

Yeah. I hope so. I think so. He was my first friend here. [He means a lot to her and she feels like she let him down in a lot of ways, but he never made her feel like that. When Miranda mentions that "most of us" were there Kitty wants to ask about Tyki, but she holds it back.] A lot of people from your world were here for awhile. Sorry. [It's easy enough for Miranda to think of who Kitty is referring to considering who they had just been speaking about.] It isn't cheating if it's skill, he would say.

[But she drinks easily because she's been fired from more than enough jobs to make that true for her. The memories may not truly have been hers, but they would always be real enough to her. To not drink would feel like a lie.]

I. Um...I've never led a mission. [General Socalo would probably have laughed in the face of anyone suggesting that.]
