Excuse me... I have a few questions for those who have been here longer - though possibly my family that is already here might be able to answer. First: Who comes up with the crimes that we've supposedly committed to end up here? Second: Is it possible to go home, not remember having been here, and to return and suddenly remember again?

[Please tell him he's not the only one. He feels so strange, having been with Ai back home and Kaname otou-sama along with her. Now he's just here again.]

[He bows his head a bit, the frown still carved into his face in a thin line where his lips are pressed together in frustration.]

I... I think I remember where mother's shop is? I feel strange. I can't smell anyone but I'm sure you're both still here and Ai and Grandfather as well.

Onee-sama, are you well? I'm not sure how long I was gone... I apologize for cutting our view of the sunset short.

[He wanted to stay there with her longer, this Ai that had shorter hair and was still getting to know him.]

I'll try to make it to the apartments soon, unless you'd like to come find me again. I-I've tried but I can't find onee-sama's scent anywhere.

[He smiles a bit, embarrassed at his failure but feeling that that the option of Ai finding him would be very much wanted by him. Any time he could spend with Ai was time he cherished.]

Maybe you could show me around some more.

	Ai just doesn't like to lose, more than anything. [And the wardens had bested her. Still, talking like this warms Ren's heart immeasurably for too many reasons to name.] I'm grateful too. I'm glad. I— [It only brings something else to mind-] I can't imagine it having always been the easiest.

[He's aware by now that Ren was born quite awhile after Ai, but the fact that he's the child of both a hunter and a pureblood - the president of the Association and the leader of vampires, no less - still must have been the source of at least some dissent. Compared to Ai, who still was the product of two purebloods (regardless of how Zero practically raised her).]

I greatly look forward to being able to spend more time with and to to learn about you. As our whole family, too.

Mm. Well, it wasn't like what humans are used to, but you and mother did the best you could.

[It had been hard, having their parents' work interfere with every aspect of their family's lives. Somehow their mother and father made it work up until it didn't.]

Maybe we could cook for everyone? A special dinner or something. If you aren't busy.

If it's what father wants to say, I guess I can't object. It's nice that I can monopolize some of yours and mother's time once in a while. Back home you were both very busy with work many times.

[Not that they missed out on important things or didn't spend time together, but he likes that this opportunity is much more relaxing than worrying about anti-vampire sentiment.]

Ah- well, I guess I shouldn't say too much about it. I don't want Ai to scold me.

Things have always been busy. Although I can certainly imagine it being more so as the years continue to pass. . . . Probably even busier than my— [Ah] . . . than your grandparents. There was a reason why my Master was around so often for both Ichiru and I. Even despite his own schedule and responsibilities he made sure we were taken care of.

[There's so many good memories from back then, even among the trying ones.]

It's very different. I've been here for a month, now, but still find myself at a loss over having such a great amount of free time.

[It's not the most wise way to word that latter part, however. It leaves him curious. What shouldn't he say too much about? He's so tempted to ask. . .]

Yeah. Both of those are very true. The fact that we have our whole family here, too.

[It makes him happier than he could have ever imagined.]

Although along the lines of a break, I recently was given the permission to keep up maintenance of the stables. I'll be there a fair bit more often. We really need to go riding together.

I'd like that. It's nice that the horses didn't seem afraid of me too much, when I was here before.

[He decides that perhaps that is his father's doing, or the fact that other vampires are among them. The animals would have grown accustomed to it eventually and learned not to fear without cause.]

I think I won't mind this place terribly much, if everyone is here. I'll help you and mother as best I can - with her shop and the stables... [Though he still might decided to tag along to school with Ai. He was a bit old for it but the more time he spent with her the better he felt.]

He smirks at the thought.] Although back home, even White Lily had her own ways of behaving. I practically raised her, and was the only one able to calm her down enough to take out riding, but her attitude was still terrible. She's tried to kick me plenty of times.

[Zero can guess it's only natural that at some given point in Ren's life he learned about that demon horse.]

I don't mind it, either. Not at all. [He doesn't think about the virtual facts. Or rather, he refuses to believe them.]

That would be great. Yuuki puts her heart into it all. I'm glad that she has something to focus on.

Father is a masochist, to let himself get beat up by a horse.

[It probably went back again to the fact that he was so patient.]

Mother and father both work hard and that hasn't changed between here or home. Mother works a lot with the Aristocrats while father worked hard for the hunters.

[He chose his words carefully, trying to keep things in a present tense. He realizes how easy it could be to slip up and say something that might trouble his family, but it was just as painful to lie to them.]

That was what I was thinking of. We'll certainly have plenty of sweets. There's always quite a lot of them around the apartment at any given time. Do you have a favorite?

[The mention of Ichiru leaves him more bittersweet than not.]

We used to have a really good tomato soup when we were kids. At some point I had learned to make it, myself. I know it's one thing Ichiru really does enjoy.
