S N O W Y S U M M I T

[ You find yourself in a wide snowy open. The wind is soft and there light snow falling. From the corner of your eyes, you can see a boy bundled up in a coat and ear muffs. His pale face was tinted with a slight pink as he blows against his mittens to warm himself up. It's one of those days where he's feeling good enough to be outside, and while grabbing onto another boy who looks completely identical to him, he turns back and waves at you. ]

C'mon let's play in the snow!

[ He chimed, a bright lit smile on his pale face as he grabbed you with his other free arm and attempting to make you run along with him on their adventures. ]

I hear near the entrance of the woods you can find rabbits and foxes.

[ He will continue to pull you along to humor him and play little hunting games with him until he starts to cough. His brother calls to you to help them out and the two of you help him back to their warm home. His brother tells you that he's unwell and he often gets cold. Once the three of you made it back to their warm toasty home, you are greeted with two adults, one female with a loose ponytail and the other a man who was a spitting image of the two boys but much older. The two of them pats the three of you on the head as they ushered you all inside.

The coughing one of the two boys was placed on the couch by the fire with a blanket. He seems to be very happy despite the cold and despite the fact that his health is unwell. The parents tell you it's going to be a bit before dinner and you should stay. ]

[ The first thing you see is red. Everything is red. The walls were painted red, the ground was painted red, and everything nearby was covered in red. The stench is suffocating and only continues to suffocate you as you walk and follow the trail of blood. Eventually, you'll see him-- a boy about twelve or thirteen, with heavy lidded eyes. He was standing in the hallway, watching silently, his expression cold.

There were two bodies piled in the middle of the ground, one of a man that looked identical to the young boy, and the other was a woman with chestnut colored hair. They were lifeless, bleeding dry. The third was a boy, cradled in the lap of a woman, whose eyes were pink like a meek rabbit's only there was nothing meek about her. She was petting the other boy who looked identical to the one that was standing in the hallway. Her whole self was covered in blood from her mouth down. A pair of white fangs glowed as her pink hues were dyed further red. ]

[ The boy in the woman's lap weakly called over to the one int he hallway ]

I-Ichiru-- Run!

[ The only response he got was a cynical smile that played on his lips before he completely ignored the warning. ]

Ne, Shizuka-sama, we should get going.

[ There's some exchanged words with the beautiful woman with white hair and pink eyes adorned in a white Kimono that was now covered in splotches of blood. ]

If you continue to play, you'll be caught.

[ He mused. How do you react to such a scene? Do you want to ask questions? Do you want to know what happened? Why did he smile the way he did? Certainly they were answers. Why would a child be so twisted... so broken? Who knows but you're surrounded with a strong feelings of hate, sadness and sorrow. ]

[The scene was difficult to choke down. The scent of blood surrounded her, and her normal sorrel gaze swirled red. She lifted a hand up to her nose to try and block the scent unsuccessfully. What was worse than struggling to ignore the smell she couldn't erase, was the scene itself.

Tears streamed down either side of her cheeks. While she wanted to cross the room to the child who lie bleeding beside the bodies of his dead parents, she couldn't seem to disrupt the scene.]

I don't understand. Why?

You don't need to understand. You have no business or reason to.

[ A voice return hers question with an neutral tone. However there's a cold smile plastered across his face. He was standing not too far from her, eyes focused on her as she continued to be affected by the dream. Something he had never forgotten and something he often dreamed about no matter what. It's something he should regret, but there hadn't been regrets since that tragic day.

He might have felt saddened by it, but there was no way he could say he was regretting his choices. It would go against everything he believed in. ]

[Turning away from the gruesome scene, her attention shifts to Ichiru. The adult version she remembers, standing there in the here and now. She can't comprehend it. Shaking her head, eyes lifting to his she searches for some kind of sadness or regret. Something to make him more human.]

Didn't you ever love them? Your parents... [They must have cared about him.]

[ If she looked really closely, maybe there was something hinting in his eyes at the way he was staring at the scene as it continues to play onward, to the very moment when Ichiru's younger self had trudged away with the white haired Pureblood.

Ichiru's expression was still unreadable at that. He wasn't the type to show his weakness, not even in front of Yuuki. Maybe his past had been some sort of mistake, but he can't go back in time to change it much less regret it. He had to deal with the consequences of what he had done.

He was fine with that. It was always better to be mad at him, detest him. It was much easier than everything else-- much easier. ]

I loved my parents, but not their ideals.

[ He crossed his arms. It's a simple straight forward answer. loved not that he loves them now but that might also be a trick, and a lie. Ichiru was always full of it. ]

[She can't read him. Maybe because their mentality is just so vastly different from one another it makes it difficult for her to see or relate to. Zero loved him. The anguish in his eyes as he carried out the lifeless body of the man in front of her had broken down her spirit and torn her heart.

His love was so great.

What is it that Ichiru could have found better than the love of his family?

Her eyes turn away from the scene. She can't bare to face it- the gruesome brutality and pain of it all. Poor Zero...]

Regarding what...? To hunt vampires?

It's far more complicated than just hunting vampires.

[ It's a curt answer for her and stating that he has little interest in actually telling her all the reasons why he's done what he's done. It's better this way. Why did he have to explain himself really? ]

If you're so curious, you can always ask Zero.
