[Day 369] Defense Force Mingle

This afternoon we're going to do a thing. Be at the headquarters. If you know someone who isn't a member, but they're interested in joining you can bring them too. [She knows it may not be the best day after hearing this morning's announcement, but since the wardens played with them yesterday she knows the day should be clear of their interference and they have some new recruits so they should probably all meet each other.]

[The thing in question is on the roof of the headquarters. Kitty brought food and drinks which thankfully she did not prepare. It's all snack-sized finger foods. She wants everyone to have a chance to know their teammates better. She isn't going to force any group activities but there are some tables and chairs for people who want to relax more or maybe play a game. She did leave a few decks of cards out.]

Just checking... [She tried to offer a parfait to someone else recently, and it offended him and somehow spiraled out of control. She looks somewhat relieved.]

Mm. It's just a dessert. It's sweet and and can come in a number of different flavors. There's a cafe that I used to go to a lot back home when I used to live with my adoptive father. They had the best ones. They were really large.

Oh- [ Hah- that came out bluntly. Lifting a hand up she scratches at her cheek.] Come on now... of course I have to eat, too. [For some reason she feels a little weird having to explain it though.] I get hungry for regular food and have the same kinds of cravings as everyone else.

[It's difficult to describe to someone who's never experienced what it feels like to desperately desire blood. Tilting her head, she tries to think of how to best explain it.] I guess... it's like water. You wouldn't just eat food but not drink anything, right? Or if you like savory things, it doesn't mean that you can't also enjoy sweet things, too. For me it's like that.

I'm not mad or anything. [A tentative smile. It's her only real attempt at one so far. Honestly, she thinks it's kind of cute.] It's fine, really. If you have questions I'd prefer that you just ask. It'll save things from being awkward later.

[She lifts a finger up to her lips in thought.]

Um... the stereotypes, lets see. [Maybe it'll help?] I'm not dead and never have been. Garlic tastes good in many dishes. I don't follow any western religions, but crosses and religious relics don't harm me or anything. I'm not some kind of evil spirit. [Or devil. Whatever it would be called.]

What else...? Oh- [She points up above her] Bright lights hurt my eyes a lot because I'm naturally nocturnal. But I wont turn to ashes or something for being out in the sun. [She just makes sure to bring an umbrella with her when out in the day light.]

[A nod. He can.] I can sense death. And... a lot of other things that have to do with death. [He hunches down some. He doesn't talk about the death stuff much. People are more open to the shadow powers - the death stuff, not so much.]

No one is normal where I'm from. And ... There are a lot of different people here too. [He's always been the outcast where he's from. She doesn't seem that strange.]

It's... not like we're dogs or anything. [What sort of image does he have of her if he's comparing her to a hellhound...] But considering things, it's easy to tell if someone is human or not. There are a number of people here that I wouldn't know what they were if they didn't say. Even Yuuri-kun, for instance.

[Until coming to Marina she had never heard anything about demons.]
