Day 363 [video | private to Reid]
[Yesterday had been a pretty good day at least for starters. Sure, there was a lot of forced kissing, but what else is new? She got a gift basket from Reid as a belated birthday olive branch. And they kissed and it was...something. Emotional. Not bad though and that's something. They'd eaten together and had coffee and there were loose plans for a call, but then she and Chekov had a moment and that call never happened. Now, it's growing later on the following day and she's already settled into bed when she turns the feed on.]

Hey, I had some more ideas for your middle name. I don't feel like we've ruled out Coleslaw or Humphrey yet.

[It takes her a moment to figure out what the reasons were in the first place. She's thinking maybe a little boredom. Wanting a way to better organize his time and give back with his unique skill set. It all makes sense to her. It's some of what drives her to teach and lead the force. But then something else clicks into place and while she can't know if it's what he's thinking, it feels right. Not that thinking of him ever feels right anymore.] The reason could come back. It's good to be ready.

[She bites her bottom lip. She really doesn't want him to come back. She doesn't want any of them to go through that again.]

Sure, he was a catalyst, but there was a bigger underlying problem of a poorly organized and poorly trained defense force that didn't seem to take prevention into account beyond patrols. They're not in the same situation anymore, neither with organisation nor looming threats. ]

I'm just wondering if criminology is the right way to go. I got some pretty harsh criticism last time.

	Not really. He seemed genuinely interested in the procedures themselves- [ And the killers, a lot ] -rather than the grisly details. On that note, I'm not even sure if the diagnosis of sexual sadist is entirely correct. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Well, his age first of all. He's fifteen, his frontal lobe won't be fully developed for another ten years or so. Any kind of diagnosis that implies a lack of empathy made at this age would have to be reevaluated either way. [ Gideon was kind of full of shit, with that particular arrogance. ]

Sexual sadists also find some pleasure in what they do. Nathan clearly doesn't.

	Maybe? I mean, don't get them up too high or anything but if we don't know what's going on with him, then we can't possibly know that there's no way of him getting better.
