[Day 359] Poker Mingle/Closed
[Poker night at Kitty's place in sector 4! She has them set up at the kitchen table with cards and poker chips. There's a variety of snacks set up along the counters—pretzels, chips, dips, pizza rolls, meatballs with toothpicks, etc. There's also some pie because Chuck is here! Ice cream in the freezer since Kitty lives here. You'll also find water, sodas, wine, and beer. Stay hydrated!

There's also a living room with comfortable seating for taking breaks or relaxing after the game. If you're going to snoop you might find a Nathan hiding out in his room or peek through a partially opened door to see Kitty's room. It's very utilitarian—no decorations, generally clean though there are stacks of books, tech, and clothes here and there. For anyone who visited other apartments she's had they were a little warmer and included more personal touches. Nothing too exciting to find in the bathroom, you perv!]

(OOC: Invitees tag in mingle style.)

Thank you. [Now he's smiling too much to maintain it. This will take practice.] Do you think that what happens in the virtual prison can have an effect on the actual prison?

[No, Sam, you didn't miss a transition.]

[Lips parted for a response, but he's having a hard time with it. Facey McFacerson and you're lack of segues.]

I don't know. The doors that opened led us there, so I guess there's a connection at least.

Yes, okay, but do you believe that the connections are specific to certain actions, or would an unexpected physical phenomenon have results, also? I don't expect you to know, I only want your opinion.

I'm not sure it's two-way. I would think they'd have it guarded against that, but maybe that's why they put limitations in. Maybe getting past a secured building would produce some kind of result.

[He considers Sam's input, nodding to himself.] I intend to incapacitate the kiosk.

[You have his attention.] How?

With a localized electromagnetic pulse. Of the three people I have told this to, two thought that it had a chance of disrupting the virtual prison and one was skeptical. What are your thoughts?

[Hopefully Sam hasn't been expecting things like explanations or lead-up or this could feel very abrupt.]

I think it's worth a shot, but we should probably know what we're doing next if it does work.

Yes! [He's so excited that he talked to you, Sam!] Do you have ideas?

Well, if it lets us wake up we're going to be scattered around a large room without any weapons and a little groggy. [Is he enough of a downer yet?] If it doesn't wake us up there might be something we can do by attacking the system with hacking while it's compromised.

[He nods. These are things that he has thought about, but his focus has been getting to the real prison, not doing anything useful once they're there.]

How would you attack it? I have no experience hacking anything in this prison. [Can you feel yourself being volunteered for this project?]

I'm pretty good with computers back home, but this place is nothing like back home. Rebecca, Tieria, and Kitty usually handle hacking things. [Can you see him not being entirely qualified for certain areas?]

I have already spoken with Kitty. Tieria, I have never met. [And he's only now bonding with Rebecca over vodka. Asking for help may have to wait until later.]

There does need to be a plan for if we wake up in the real prison. Scattered, weaponless, and groggy... what would you suggest? [There are other areas. You can't escape.]

I guess we need to make our way to something we can affect. A power source maybe? This isn't exactly the kind of things we handled back home. [More supernatural, less sci-fi.]

A power source... I don't remember seeing such a thing when we were there. It could have been inaccessible, maybe. Did you go into the real prison when the doors opened?

No. I wasn't near one when they opened. I helped with the blackout on this side.

Ah. [He frowns as a possible source of assistance fails him, but cheers up again quickly.] May I contact you once I have thought about this longer? Your perspective is helpful.

[Wow, so disappointed in him. Are you his father or something?] Sure. It's important. [Though maybe he's need to leave is shrinking as he stays and finds out more about his future at home little by little.]
