Day 333 | Video / Action; open
[ Video, maybe not much before noon. ]

So. [ Neil was tossing a rubber duckie in one hand. ] If anyone's frustrated with these things yet, there's a shooting range that can use some variety of targets. If you come by and dump these things for me - or us - to shoot, you can stand by and watch them be destroyed, fair and square.

And by us I mean anyone who wants to be on the other side of things, feel free to join me. Artemis? Lyle? I'll be at the range.

[ Action: at the shooting range, well into the early evening. ]

[ Neil did head out directly for the location he had named, filling up a bag with duckies on his way. There, he'd be around, both to show off with easy cheer, and to talk shop with those who felt like it. Or work through challenges with them. That could also be fun.

He was fine. Not like he'd spent the day before trying to sort out through his own head when it came to memories and family losses or anything. Just. Fine.

Whoever showed up, they'd be greeted with a cheerful,
]

Yo!

Both of these work.

What's your weapon of choice?

[ Something he wouldn't have answered if he didn't already know Artemis. 'Take a few shots' could mean anything. ]

I'm decent with a pistol but better with a rifle. 's been awhile since I handled a weapon that actually shot anythin' tho, mostly I've been practicin' at th' arcade.

[ Zombie shooter games, heck yeah. ]

Well, some of the ones at the range shoot marshmallow bullets, but sometimes it's still better than not doing anything.

You're not thinking about challenging Artemis to a shooting contest, are you?

Why, you ever tried to?

Dude, you're joking right?

[Besides him being the type that would shoot himself in the foot, nobody knows just how good Artemis is with a bow better than him.]

I mean, she already kicks my butt enough as it is when we spar.

Well, I do have my moments.

Anyway, I can make myself useful and wrangle up some of those ducks for you guys. [He already knows what Artemis' answer will be if she hasn't given it already.] Not that it will be hard considering they're everywhere.

I'm not sure which I find more appalling: the fact that you're still utilizing something as crude as bullets or that they're made of an edible sugary substance.

[ Quietly. ]

You remember this is a prison, right? For people supposedly sentenced for life.

Frustrating as that is, I can understand not making actual live weapons easily accessible to some people who might end up here.

I've been imprisoned before. This isn't a prison. This someone's experiment.

[ or so she surmises. it was steps up from the inside of her cell on the death star and the not-so-rare "occurrences" that took place felt far too much like a bored child shaking a jar full of beach snails -- or a vengeful adult filling the jar with halite. ]

People will rebel with or without access to weapons.

True enough, but that doesn't mean some of the people here - maybe not right now, but people who have been here, at the very least... well, I don't want them being offered weapons freely.

Not for the sake of riot. For the sake of the kids that're here.

Teenagers. Close enough.

So yeah, that's why I don't complain too much about the guns at the firing range. Better practice with marshmallows, than some of thing that can happen.

[ leia has mixed feelings, but being brought up within a rebellion does that to a person. but just because she was a teenager with a blaster doesn't mean she wants anyone else to be. ]

One can only hope that in the event of a real disaster, our captors would allow us to properly defend ourselves.

[ Neil grins, but then it fades a bit, and he gives her a shrug. ]

I remember. [ Though he didn't mind remembering that she was while he did. A bigger family, for just one day. He shakes that off, smiling once more. ] But I remember that shooting's a thing you like, so.

[It kind of didn't suck having siblings who stuck around. All the more reason not to act like it was a good thing right? Don't tell her how to logic! Also, she totally regretted nothing even when she saw his smile fade a bit. Nope. No regrets...]

I guess that part kind of stands out. [Seeing as they met on the range and all.] So, um, how many new relatives did you end up with?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]stratos1
2015-07-28 11:52 am UTC (link)
Aside from my actual twin, one more brother and two sisters. Though I don't think Duo's opinion on the matter of brotherhood matched mine. He had a different brother, and um. Does that mean I ended up with two more brothers?

Oh, and a new childhood best friend, which reminds him I should check on Conrart, just in case.

[ And an unexpected love interest, but some things had better be left unsaid, right? ]

How about you?

It's been better. I'm just really traumatized by rubber duck violence. [She doesn't look very traumatized. But she's probably been better. The last warden special hit her right in the heart which has been abused for awhile, but does she want to talk about that? Not so much. She's tired of being the sad girl.]

There is one here that I like. Unfortunately can't have one else where.
