Day 304 - closed action to Sougo
[ Despite the long sleeves, Aidan was painfully aware of the blue band on his wrist.

It had seemed like such a good idea at the time, to just go with it and be selfish for once. It wasn't like he was actually dating anyone and Rebecca made everything feel so easy, like you could just hook up with a friend and that was it. It reminded him of when he was eighteen and new to the city and how Tessa taught him the same thing — you don't have to be madly in love with someone to bone. It's fine if it's just for fun. It's fine if it's not serious.

Now, of course, back in the apartment where he stayed most nights, he couldn't help but wonder if it really was so easy. There's always other people involved and even though he couldn't care less about what most of the dome thought of him by now, it wasn't that long ago that he broke things off with Euphie. For damn good reasons, at that! Good, emotional, mature reasons but he knows what this must look like from the outside and the last thing he ever wanted was to hurt her. It was just... he needed good things too. He needed some intimacy and warmth because heaven knows when he'd get that next, if ever.

He sighs, head leaned against his arms where he sits by the kitchen table. Boy wouldn't it be nice if he had a best friend somewhere around here who could help him straighten this mess out? ]

Ah. Well. Euphie's Euphie. [He puts a hand on his chin as he figures out the right way to explain what he wants to say without saying something crazy.] You think she's gonna think badly of you 'cause you went out and did something fun? I know I'm not close with her or anything, but I know she's the type who wants people to do what makes them happy. Obviously being with her didn't make you happy. But if this made you feel happy and at ease, what's the problem?

[ She accused him of being lonely way back when he first confessed to her and although that was true, it wasn't a loneliness in this sense. If it had been, he wouldn't have pursued a girl that much younger than him and that confused about her emotions. ]

I'm not really sure... It was a weird day. Very weird. I couldn't stop talking about shit I don't ever talk about. Except maybe to you. Sorta. Because even when I tell you stuff it's never to the degree of everything that came out of my mouth yesterday.

I asked people about their thoughts on life, thinking that they'd give proof that things get better. But I didn't get that at all. The consensus, at least within those who I spoke to, is that things will always be shitty, and you'll always lose people because no one ever stays around. But you gotta make the best of the good times blah blah bullshit I don't wanna hear.

I mean, maybe it's not that things get better or worse in like... a straight line? It's not gonna get just better from here on our or just bad.

's probably like a rollercoaster, y'know? Sometimes things go your way even if it's just winnin' a round of videogames.
