[VIDEO]/[ACTION]
[There's something...different about Zatanna when she appears on screen. She'd always had an air of confidence about her, but right then, that mischeivous twinkle in her eye looked...prideful. Sinfully prideful.]

[The glimmering purple pearl currently hanging from her wrist may or may not have something to do with that.]

Hey, Jack, remember when you mentioned you wanted to see a few of my tricks? I'm down at the rec center, if you still think you're up for it.

...offer's open for anybody looking for a challenge, by the way. I'm feeling playful today.

[[ACTION]]

[Anybody who stopped by would find the fourteen-year-old magician messing with a few atmospheric spells in the multi-purpose room. While casually sitting atop a pommel horse. Relaxing, one leg crossed over the other. Drinking Starbucks a latte.]

[She might have been a little too busy having fun and feeling proud of herself to notice any unusual animosity in his gaze just yet.]

I think we've got some rope around her somewhere.

Ever try making it through one of those obstacle courses? Especially if the rope moves....

That sounds like the sort of challenge I might be able to get my teeth into!

[Smirking, and very definitely interested.

...Also pretty damn determined not to be defeated by a teenage girl.]

[A teenaged girl with literal magic fingers, mind you. Which is all she needs to lift in order to open a storage closet door in the back of the room. A second spell summons a large length of rope, which she then snakes up and out, charming it as if it were a snake.]

[The rope itself seemed to be maybe fifty feet in length, but that was hardly an issue for her as her powers enhanced it. Twisting and winding and looping and taking full advantage of the open space until there was a large rope maze just begging to be taken on.]

Stage One.

Have at it.

[That really is something to see, that long rope twisting and twining itself with no visible supports or anchors. He watches, simultaneously entranced by the magic and studying the patterns closely, looking for a way through.

When it's ready, he flicks her a quick, teasing grin and then charges into the tangle of rope, with a lot of enthusiasm and not - as yet - a lot of finesse.

Such enthusiasm might not precisely be an advantage, in a challenge that relies rather heavily on patience and focus.]

[Patience, focus...and more than a little luck. Especially when Zatanna throws in her twist.]

[Her fingers twitched at her side. Subtle. Unnoticeable to him in the heat of the moment, but to any passer-by, it would be obvious she was the one who initiated it. The changing of the ropes. Not enough to hurt him, by any means, but certainly more than enough to trip him up the moment he thought he had the maze figured out.]

[He was still busy trying to forge his way through the maze as quickly as possible and completely missed the ropes changing.

Until he tried to put his foot in a spot that had been clear a moment ago and caught it on the rope that had suddenly moved across the gap. He went over, flinging an arm up to try and catch himself and getting it trapped behind him instead at an awkward angle.]

Damn it!

[She tried not to laugh. Much.]

Not so easy, is it?

[That got her a furious glare as he tried to tug his arm free. Except he now had no feet on the ground and all the damn ropes kept on </i>moving</i> when he tried to brace against them.]

Not. Funny.

[Grated out through clenched teeth as he finally managed to disentangle himself and start clambering onwards through the rope. Slowly. With increasing frustration.]

It's a little funny.

[But she'll sit back for a moment, giving the guy a solid two minutes of interference-free running time before...]

Heads up!

[...at least she warned him this time before they moved? Mostly the ones overhead.]

No, it's really not. [He clamped down his frustrated and tried really hard to focus, and did actually manage to get most of the way through the maze without too much trouble.

Which only made it even more maddening when he suddenly found his wrist ensnared above his head and another rope somehow seem to loop itself around his neck. He halted abruptly, and very carefully brought his one free hand up to try and untangle it.]

[Watching the rope ensnare around his neck...she actually frowned a little at that. She wanted to challenge and beat the guy, not kill him.]

[An annoyed swipe of her hand over her face would loosen the neck rope, setting his wind pipe free. The wrist one, however...that one was on him.]

...everybody gets one.

[In case he thought to ask why.]

Thanks. [Very, very dry.

He pulled the noose-like rope off over his head and reached up for the one around his wrist. Except, the way it was pulling his arm diagonally away from his body, it was pretty hard to reach with his other hand. He growled, and stretched, eventually finding a rope lower down that he could lean on that didn't give too much, to get him a little closer. And even then, it took quite a bit of work to get his wrist free. He was pretty much seething by the time he finally pulled it out from the rope and surged forward through the last few ropes.]

[So much for being a good sport about it.]

[Most of the humor had worn off at that point, particular with the face he was making. She didn't bother doing any more "tweaks" to the rope. The last few would be challenging in and of themselves, the way they were placed. Unmoving, but complicatedly intertwined with one another. The wrong turn would see him unable to move forward.]

[Yeah, unfortunately, he wasn't that good a sport at the best of times, and right now he definitely wasn't at his best. Especially once he realised he still had to try and reel himself back and really focus on how to get through that last little section of ropes. He made several false starts before he finally found the way through and emerged, sweating and incredibly frustrated.]

Yeah, really not as much fun as I thought. You got anything I can hit?

[Because he really, really wanted to hit something right now.]

[She rolled her eyes]

Not me, that's for sure. So don't go getting any ideas.

[Jokes aside, she did use her magic to next summon up a large punching bag. Very large. The top of the bag nearly touched the ceiling, and it was easily twice the width of an average Jack-sized living being.]

[Oh, that was much better! He gave her a wry smile.]

You'd have to get me a lot more riled up than this before I'd start hitting you. But this looks great!

[Big and heavy enough that it was barely going to give at all, so he'd have to be careful not to break his hands, but oh, so very satisfying.

He went at it with a vim.]

[She stuck around to watch, because at that point, other people were starting to show up as well. Good. More people to win again.]

[Have fun with the punching bag, Jack.]
