DAY 283 | FOURTH WALL | ACTION;
[ zuko's been here for over an hour and he hasn't seen one familiar face – or landmark. what started out as fading back into the crowds that flanked either side of the street in the busiest section of ember island's shopping district after spotting a cluster of soldiers had quickly turned into something else entirely. the people were different, the stores were different, and he was surrounded by water, like he was standing at the bottom of a lake, encased in the relative safety of a waterbender's air bubble.

it was near the library that the treasonous prince finally removed the hood of his cloak, realizing that it didn't matter whether someone saw the scar on his face or not, because scar or no scar, nobody was going to recognize him. wherever he was, it wasn't anywhere near ember island or the fire nation, and he had no idea how he even got here. that bothered him more than anything else. ]

Excuse me. [ he stepped out in front of the next lucky person to pass by the sidewalk leading up to the library's steps. ] What city is this?

[Nobody was going to recognize him? Think again. This Water Tribe gal does. Or will, at any rate. Due to the effects of the black pearl she's been keeping in her pocket, her usual restless energy is dampened, and she's not really paying any attention to her surroundings. It's not until Zuko stops her that she bothers to look up. Then, pearl or no pearl, her eyes go wide.]

Fire Lord Zuko?

[Of course it's him. Not only is that scar unmistakable, but he'd stayed with her at the Beach House in the City a year ago. She never thought she'd see him again.]

[D'oh! She should've remembered from before — he's not the Fire Lord yet. So great. Now she looks like a crazy person. She tries to smile reassuringly, but it feels a little strange, and she realizes she can't remember how long it's been since she last smiled.]

It's... kind of a long story. The quick and dirty version is: you're in an interdimensional prison and I'm from your future. [Not even going to get into the whole "Avatar" thing yet. Just being from his future will be hard enough to swallow, without adding "I'm the reincarnation of your friend" and "I lost all my bending except airbending".]

	[ yes, because the word "interdimensional" actually meant something to someone from their world. he just stared at her as if she'd grown two heads, unsure of whether or not he should consider her words to hold any truth to them. ] I don't have time for this. 	[ he figured as much. most cities weren't located under gallons of water and protected by glass bubbles, but what else was he supposed to call it? it didn't exactly fit the bill of a prison, given that he's spent time inside one that fit the typical description of one. this was no boiling rock. ] MarinaNova.
