[She hadn't told him too much last night. She got hurt. It was nothing the hospital couldn't take care of and things were going smoothly otherwise and all she really wanted to do was sleep. All true really. Especially the sleep part, but there was still a lot more to say.] I'm checking out early.

[Everyone was greeted with Kitty getting charged with both assault and injury this morning ~~even though you didn't see it on the daypost because reasons but it totally happened, okay?~~ She spent the night in the hospital. They patched her up, replaced some of the lost blood and gave her cheetah-like spotting. Okay, maybe not them, but something did. There's also a tail. She doesn't want to talk about the tail. She pulls her blooded and tattered tank top back on and leaves the hospital.]

	Letting him go sounds fine. [She always preferred it to them handing down punishments like incarceration even if Rose and Spike keep calling the soul a punishment. It was never how she saw it.] Incident with holy water, huh? How much baiting did you two do? (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[Yeah, he never saw this as a punishment either. It's all been for the purposes of keeping people safe.

He grins slightly at her question, because however embarrassed he feels about the stake incident, baiting Spike in the first place is not something he regrets.]

Oh, you know, the usual! [The grin fades, replaced by a faint frown.] Well, for a bit. But then he kind of... stopped fighting. It was like he knew it was coming and there was nothing he could do to stop it. As I said, a little anticlimactic, really.

	A bit, yeah, but not much. As I said, he just seemed to give up. [He still sounds a bit hurt by that fact.] And yes, I died, but only because it was the quickest way to heal up from minor injuries. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	I know. I get that. [He does, because he's the same about the people he cares about, even if he still has trouble accepting that others (Kitty, Martha, Ianto) all feel the same about him getting hurt.] But for the greater good, I'm always prepared to take some collateral. Why didn't you tell me more about that before we took this course? [She doesn't believe it would have changed things in the end. He made his call to bring innocent people into it, but she feels like she should have known. Should have handled more of the contact if Jack was escalating things. After all, this wasn't just between two guys posturing. This was the whole force. The whole dome.]

[He grimaces.] I went out for a walk in the park after dark and took a tumble over a tree root or something. Gashed my hand rather badly and it wouldn't stop bleeding, and Spike just happened to be around to smell it.

[At least, he's always assumed Spike just happened to be around. He didn't seem to be stalking him at that point.]

So he started to tease me about it but I really wasn't in the mood. I mean, yeah, once upon a time I'd been intrigued by the idea of how hot it might be to get bitten, but that was before Ianto and I got blue-banded. [And before he'd got bitten by Rebekah in retribution for trying to conceal his relationship with Ianto from her] I tried to tell him to shove off but he wasn't having any of it and it actually got a little unsettling. He was out for blood - literally - and in the end he just went for it. Vamped out and knocked me down and - after a bit more taunting - bit me.

Do you think he meant to kill you? [It didn't matter much. Especially now, but she's curious. And she's feeling guilty for not asking these questions on the front side. She was used to needing to act faster at home and trusting her teammates completely. But this isn't home and these aren't X-Men. They are still learning how to function together and she's still learning to lead them.]

As far as I'm aware, he didn't actually know I'd already alerted the Defence Force, but he was obviously worried that I might. Well, he has a soul now. Hopefully this changes things for the better for everyone. Him too when he...gets used to it. [She doesn't think it's that easy but she knows he's had one before...or later. Time is a strange thing here.]

But we need to talk more in the future when, if things like this happen again. [She feels like she should have been more prepared for the allegations she was hearing if nothing else.]

I think we need to do a lot of work with the Defence Force in general. Training, team-building, communication - everything. Hell, even just getting to know each other! We've got people who don't even know the other members are - and I'll admit, I really don't even know some of my new team very well, let alone some of yours. We really need to do something about that.

[And yes, he is deliberately ignoring that her comment about talking more is very much aimed at him. He still hasn't quite accepted that it's a valid comment.]

Agreed. It's not exactly like teams I've been on before. [Where they only had each other and they were in close quarters. There was really no choice but to know each other well. Too well in some cases.] It's better than it was. [Early on felt even more disjointed at least to her.] It has a long way to go.
