Hey, I am...going to do a thing tomorrow. [Yes, off to a good start.] If you need self defense training be at the athletic center tomorrow at noon. [There's probably more that should go with that.] Don't eat a big lunch first. Wear whatever you normally wear. That's what you have to be prepared to fight in. It'll last...however long it needs to last.

Like I said, I thought you knew. My punishment was announced the day they released me from the hospital. Jack came running. I told him what happened. Which means that my punishment was out there and my Defense Force leader knew what happened. I assumed you knew and were avoiding me. I mean, it's not as though things have been working properly between us lately. Either way, I decided I'd deal with it when I was feeling a little better.

[He doesn't expect an apology. He just hates always being on this end of things. Finding out people he knows—cares about have been attacked by the very sorts of things he fights to protect people from. And now for the second time with Martha.]

It was announced? [Genuine confusion. He always checks the wardens' messages.] I never heard any punishment. [But Jack did?

And since she said a lot of things he's all too happy to ignore the part about things not working between them.]
