Music Recital | Open Mingle
[The day that Michiru had been planning for for some time was now here! It was the music recital for the academy's music class. She was excited for this and she hoped that her students were as well.

The stage was set and the chairs had been set up. There were also refreshments. This was the best that she could hope for.

The recital is mainly for her students, but she might play a song or two of her own]

[ooc: Recital time! If your character is in the class, feel free to post a song that they would play for the recital. For those who aren't and even those who are, feel free to mingle around and enjoy!]

[ooc: sounds good to me]

It is going well. [She smiles reassuringly. It's harder for student who have never done this before]

It is supposed to go just like this. You are going to do wonderfully. Are you nervous?

Kind of. But at least this time no one is counting on me to make it rain! Which is good because I don't think this flute will do that.

[She chuckles at that]

No, no one is counting on you to make it rain. Just go out there and enjoy yourself and that is what's important.

You're right. In fact it would probably be bad if it did rain. I should go out there and make it keep not raining!

Yes, I think that would be good idea, to go out there and keep it from raining.

[She really doubts the Wardens will make it rain, but if it keeps him excited about playing she'll go along with it]

[He laughs.]

Are you going to play something too? Or sing?

I will play something at the end. I want my students to have their chance to play before I do.

I guess that's a good idea. You'll probably be a lot better. It would be hard to follow that.

What kind of thing will you play?

It would. I don't want to make anyone nervous by playing before them. This is your chance to show off.

I play the violin. I'm going to play something simple.

[She really didn't want to play something more complicated after the students had played. She didn't want to seem like she was showing off]

How long have you played?

Oh, years. Sometimes it feels like lifetimes.

Did you always like it or did someone make you practice?

As far back as I remember, I have enjoyed it. I don't think I was ever forced to practice.

That's good. Sometimes parents can be really strict about that kind of thing. I knew kids on the baseball team who didn't really want to be there. [Which is amazing because how could you ever not?]

They can be. I've had that too. I've even taught a few kids whose parents were more interested in them playing violin than they were.

Maybe their parents should have learned instead.

Maybe they should have. There are a lot of parents who seem to have the theory that if their child does something, it betters the child or improves the parents' station. Both potentially breed resentment towards the activity.

I do prefer when people want to do it for themselves.

Yeah... I hope Greta never does anything just because Wolfram or I want her too.

[Since they are talking about parents, this has her confused]

Oh, she's my daughter. [Totally normal for a 16 year old boy to have a daughter, right?]

Your... daughter? You are practically a child yourself.
