[Between the rapidly swelling bruises on his face and the leaves stuck in his hair Phanan has the distinct look of a man who has just gotten into a fist fight with a vampire. Most unusual is his right hand; the plastic casing that houses the circuitry is chiped and the synthetic skin near his wrist is torn as if someone inadvertently bit it, which is exactly what happened. The fingers are twitching and spasming wildly, moving in a way that that is distinctly inhuman as the artificial skin crawls across them sickeningly. He's got some pliers and wire spread out on the table before him and he begins making repairs on it while he speaks. First he pops the casing open the removes the powerpack. Rather than going limp the hand freezes, looking very much like a machine that has had its power cut, which of course it is. Once it's powered off he starts rummaging around in it with the pliers, striping the wire and replacing it. It's all done a little awkwardly since he's using his left hand but he seems to know what he's doing.]

So just as a general warning vampire attacks are happening. So code whatever color we use for that one. Purple, maybe? Code purple? We should have more codes. Anyway as far as avoidance maneuvers go I recommend climbing trees. [Which explains the leaves in his hair. He fumbles a little awkwardly since he's using his left hand here and the video switches so that now it is...]

Sorry, but in this case, I think it's safer to do this alone. I'm not risking anyone else.

[Besides, he's never been much of a team player, not when it comes down to it. He's always had a tendency to keep things to himself, and to just head off on his own when something needed doing. Especially if it has a personal emotional value to him.]

Look, whatever happens, you know I'll come out of it intact. Spike won't. That's all you need to know. Why don't you use the time to try and get the various magic users together on the spell, and see if we can get the DF to pool rehab points to get that soul back?

[She doesn't like it. The brutality she long knew and used before coming here. The casualness of Jack's potential "death" or him trying to take the lead over her when he's even more personally involved.

But her plan was to put magic users in place to keep an eye on Spike and bind him if necessary. If they're busy doing that then they can't be working on the spell for his soul and if she doesn't use them for guard duty then it falls on people with less immediately useful powers or even humans and the match is less secure.]

Fine. I want you checking in with dispatch every half hour. If he does manage to take you out then he'll be on the loose again with no one knowing. At least this way we'll know a little faster.

[He doesn't exactly make a face, but there's a definite flicker in his eyes at the order. But he's soldier enough to follow orders, especially when there's a good point about protecting other people behind them.]

Will do. And right after it's over, too. Whatever happens, I'm not likely to be out of it for long.

[Of course, there's always the possibility that Spike might manage to actually capture him and stop him being able to make that call (he is, after all, paticularly vulnerable to capture when he's dead) but he doesn't think that's Spike's style. And now, if he doesn't make the call, he'll have back-up anyway. It works for him.]
