260 — Olympics mingle
[ It is a gorgeous day down here at the bottom of the sea and what better day to have an Olympics! The obstacle course is set up, the towels are fluffed, the medals have been polished to a high sheen and every orange within sight has been sliced.

Okay. Maybe not every orange. A lot of them. Enough to fuel a whole prison full of athletes, so athlete away! We can't waste all these oranges! ]

[Of course Phanan has found the sparkliest, most spangled scarf to orbiter himself with. And of course he is in the process of strapping on a pair of ice skates so he can scamper around on the ice and attempt some elaborate tricks. And, yes, he is of course aware this is all coming to end in humiliation and some skinned knees - well just the one knee - but as a very wise man once told him, you can't look dignified while you're having fun. So he finishes putting on the skates and wobbles out onto the ice.]

[Rebecca's already on the ice, skating around with the relative ease that comes from a childhood of ice hockey. It translates subtly in the way she moves on the ice, but her laugh and dumb oversized soften her otherwise strong strides along. She skids backward, curling around Phanan on the ice with her hands in her pockets.

She pulls out an orange and tosses and catches it nonchalantly while continuing to skate a circle around him.] I totally dig the scarf.

[Phanan skids and flails across the ice, arms waving wildly as he tries to keep his balance and catch the orange. Somehow he succeeds at both. Of course he's so stunned by this development that he loses his concentration and ends up falling on his ass anyway, but he clambers back up cheerfully enough.]

Isn't it amazing? I think I may wear it everywhere from now on.

	Try to pick a point and keep your eyes on it when you skate, it helps with the balance issue. If you're still wobbly, try using the wall to help - but essentially, try to keep loose. [She flops her arms at her side in demonstration.] Stiffer you are the more likely you'll fall, gotta keep relaxed. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
