day 255 | video; | action;
Good morning. I know it's a bit early, but better to get a good start on one's day than not. For those who don't already know me, my name is Doctor Helen Magnus and I help run the clinic in Sector 3. We're here to help all your bumps and bruises if you ever need it.

I also wanted to extend an offer I've only recently decided to uphold. Some of you may recall my question on linguistics some time ago. Recently, I've been convinced to begin a study on Earth languages, specifically those known by the 21st century. I have a wide variety of languages available, so if you're at all interested, please do drop by the educational building, classroom 6 at 6pm on days ending in 2, 4, or 6. I would be more than happy to share what I know. If you have a specific language you would like to study, but aren't certain I know it, ask. I may surprise you.

[ later today, she can be found in the clinic as usual or heading for the sizzle and sear, as she wants a good cup of tea and that place reminds her of her not!date outing with jean-luc some time ago. ]

[ OOC: mistletoe kisses are reserved for picard. i'm not planning on doing scheduled posts for the language class, so feel free to assume those will start happening next dayweek. ]

That depends entirely on the person.

[ for her? yes. oh she loves having labels and things that go squarely in those labels, especially when it involves personal relationships. so this half-relationship whatever it is thing with jean-luc is driving her batty. ]

What about you? Do you prefer labels? Does the person you're with prefer labels?

[He wasn't aware if he might be crossing over any lines, so she'd have to tell him to back off. He was used to just getting the answers he wanted, so he didn't know there might be boundaries.

His tone and attitude, however, wasn't so much demanding as it might have been in other situations, but more curious.]

Who is the other person?

[ he's definitely getting there. ]

Personally, I do. I much prefer to know exactly where I stand with everyone around me. As for Jean-Luc, I've no idea.

[ ... whoops. oh well, too late now. she offers him a tight-lipped smile, trying not to show that she's at all uncomfortable with this topic of conversation and likely failing. ]

Any other questions I think are best asked another day. [ she's a difficult woman to have a personal conversation like this with, after all. ]

[Oh-ho. He looked about to ask more when she mentioned the name, but then caught the hint at her next statement. He nodded, backing off now. Learning how to figure out where the 'line' was had been hard. He wasn't exactly socially inept, but he wasn't great at those cues, either. Demanding information until he got it interrogation style, however, while something he was used to doing, he understood it was pretty much the wrong way to do things in normal situations like this.]

Of course. Another day, then.

[He seemed almost shy about it, and a little like he was unlikely to ask again. Whether that suited Helen or not, asking questions about anything like this was hard for him to begin with.]

I shall see you again in a few days for another follow-up. [As she had pointed out earlier, he needed to remember not to use the arm too much, so coming in for the little learning sessions had obviously been put off to the side for now.]

Of course. Take care, Tieria.

[ at least he's taking the cue. she just doesn't do emotions well, especially when they involve talks like this one. perhaps another day she would be better able and willing to have a better talk on the subject. perhaps. for now, she just gives a tight smile and a nod, hoping that he will at least remember to rest his injury so it doesn't pull too much and require an even longer recovery. ]
