A long time had passed since Deanna had felt the distinct lack of her empathic powers. She had only felt this sort of emptiness once in her life before today and it was no better now than it had been then. Last time, she had thought she would forever be without them and felt as though she had lost a limb, but she was hopeful that this time she could figure out what had caused her to lose them in an effort to get them back. At least she had experience in dealing with this feeling. Not that this would help her much, but it was a start. It was better than nothing.

Unsure where she was or how she had gotten here, and feeling as lost and alone as she had ever felt in her life, Deanna wandered around the area. She passed what looked like a park of some sort, a library, and something that looked like a residential building. That seemed a little more permanent than she had been hoping for. She'd listened to the welcome message, but it definitely hadn't seemed like something the Federation would condone, which meant that she had been kidnapped somehow. That wasn't a good thing for many reasons and she didn't like to think of what Captain Picard might do when he found out, let alone Will Riker. It was inevitable that one of them would and she doubted either would take it well.

Still, being here was an opportunity to learn about a new location and Deanna intended to do as much information-gathering as she could despite the situation she had recently been exposed to and the one she was in now. What she really needed was a way to contact Starfleet, if not Captain Picard himself. She had found something that seemed like a communicator, but without having someone she trusted verify it, she was hesitant to use it. Whatever the case, she much preferred to make contact on her own terms and that included being in possession of her empathic abilities. So for now she kept searching the area. It wouldn't do her any good to stay in one place.

[ ooc: deanna can be found anywhere in the dome today, but she starts out in sector 2. ]

	No, I wasn't, but... Multi-dimensional? [ she can guess at what that might mean, but as there are a multitude of ways that word might be used in starfleet, she'd like an actual explanation anyway. she was, after all, just on a starship. in space. not on a planet. ] (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Since you know them I'm going to guess the concept of alternate realities doesn't faze you too much. All kinds of people here from earth, but from different times and different versions of earth. [ deanna nods thoughtfully. other planets, hm? maybe in the future she could mention that she's from another planet, too, and technically half of her heritage is that of an alien species and culture. things to consider another day. ]

And somehow these "wardens" are capable of bringing people from all of these realities into one place?

[ if she sounds disbelieving, it's because while she knows of alternate realities, she's never heard of so many being drawn together and existing in one point in space and time. then again, temporal mechanics aren't her cup of tea. that's data or geordi's field. but geordi isn't here and data...

They're impressive like that. Also misguided and a few other choice words. They have something called a dimensional stabilizer. I don't know if that's what everything runs through, but it's part of what they have going on.

[She can see she's giving a lot more information than she's getting, but that's often the way when giving a newbie tour. She's alright with that. The woman knows two of her teammates. That's something. She can be giving.]

I take it they're not well-liked here. [ just an educated guess. doesn't take an empath to figure that one out. this makes her wonder about the possibility of thomas riker turning up here. that was be a little more awkward than she feels ready to deal with, so she pushes it aside. ] I appreciate your help. It's a lot to take in, but having friendly people can help ease someone into a new situation. [ spoken like a true counselor. ]

I think I'll need to take time settling in. May I contact you later, once I have a better understanding of how things work here?

I've been asking you a lot of detailed questions and you've answered them well. I'd say that counts. [ it means something to her anyway. ] And now you've given me another. Headquarters for what?

[ it would have to be important if they had a whole building and spoke of it like this. deanna vaguely wonders if captain picard is involved in this or knows of it. she'll have to ask him later. ]

That sounds like something I would like to know more about. [ note to self: ask about this later. she'd ask now, but-- ] You look as though you have more important things to do than answer questions from someone who just arrived. Perhaps after I settle in, this would be a good place to start. [ mostly it's a lot to take in and as much as she wants to know as much as she can find out, she knows she needs time to adjust first. and if she can find captain picard, all the better. ]

	Sure. All the unbelievable will probably sound more believable coming from people you know anyway. They're on the force too, so they can probably fill you in there. You might want to get clothes and an apartment before worrying about it though. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

We've had some pretty unbelievable things happen to us. [ which kitty could probably guess at just based on what she seems to know of captain picard. if deanna runs into said captain here, she'll have to first figure out if she trusts this not to be an illusion and then how much of this defense force he believes in. that will tell deanna whether or not she should offer her services to them, assuming she'll ever get that back. ]

I understand. Until then, I'll let you get back to work.
