[ day 253 ] action :: open
[ Option One ]

First thing in the morning, Jean-Luc stops by the Defense Force headquarters to check in. He makes a habit of this every other day or so, just to see if he's needed in any manner but his usual patrol duties. So he can be found here with a fresh cup of steaming tea. He probably won't remain for long though, so catch him while you can if you need him.

[ Option Two ]

As often as he frequents the library, he should probably set up residence there. A home away from home, sort of thing. But nevertheless, he is at the library again. He's perusing the bookshelves, for the rare novelty of a book from another world that Earth. He frequently finds them in this place, as the prison does pull people in from everywhere. And this is his own personal way to continue his exploration of the Universe. Books, after all, are one of the most obvious founts of knowledge. And we know what people say of idle minds...

[ Closed to Helen Magnus ]

Jean-Luc has packed a dinner for both himself and Helen. He had sent her a message to meet at the stables later in the afternoon. He's in the stables, saddling up two horses, one for himself and one for Helen. A bag settles on the ground at his feet. He's in full riding attire. But yes, he has accepted that this meeting of theirs is an actual date. And he's okay with that.

[ He notices that and nods, hugging a large book to his chest and turning to face Data. ]

What do you mean, Data? What did they say that you question the validity of?

My inquiries were regarding the status of the dimensional stabilizer. They acknowledge the issues with it and claim that efforts are being made to repair it, to prevent such unintentional losses.

[ He shakes his head. ]

I am, however, finding that I have difficulty believing that to be the case.

[ His jaw squares, lips thinning at their promises. As if he's holding himself back from saying what he really thinks about their efforts or about them in general. ]

Yes, I find that difficult to believe as well as the issues are ongoing and they seem to have quite the technological advances withing the dome itself. Were their engineers on the Enterprise I would...

[ He pauses. Shakes his head. ] We will leave Commander LaForge's room untouched should they actually make said repairs and return him to us.

[ Data arches a brow, shaking his head as well. He finds himself with some rather uncharitable views on the wardens and their claims at the moment. ]

I suggested that they may find capable engineers among the inmate population, as such repairs would be mutually beneficial. They did not seem to appreciate my advice on the matter.

[ It's said in a dry tone - though certainly not the flat tone he employs without his chip. It's perfectly clear what he's saying: he was calling their bluff. But the topic of Geordi's room, that elicits a small, tight frown. The acknowledgement is softer, sincere. ]

Yes, sir.

[ Their uncharitable views are similar. ]

I would also suggest expansion of our current living quarters in the event that more Starfleet personnel find themselves brought here. [ It's something he's considered as he's thought more and more on Robbins being here. ]

[ He gives a slight nod. ]

Yes, sir - a wise suggestion. It is certainly possible that additional personnel may arrive, and if we continue to maintain the quarters of those who depart, it will be necessary to increase the space which is available to us.

[ Jean-Luc nodded. ] Yes, and it has occurred to me that we might get more from any time period of Starfleet. A close proximity will ensure a functional crew, or as functional as it can be here. Given our many talents, we are stronger united.

Agreed, sir. Presently, Lieutenant Robbins has proven to be exceptionally capable, despite any chronological discrepancy. Developing a similar rapport with any other personnel with whom we are unfamiliar, from any point in either the Federation's past or future, would certainly be beneficial to all concerned.
