[ day 253 ] action :: open
[ Option One ]

First thing in the morning, Jean-Luc stops by the Defense Force headquarters to check in. He makes a habit of this every other day or so, just to see if he's needed in any manner but his usual patrol duties. So he can be found here with a fresh cup of steaming tea. He probably won't remain for long though, so catch him while you can if you need him.

[ Option Two ]

As often as he frequents the library, he should probably set up residence there. A home away from home, sort of thing. But nevertheless, he is at the library again. He's perusing the bookshelves, for the rare novelty of a book from another world that Earth. He frequently finds them in this place, as the prison does pull people in from everywhere. And this is his own personal way to continue his exploration of the Universe. Books, after all, are one of the most obvious founts of knowledge. And we know what people say of idle minds...

[ Closed to Helen Magnus ]

Jean-Luc has packed a dinner for both himself and Helen. He had sent her a message to meet at the stables later in the afternoon. He's in the stables, saddling up two horses, one for himself and one for Helen. A bag settles on the ground at his feet. He's in full riding attire. But yes, he has accepted that this meeting of theirs is an actual date. And he's okay with that.

Jean-Luc wants to mention the fact that Guinnan, someone who has been around for longer than that and a very dear friend, would beg to differ about the unknown. She would have advised Eric to look harder. But Jean-Luc is unsure at the moment that he should advise the other man of the same, more inclined to focus on the later comment.

"Of course with time there is a certain dullness that comes as the novelty wears off." He says. "But I've a feeling you are speaking of something much more specific in nature."

Perhaps Eric is too complacent about the unknown. Of late, back home, he's been busy and he has experienced some of the unknown. Here, it seems to be thrown at him so rapidly and inanely that he has ceased to care. Of course, the loss of two people he cared greatly about, as well as a few others, have left him very apathetic as well.

Eric quirks an eyebrow at Jean-Luc, considering whether to go ahead and follow that topic or shut it down. "People, things and situations change rapidly here. It's rarely a good thing unless you've an extreme dislike of someone."

"Ah, yes." Loss was something he was well acquainted with. Whether it was losing crew on away missions or here in the prison. It was never easy. And only today had he and Data learned that Geordi had left the dome. It left him feeling... an emptiness, of course.

Jean-Luc nods. "Some changes within the prison are indeed more difficult to adjust to than others. Especially those of a personal nature. Those that involve friends and comrades."

Eric inclines his head at that. Jean-Luc has clearly hit the nail on the head.

"And you've uncovered the dome's dirty little secret."

He nods. "The dimensional stabilizer, one of which the Wardens seem to lack control of."

"Precisely, and it seems to be getting worse."

Or perhaps Eric is just paying attention since the people leaving are ones that he cares for.

"My second officer had inquired as to the glitches with the Wardens. They have acknowledged the issues and claim that efforts are being made to repair it, to prevent such unintentional losses." He pauses. So there is indeed a few issues. As to their claims that they are repairing it, I have difficulty believing it. With such vast technological superiority, they should have no problems repairing and maintaining an invention of their own design."
