237 | Avoidance Group* Therapy Mingle
(*Also known under the snappy alternative name "If I ignore my problems, maybe they'll go away" Group.)

[In the usually so quiet library where we lay our scene, things are a little less quiet and a little less library-like, given that today it's full of bots, a few tables with neat little trays full of assorted snacks, and - of course - therapy subjects in varying states of willingness.

The robots, true to form, don't bother anyone who doesn't try to leave. Those who do try will have their path brusquely cut off and their attention directed to a whiteboard at the far end of the room - it's mostly empty, with plenty of room for writing, except for one sentence in the middle of the board, written in red: "Admitting to one's problems opens doors." Is that an attempt at an inspirational message, or meant to be taken literally? We just don't know.

There's also a table just beneath the whiteboard with little stacks of cards with suggested discussion topics (with instructions to work in pairs or smaller groups, taking turns to answer the questions).]

• Share one of your ambitions. What are actions you have taken in order to fulfill it? Are there more things you could do? Give suggestions on more ways of working towards your goals.

• Share one of your fears. What are actions you have taken in order to stop it from coming through? Are there actions you have actively avoided taking? Does the group have any fears in common?

• Are there certain tasks, responsibilities or situations you often find yourself avoiding in everyday life? If yes, how do you get out of them? Is there an alternative approach? Give and compare examples, discuss reasons.

• Is there something currently worrying you? If so, what? If your fears were to be realised, what is the worst-case scenario for it? Is there a best-case scenario? Brainstorm possible ways of solving the situation.

• What is one difficult situation you have experienced recently? How did you deal with it?

• Share one achievement you feel proud of having accomplished.

[There are also a number of scenarios along the lines of "You have a work assignment due tomorrow, but a friend calls you inviting you to a night out. What do you do?" as well ask the questions that can be found scrolling down this site. Feel free to make up your own!]

Oh, you know, the best way possible. [He gestures towards the food.] For a prison, there's no shortage of good food.

There was no way I was gonna get this stuff easily when I was your age.

Yeah. The free, unlimited food supply is definitely one of the few perks to this place.

[And he's going to enjoy some of that food right now as he stuffs an entire donut into his mouth.]

Though the last time we had one of these sessions, all we got was stale sandwiches and coffee I wouldn't serve to my worst enemy. Well, maybe Klarion.

Guess even Wardens learn a thing or two along the way. [Though that namedrop gets him kind of curious.]

Who's Klarion? One of our future Rogues?

Thankfully, no.

[Time for him to devour another donut.]

Klarion is a Lord of Chaos. He's kinda like the bad guy version of Doctor Fate if you know who that is.

So basically he's bad news. [Bart had never personally met Dr. Fate - and considering Fate's dead, Bart doubts he'll meet Fate anytime soon.] Are we talking Zatanna Zatara levels of crazy or worse?

[He pauses, realizing just how weird that sounded.] Well, the one from your world's actually sane, so I guess you wouldn't know.

[Wally nods to confirm that Klarion is bad news but whatever else he was going to say about the annoying Lord of Chaos is lost the moment Bart mentions that little tidbit about his world's version of Zatanna. Now he's just wondering what 'level of crazy' she is.]

Well she's about as sane as any person who has ever organized their own kidnapping can be. [Okay, it wasn't really a kidnapping. That was just the excuse she used for tagging along with the team while they searched for Red Tornado.]

So, just how insane is your Zatanna?

[Organized her own kidnapping? Huh. While it doesn't exactly compare to the stunts Smallville!Zee's pulled, Bart can't hide his surprise.]

From what I've heard, she's good at switching people's bodies and "granting people's wishes." Like, she was able to get rid of Superman's powers temporarily because he wished to be normal or something [Most of this is secondhand since while Bart had met Zee, he also met her at Hawkman's funeral. Not exactly the best time to ask her firsthand.] Plus she got him crazy-drunk this one time. I really, really wish I'd been there.

[... He shouldn't have admitted that one out loud, huh?]

[Wally cocks an eyebrow at the last part.]

She got Superman drunk? I don't know if that'd be the funniest thing ever or the worst. [An inebriated Kryptonian could cause a lot of accidental damage.]

I just hope he was responsible enough to get a designated flyer.

Oh, trust me, it was pretty hilarious. [Bart's trying way too hard to rein in his laughter, but he's not exactly succeeding.] Especially since I can't even get the Boy Scout to jaywalk most days. I don't think they caused more damage than I expected, but most of what I know is secondhand.

[He's a bit bitter too, considering he's begged Clark to go drinking with him at least twice, and Clark keeps turning him down like the good influence he is.]

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

no worries!

[Wally joins in with the laughing because the idea of Superman of all people being drunk is pretty funny.]

Too bad nobody had a video camera so you could see him in action.

[But speaking of people drinking, this reminds him of a question Artemis asked him last month at the vampire bar.]

How much do you have to drink before you're wasted?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

you're the best ♥

I... [Lightbulb moment! Clark's best friend might've taken pictures. If When he gets back home, he's so asking her about it.] Yeah, I really wish they did.

[When he hears that question about alcohol, though, Bart furrows his brow.] That's... a pretty good question. I don't think I've gotten wasted yet. [Mostly because he hasn't tried.] I'm sure we'd have to drink a lot before we even get a little buzzed.
