[Day 237] Relationship Issues Group Therapy mingle
[The relationships group therapy attendees will all get a message telling them to report to The Winery in Sector 2. Sadly for them the alcohol is locked away, but there is an assortment of food and non-alcoholic beverages along the bar for consumption. Many of the tables have been cleared out and the chairs rearranged into a circle with booths along the edges for more intimate therapeutic discussions.

And don't forget the party favors! The wardens have left some helpful games and activity ideas to get them started. There's a bowl full of folded slips of papers with various questions.]

How many people have you slept with? Do you regret any of them? Why?

How many relationships have you been in? Why do you think that is?

What was your longest relationship? Most serious? Shortest? Most casual?

Why did your last relationship end?

What do you look for in another person?

Are you happy?

Who is your ideal mate?

What was the biggest problem/complication in your previous or current relationship?

What do you need out of a relationship? Sexual experience?

How long have you been single between relationships? Why do you think it was so long/short?

Are there any similarities between the people you've been with? If so, what are they?

[In addition to the questions there are cards with various prompts. One explains the game, I Never. Another suggests people pair off and roleplay they are in a relationship and then deal with various scenarios like what do to if one partner flirts with someone else or comes home late without calling.]

When is it appropriate to discuss getting blue bands/having sex?

When should you move in together if ever?

What do you do if you suspect the other is keeping secrets?

What do you say if your partner comes home with a haircut you don't like?

How do you respond if you find your partner crying?

How do you decide how to spend your time together?

Your partner's family doesn't like you. What do you do?

One of you is critically hurt. How does the other respond?

Your friends don't like the person you're with. What do you say to them? What do you say to your partner?

One of you wants sexual relations and the other does not. How do you balance your needs?

How do you communicate your desire for a particular sexual desire to your partner?

It is your partner's birthday. How do you prepare?

At a party your partner leaves you to socialize with others. How does this make you feel and how do you respond?

It hasn't stopped him before and while it gives pause to his words that's all it is—pause. And then he's reaching for her hands. Will they feel like her hands or will they be cool to the touch? But answering that question isn't why he reaches. He reaches because she looks and sounds like she's in pain and while he has a lot to process here he still feels like he's talking to Elena.]

Slow down. Tell me everything. [as if more words will help with the shock.]

[ there's so much she hasn't told him, so much he doesn't know. for all she's confided in sam there is so much more, so much she hasn't said. to protect him. to protect herself. to protect everyone else. to keep the confidence of ones she loves.

but it's sam, and his touch tells her exactly what her being a vampire doesn't mean to him. it's why her fingers curl around his. it's selfish maybe, and that's why her smile fades as the pads of her fingers relearn the curve of his hands. ] It's okay. I knew it would happen, and... now I have to deal with it. [ in any way she knows how. she looks to her lap, to their hands on her knees. she can feel the pulse under his skin. ] Back home, something happened; I was hurt and... Dr. Fell gave me vampire blood to heal. Only I ended up dying with it in my system anyway. Matt... lost control of the car and drove off the bridge. [ she couldn't say why she doesn't mention rebekah. maybe because she doesn't want to waste the energy blaming her. not really, not anymore. can't. won't.

she doesn't mention it was the same bridge her parent drove off. where she almost died. sam already knows that. ]

[He already wishes he knew more about vampires from her world. Not just more, but everything. Sometimes knowledge is all he has. It's all that keeps him and his brother alive—the times they manage to stay alive. It's a better weapon than a salt-firing shotgun most of the time.

But he doesn't need a weapon with Elena, right? Still, he feels off guard and unprepared for this. There has to be some way to bring her back. He just needs to know more. He has a hard time grasping her words as he tries to remember everything he's learned from his Dad's journal and Zero's guest lecture.]

And you fed? [He was the one who wanted her to slow down and tell him everything, but he can't be bothered asking who Dr. Fell is or what got her hurt in the first place. He definitely can't stop and think about what kind of death drowning would be. He can wonder where the hell Damon was during all this, but he's already pushing back to those first comments.] Who?

[A bag. Of course she wouldn't need to here with the resources they had. He could hardly think of her drinking from someone, yet here he was assuming exactly that. You can take the boy away from hunting, but you can't take the hunter out of the boy.

His guilt is short lived hearing the next part, but instead of making him wary like it probably should it makes him relate.

Except she was turned against her will in an accident beyond her control. She can't help what she's become. He drank willingly to be more powerful. The cravings haven't been as bad, but sometimes...

Before she says it, he is already thinking the words, "I'm a monster." It startles him to hear her say it too.]

No. [The word is a little unsteady, lacking some of the confidence he wants it to convey, but there was no hesitation in delivering it.] You're Elena. You have to hold on to that. [He squeezes her hand tighter.]

[ of course he would think a person and right now, elena is in no position to blame him. she wants to, has wanted to. (she can't help but thinking about what damon's said, time and time again. it's inevitable.)

it's why she holds that same unsteadiness, why hearing him say no is exactly how she feels. her eyes lift and lock with his. she nods, because he's right. because he sees her. because that's all she's been trying to do. ] I feel like I'm turning into something else. I don't want to hurt anybody, but I... [ she sucks in a deep, horrible breath at how untrue that is. that's who she's always been, always wanted to be: elena, who didn't wanted anybody to get hurt. elena, who didn't want to hurt anybody.

	They shouldn't be forcing you into a situation like this. [Locked up with all these people when he thinks she needs to be away from innocents she could hurt right now. But his concern and compassion come in just as much as his hunter instincts and wariness do when she talks about how she feels.] I won't let you.
